UFC on FOX 18 -- JOHNSON v BADER (Jan 30)

I must admit i thought Bader was gonna win cuz he has good hands and wrestling but glad i was wrong.
You forgot one other thing he has...

Man listen....When Bader lost that arm, I thought Rumble was going to break Bader's hands trying to get to his face. Bader tried to cover up, but too damn late. I KNEW Bader was done. I've been watching MMA/UFC for a while, I don't remember getting that amped for a finish. Just completely impressed by Rumble's improvements on the ground and power. Hope Bader had a good nap.

Cormier IS NOT Ryan Bader. Rumble still has some work to do to combat Cormier's wrestling and grappling.

Cormier mma grappling is on point, the only one they can compete
with him on the ground was Jon Jones.

DC had a good gameplan against Rumble.
I watched their 1st fight and Rumble landed some heavy shots
on DC, which made DC smart enough to ETG against Rumble.

- Props to Barbarena for quieting the hype around Sage Northcutt (he needs to work on his defense & ground game)

- Props to Caceres for getting a win

- Good scrap from Ferreira & Aubin-Mercier on the prelims

- Good scrap with Natal & Casey too - entertaining

- Big ups to Rivera for the performance on the main card (seemed like cool people on the Road to the Octagon feature - close with his friends & family, and had the hometown crowd behind him) -

- Surprised by the 2nd round submission of Barnett by Rothwell. Ben's style is awkward and herky-jerky with the stand-up, but that muthafucka is strong and has stopped a good number of people over the years with subs, KOs, TKOs - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ben_Rothwell#Mixed_martial_arts_record

- Tough to get hyped over the main event of Johnson-Bader. We all knew Johnson was either gonna embarass him quickly, or Bader would wrestle-fuck for a boring 25 mins. He fucked up by attempting the takedown from too far out. Good defense & sprawl by Johnson, and quick work on the ground once he had Bader in peril. Again ... hard to get amped up when all the breakdowns from the MMA shows & podcasts lasted 10 times as long as the fight itself, and hell ... their walkouts respectively (and Buffer's introductions of them in-cage) was longer too. Props to Anthony Johnson ... he's no joke ...

- It'll be fun to watch him vs. Jones in the future
- He styled on Phil Davis for their full 15 mins
- Finished Bader in less than 2 mins
- Finished Manuwa in less than 2 rds
- Finished Gustaffson in 2 mins (who himself went 25 mins with Jones)
- Finished Little Nog in 44 seconds
- Nearly finished Cormier in the 1st round ... before later getting subbed out mid-fight in the 3rd rd (Cormier himself having gone the full 25 mins with Jones)

When Bader fights a fighter with knockout power, he wrestlers just look at his fight with Rampage and Rashad. I think Rumble knew what Bader gameplan was so he was ready for it. Also Bader doesn't have the best chin in that division, he's been knocked out a couple of times.

Lol @ the #PrayforDana.

Golden Child Ronda Rousey got dethroned in mid-November.

Golden Child Paige VZ got dominated & bloodied in early-December.

Golden Child Super Sage got subbed in late-January.

A rough few months for the cash king & some of his main hoez.

I questioned Sage's heart and now I know.
Dana White says he 'blew it' by having Sage Northcutt fight sick

Though he was in good spirits and shooting baskets just days after his first professional loss, Sage Northcutt says he went into his fight against Bryan Barberena sick with strep throat. He didn't consider pulling out of the fight, but UFC president Dana White now says that he himself should have squashed the contest.

"He's 19 years old ... " White told BigBoy TV, this week.

"He fought three times in (four) months -- I should have pulled him."

Northcutt, his team and the UFC have been in a huge hurry to push him into the cage and in front of the fans as much as possible since this past fall. It backfired on Saturday, but at least White seems to now realize the mistake.

It needn't have taken a loss to see that the kid is being rushed. Even if Sage had managed to win, an inexperienced teenager fighting so often in the big leagues while also enrolled in college isn't best for his health or skill development.

Northcutt and his team insisted on pressing last week, however. "The kid really wanted to fight and I let him fight and he was sick as hell. I blew it," White continued.

"I blew that one so bad. The kid was super sick and he still wanted to fight. His father said, 'Listen, we still want to take this fight, we want to take this fight.' I should have pulled the kid from the fight."
