U Have $50 For The Week. How Would U Feed Yourself?

a lot of men on this board and in real life wouldnt survive if it came down to buying food and cooking themselves a meal.

to be honest i havent cooked a real meal in dam near twenty years. thats about how long i have been married. if i set my mind to and a had a couple of trial and errors im sure it would come back to me but you are correct. for the most part dudes dont cook. hell most females dont know how now a days as well. one of the things that stood out to me about my wife was how she could burn some pots man.

10 dollar bag of rice from costco which will last several weeks

store brand greek yogurt two large containers 8 bucks

bananas to cut up in the yogurt 99 cents

container of organic salad greens 4.00 dollars can eat off of those for a week

cucumber for the salad 2 dollars

club pack of chicken breast 17 dollars

clean healthy eating for 50 bucks a month.

FINALLY!!!!!

Get a Costco Membership. Take your $200 dollars and you'll get 5 to 6 weeks worth of quality food. $150 should cover your basic needs. The other $50 you can spend on chips, wine, and other shit.

And the Purdue Honey BBQ chicken wings at costco are killing anything in the game right now. Get them too!

There are different ways I would go...If I was reckless for breakfast I would have Eggs and French Toast every morning, skip Lunch and for Dinner $3 corner store sandwiches, a bag of Onion Rings and an Arizona everyday... probably gain 15 pounds doing this shit

Healthy eating: Breakfast: Cinnamon Oatmeal Dinner3 packs of mixed vegatables, 2 bags of chicken breast and a pack of wheat bread

call sister up, take her to the super market, pick up $300 dollars in grocery and watch her break it down to $50 or less in coupons. she is a coupon queen.
it takes up lots of your time searching and categorizing them, but in the end, you can get very far with coupons.

Shit that's not a problem I only have one person to feed and that's me and I really don't eat much. If I had a family then it would be a problem.

I had four kids and had to live off of $75 every two weeks. Coupons are your friend. Beans and rice are the staple. Chicken, veggies...it was easy. $50 dollars per person per week is easy if you prepare the meals. I was also a faster. I can save $50 for two weeks and buy what I want for the next two.

hey while your bullshiting this is exactly where i go when im on the road. forty dollars and im straight. the hotel room has a microwave and fridge. im talking food and drinks and condiments and cutlery. they even got steaks for a dollar there. :hmm:

real steaks :hmm:

i would question "meat" a dollar store. :smh:  :puke:

If you think for a second that you can eat healthy for 50 dollars a day, do it and try and holla at me in five years, if you're still in good health.

You are correct. Many here are also making the assumption the person has a place to live and store food. Or assumes at a minimum that he or she has access to cooking facilities. Without that there's no way to live on $50 without additional help from somewhere.

This is TOO EASY!!!

$200 is more than enough to feed yourself. This is what I do....

The wife and I budget $200 a month for Grocery. We go to the Tysons Chicken plant where we buy 30 lbs of dark meat for $17.00

That's enough to last us 2 months

Oh, and we simply shop at ALDI

$20 buys us an abundance of fruits and vegetables

$100 buys us enough @ ALDI to last a month...easily

So $120 is all we really need PERIOD...THAT leaves $80.00 ....we go out 2 times a month to dinner.... Scoutmob helps bigtime

Yeah but those are freaking nasty. I tried to eat them in college. Learned how to cook real fast.

For a FAMILY? Depends on the size of the family unit. I've managed to do this for less than $50 per wk, and it was for 2 people.

Below: 1-5 are bulk basics. 6-9 are food enhancers
1. Bags of Rice
2. Eggs (for protein)
3. Dry Beans (that you boil yourself)
4. Oatmeal -or- Farina (palenta for you snobs)
5. Pasta

---- enhancers ----

6. Salt, pepper, aspartime (potent sweetener)
7. Frozen bags of veggies.
8. Garlic
9. Butter

10. Any leftover: Fruits and/or Poultry.

This will STRETCH yo' budget like plastic man.

