@Helico-pterFunk i know you saw Kevin Lee get his ass kicked last night. I'm turning in my fan papers.

Yes - dvr'd and checked it out this AM. Really surprised that Charles Oliveira isn't ranked higher. Tied for the most finishes in UFC history. Up there with the likes of Cerrone, Silva, etc. I was listening to a Kevin Lee interview with Aaron Bronsteter from the TSN MMA Show podcast, and even he (Kevin Lee) noted pre-fight he was surprised at how Oliveira has rounded out his game over the years. Much improved. His record is no joke in recent years -

Yeah. I used to get dude confused with Ferguson. Thanks to Kevin, he's definitely on my list of potential greats. Kevin.... He's just not that good

His former coach Robert Follis' death via suicide definitely messed up his career trajectory. Seems like he's splitting time between Vegas (with Dewey Cooper and company) and Montreal (Tri-Star gym with Firaz Zhahabi & company). Even in a loss, I thought he managed quite well versus Ferguson a few years back.

As for Oliveira ... I like how he mixes up his style. More competent with his stand-up now ... pushes forward quite a bit ... jumping front kicks ... pressure ... and one of the very best ground games in the entire sport. He's a problem for many.

totally agree...but all his losses are to the well known top dawgs..but he obliterates the 2nd tier group of fighers

Indeed. Makes for a tough predicament for many fighters in several divisions. They're amongst the best. Say Top 5 - 10, but not exactly gatekeeper status (as they're still better than that). Especially for the athletes that are still in their prime (say 25 - 35yo).

"Rankings" don't mean shit - especially in the UFC ... but it's still surprising when guys like Oliveira are still just barely in the Top 15. Those 155 & 170 divisions are definitely harder to rank than 125 - 145, and 185 - 265.
