[UPDATE 11.13] Amazon chooses Queens, NY & Arlington Virginia as its 2nd headquarters

RFRA ain't anti gay bills But either way, Georgia is the same.georgia, and "backing out" ain't some switch you can just flip. Wtf is Tyler Perey supposed to do with all that studio be just built ? Lol they're here for tax breaks and those are still happening . They can talk in the press. But there's a whole infrastructure here now, the time it takes to pull out of here, is the time.it takes to get wait his term out if he's so bad. And if straight people who work in film let gay people who work in film bully them into joining that fight--- whole nother story

Isn't it funny that legislation for %1 of the population (gay folks) is more supposedly consequential than any Bill effecting Black people?
Again there is a little too much gay stuff going on in Atlanta but if he puts out a Anti-gay bill watch what’s going to happened a lot of gay groups carry weight in Atlanta now a days. I do miss the old Atlanta 1980s and 1990s

It's not a anti gay bill.

It's not a anti gay bill.
Yes it is....Look everyone including some Republicans believe that kemp stole this race. But he has to remember half of the state is blue now Atlanta metro is fully blue now if he goes to much outside of the box he will get a good smack in the head even bulldog head Deal knew his place when it came to Atlanta.

How is it anti gay?

And no, everyone doesn't believe he stole the race.

Atlanta metro has BEEN fully blue.

And lets play this out. Say there's a group of gay people who live in Atlanta and work on films. Some huge film companies are pissed about this law and pull out. They hurt the group of gays who work on films.

If you live in Atlanta and you're gay, you don't care about some Floridat or photographer who doesn't wanna work your gay wedding (cuz that's how this is supposedly anti gay) because Atlanta is FULL of gay florists and photographers who will come out and take their money.

The part of the law that they're talking about (it covers a lot) is the part that makes it ok to FORCE someone to do something they don't wanna do. The gay people will bring up "well what if they didn't wanna serve Black people?" And Black people let then get away with making that shit comparison.

I am not anti gay, and I am free market when it comes to that. And I think the heat should be turned back tbe other way towards gay people trying to push something using Black issue language. And a candidate who would do that (Stacey Abrams) who is suspiciously unmarried and never paired up, -- well even if she was married, I wouldn't like a Black candidate who thinks it's ok to use this language.

But notice how a small minority (gay people) who have enough of a toehold economically in the right places have their threats heard and heeded- even outside of the voting process. She isn't threatening that gay people wont vote for you. She isn't even urging gay people to get out and vote because Kemp is "anti gay".

She's saying "if People vote for Kemp, and he wins, he will support legislation that will in turn , make KEY PEOPLE AT COMPANIES TAKE THEIR MONEY. 4% of people in Georgia are gay. 30% of Georgia is Black, and that 4% has more political leverage.

Wow.
No Atlanta metro has not been fully blue cobb county Gwinnett County north Fulton was always red up until this year

I am going to say this also Stacey Abrams had long coat tails even though I think they cheated with her race the other races under her was very successful for the Democrats they picked up 14 State House seats and flip the northern suburbs of Atlanta to blue. @exiledking

Aaah i got you. So it's about winning the suburbs which has more liberal people moving in from other places and some millennials who think different from their parents.

Which is why there's really no need to discuss any issue as relevant as RFRA that deals with the Black community. No one can even mail down a policy that pertains to Black folks , as many "leaders" as there are. Perhaps Black folks got all the legislation we need, and politics isn't as relevant right now. I wonder.

Well Fulton county and the city of Atlanta has its own little government going Outside of the state of Georgia

In this race, a very extremist republican random against a very extremist democrat. He wanted to show off his guns (good for Blacks and whites who support second ammendment rights ) , and talk about "then damn illegals" (another good for anyone in the unskilled labor fields who don't want their prices driven down). Oh and he mentioned he would support this supposed "anti gay" bill.

She ran on fighting against this supposed anti gay bill, gun control, and being Black. There was this overtone of free healthcare and college, but no one actually thinks she could really do that, so .... Back to the being Black. She replied heavily on.the Black vote , but the only issue we can.pin down seems to be this "anti gay" bill. Amazing.

