It is a good idea but it is something that will cost companies billions to set up shop back in the US. For companies, why would they do this just for the next president to be like “I am good, I am dropping this mandate”Voters may want more US factories—but they don't want to work in them

Certain things need to be brought back from a national security standpoint, imo. We should never again get caught like we did during covid with no US based mask manufacturers, medicines and certain essentials, etc.

Representative Greg Casar and 30 other members of Congress sent a letter to the Acting Inspector General for the Department of State calling for an investigation of potential corruption and conflicts of interest involving reports that the State Department has been pushing countries facing tariffs to do business with

The letter expressed "serious concern about the ways Musk is exploiting his position within the Trump Administration to influence foreign governments for his own personal financial gain."
It stated: "In one instance, the State Department reportedly applied pressure on the country of Lesotho to finalize a licensing deal with Starlink as a sign of 'goodwill and intent to welcome U.S. businesses' and 'as the government of Lesotho negotiates a trade deal with the United States.' Starlink had been seeking access to customers in Lesotho. Lesotho awarded Musk’s Starlink a 10-year satellite internet service license after the Trump administration imposed a 50% tariff on the country and sought negotiations to provide tariff relief."
The letter raises "serious concerns about whether these trade deals will be negotiated to benefit all Americans and in alignment with our country's strategic interests or to benefit Trump, Musk, and other elites."
They have asked the acting inspector general to refer the case to the Department of Justice for criminal investigation if it's found that