Don't know man, I like fresh vegetables, and they cost. I don't fuck with iceberg lettuce and bullshit.

I guess if I purchased beans in bulk, brown rice in bulk i'd be ok.

Still, you need spices or you will be a very unhappy person eating all that bland shit.

You can buy a rotisserie chicken at whole foods for 7 dollors (not on sale), all sorts of beans or peas ($1-3), canned fruit, dried fruit, fresh fruit ($1-6), rice ($1-4).

You can make all sorts of dishes with chicken. You can make chilli for under $10. You can also make spaghett for under $10.

The possibilities are endless. People just dont know how to shop.

Sorry that isn't speghetti...

Don't know what kid of rice you buy for 1$

and wasn't that 50 dollars supposed to feed a family or just one person ?

!

Them bitches will pull you through a stretch

i like to eat out....but trying to save money i did this recently...heres what i ate

chili cheese hot dogs and homefries
hot ham and provolone sandwiches with pesto mayo
beef fajitas and spanish rice (used a soy sauce and pineapple marinade)
homemade sausage pizza with copy cat papajohns garlic butter dipping sauce
smothered chicken with rice
zuppa tuscana soup without the kale
broccoli and cheese casserole with chicken

gonna make chicken with pesto cream pasta tonight

just cause your broke doesnt mean u have to eat beans and ramen:D

top ramen is for the ghetto and lazy.... yeah i said it :hmm::lol:

eating 100% organic and healthy is impossible im sorry, maybe if u hit up a farmers market and go vegan but good food is expensive

but just eating a balanced diet normally is easy... niggas sleep on the 99 cent store and dollar trees... they be having the name brand stuff there (they test out products at the 99 cent store)

chicken usually goes on sale, and tilapia is usually cheap too if u have to have meat, chuck is a cheap good tasting cut of meat...

food banks??

there was a story recently about an elected official who's going to live off food stamps for a month or so to get a better understanding on how people who live entirely off food stamps feel, and how it is to be in their shoes.

out here in socal most single people get around $200 in food stamp benefits each month, which works out to $50 per week for food. what would you buy at the grocery store to stretch that low amount to sustain yourself everyday for a week, eating three meals each day?

my guess would be oatmeal, on sale fish, chicken or beef. fruit on sale. vegetables on sale. top ramen. spaghetti. canned tuna. pre packaged salads. cereal. milk. maybe coffee to help cut down on your appetite and hunger pangs? man.....wow. any other guesses, bgol?

sheit how can working poor adults live off just $50 per week in food? cause three high quality cuts of steak at the grocery store will eat up nearly a third of your entire weekly budget.

Cory Booker is living off of around $30 a week ($4 and change per day) as per the SNAPchallenge not $50.

Somebody mentioned food banks, but they are already dealing with record demand for their services. A demand they can't keep up with.

nice work.

Churches should be teaching this method of living within ones means as a method of self empowerment. Saving money, eating at home, and dare I say, conversation at the dinner table!!!

$50 is substantial. I forget BGOL is full of rich niggas that eat breakfast and lunch prepared by a Peruvian maid and Ruth's Chris steaks for dinner everyday :smh:

from this thread it seems like bgol is full of niggas that cant cook and dont know how to make the most of their money at the grocery stores. you have people living off ramen and hungry man dinners like they are in the college dorm again

Ramen Noodles and get creative :D:yes:

But $50 can go a LONG WAY

Loaf of bread - $3
Sandwich meats - $5-$6
Peanut Butter - $3
Jelly - $3
Bag of rice - $5
Pack of chicken legs or thighs - $7 - $8
Canned or frozen veggies - $6 - $8
Pasta - $3
Bottles of pasta sauce - $4
Ground beef for pasta - $5
12 count eggs - $3
Ramen noodles :D

This that I have listed above is below $50, and all you have to do is get creative :D

Dad, is this the "hood"? Yes son, there's tons of Chinese stores and grown men with overpriced jeans but no belt to hold them up. I come here once in a while just to chuckle. This son is your lesson on PRIORITIES. Thanks Dad.