So she won over the new liberals in metro Atlanta and the Black people in the rural areas. A moderate republican can always beat that

Right. And yet, poor Black folks housing projects got for down and they got shipped out to the surrounding suburbs. No politician could save anyone from that. The underground got.sold to a rich developer BY the Black mayor lady. Money trumps them votes, and she had to scrounge up every last one of us left in order to win.

Funny how Atlanta, the fully blue area , almost lost the election while Georgia, the predominately red state , almost lost lol.

Here’s the thing though even though they cheated Stacy out of the governorship she was still very close with little white support... this has to scare the hell out of the Republicans in this state. Next election cycle is going to be a bitch for Republicans. also Georgia is no longer a solid red state it is a purple state now

They didn't cheat her. She lost. And The next person running on that will lost too, especially with the Black voter fatigue from all thwse recent events.

And that's FOUR years away. Ain't nobody thinking about governor til it comes up and only sometimes. She managed to shake it up this year. Everyone's going back to sleep

They didn’t cheat her????? kemp purged over 1,000,000 people off the voting rules for no reason and you still say they didn’t cheat??? if you have this attitude we not talking no more

It wasn't no reason but I'd have to combat a million CNN articles you read to prove it. I'll just say that on two of those pieces I was able to look into the cases on the local level for myself and I saw that it wasn't. As for the sweeping generalizations that have run all over social media about voter suppression in general, I'm sure there is some somewhere , but that's not rely the deal. Just like Republicans have to convince there base to go vote with threats of "evil Mexicans" , the way to get Black people to go and vote is to tell us theirs voter suppression -which is funny in itself. "they're suppressing your vote... So go and VOTE" Lol. Welp... It works and I'm all for voting, so whatever.

Funny how you can have a these victories in the places you named, but somehow on the race she lost- which is ON THE SAME BALLOT , mind you -- he had to have cheated.

I disagree with you purging of the votes had a lot to do with this lost

Then how did the others win?

Notice, there are lawsuits about this that happen and are talked about ONLY during election times. In between time ya never hear about it. And the claims get tossed in court. But when elections come back...here we go again. If ya wanna go over a case of this happening where I can show you it was a hoax I would.

That’s easy there are some people who just voted for down ticket stuff and not the governorship. Even though he got majority of the white vote a lot of white people in Georgia could not stand him but they could not vote for Stacey either

Who votes for down ticket stuff and NOT the governor ? Cmon bro. Seriously?

Anyway, we can discuss a specific incident that I actually saw was bullshit. Two actually. But there kinda long and drawn out.thats doesn't mean there's no such thing, but wen you see an accumulation of bullshit pieces , I tend to get wary

She should've kept the banning gun talk out of her campaign. Had she done that she probably would've won.

She is talking about banning guns in gun country....

Yea not the most well thought out platform...

Democrats play fair and square

Repuikkklans play to win no matter how filthy they get...

Dems need to catch up

Amazon is ramping up its New York charm offensive.

In an open letter on Saturday, the online retail behemoth ticked off a slew of benefits it promises to bring to Long Island City, where it has stirred controversy since it selected the Queens neighborhood in November as a site for its new HQ2 corporate headquarters.

“Happy New Year from your future neighbors at Amazon,” the web giant began in the letter to New Yorkers, which was published Saturday in The Post and other news outlets.

Amid alarming reports about potentially strained sewage systems in the neighborhood by the influx of 25,000 new employees as well as critics who are upset about Amazon’s employment polices, tax incentives and just about everything Amazon stands for, the company is determined to get off on the right foot.

It detailed the investments it’s making in New York, including the tens of thousands of diverse jobs it’s creating, the $27 billion in tax revenues it’ll generate and even real estate that it’s donating to establish a new public school in Long Island City.

“We wanted to make sure you knew some of the details of the investment we are planning in Long Island City and for its residents,” Amazon said.
