U Have $50 For The Week. How Would U Feed Yourself?

Oatmeal or cereal for breakfast. Egg whites.

Turkey sandwiches + fruit for lunch

Bag of chicken breast (most expensive purchase)
Bag of frozen talipia

Spinach, green beans, squash, broccoli

Rice, potatoes, corn

Some variation of those items is my routine when I'm eating clean. Almost always under $50

y so serious?

there are more "what would u do with this huge amount of money" threads than "how would u stretch this small amount of money" threads.

who hates on a thread about frugal spending?

Most likely someone who wants to feel important to other people.

And even that isn't expensive. A bag is around $8 and can last a couple days. That's why people always killed me with the whole "it's expensive to eat clean" horseshit. Organic eating is a different story. But people can eat healthy cheap as fuck is they shop correctly.

there was a story recently about an elected official who's going to live off food stamps for a month or so to get a better understanding on how people who live entirely off food stamps feel, and how it is to be in their shoes.

out here in socal most single people get around $200 in food stamp benefits each month, which works out to $50 per week for food. what would you buy at the grocery store to stretch that low amount to sustain yourself everyday for a week, eating three meals each day?

my guess would be oatmeal, on sale fish, chicken or beef. fruit on sale. vegetables on sale. top ramen. spaghetti. canned tuna. pre packaged salads. cereal. milk. maybe coffee to help cut down on your appetite and hunger pangs? man.....wow. any other guesses, bgol?

sheit how can working poor adults live off just $50 per week in food? cause three high quality cuts of steak at the grocery store will eat up nearly a third of your entire weekly budget.

you're talking about mayor Cory Booker from Newark,NJ.

One person eating off the dollar menu at McDonalds will run $300/mo. $200 a mo. is easy for one person at the grocery store. Roughly over $6 a day.

Ive pretty much always lived off less than that whether I've had money or not. $50 is about £30

Always stocked: rice, pasta, spices. These last for ages so once you have those you just need to concentrate on what you need weekly.

Cereal, milk, mince beef, pack of chicken thighs, fruit and veg, eggs, bread, tuna/mackerel will cost me about £20 and certain things will last longer than the week anyway.

As long as you can cook that budget is far from a problem.

when ever i go working on the road the job gives me 40 dollars a day per diam and i always buy enough food for the week with that money and stack the other 40 dollars a day for the rest of the week. it can be done but you wont eat like a king.

the question is not can you feed yourself but can you feed a family off of $50 a week

cereal/oatmeal, eggs, bread, chicken breast, garden salad, beans and rice can keep one person full and healthy as fuck for $50 a week

but that isnt doing shit for a family

If you don't have a family to support it's quite easy. I could live off of goods from Aldi's and the little international grocery store up the street. Hell, I could buy about $15 worth of produce alone and make some decent meals so $50 ain't shit.

dam your per diem is pretty low

50 bucks for woman person is easy if you plan that shit out.....

Dinner
I'd make me some pinto beans with sausage, ham hocks, white rice, and cornbread. Shit if you want to be real cheap pick either rice or cornbread. Pinto beans are actually good for you to.

Another cheap good meal for dinner/lunch is spaghetti. Make a huge pot and it'll last all week.

Lunch
You can always make a good ol ham or turkey sandwhich with a bag of and fruit.

Water is free or cheap from the tap. If you don't want water make you some lipton tea its hella cheap for a 100 box.

Breakfast eat some boiled eggs, oatmeal, or cereal. Add in a fruit in you good.

Crackers are cheap and are good as a snack throughout your day.

Fellas if you get on the internet there are tons of recipes to make in the crock pot or for the single guy on a budget.

True that and you can usually cut a chicken breast piece into 2 pieces and be good. If you really trying to save money buy dark meat its real cheap.

A family would qualify for more

all things being equal its not. they pay for the hotel room and the daily transportation. im not talking about motel 8 either. the per diam is tax free so we are talking $280 a week tax free.

Thats whats sup....Im always interested in what other people get for per diem.......our 10-20-50 basically 80 a day.

If you think for a second that you can eat healthy for 50 dollars a day, do it and try and holla at me in five years, if you're still in good health.

i never touch my pay check when im on the road. i send the whole thing home to the wife and use that per diem to eat and play with. hell most times i use the money on splurge shit or get some ass off back page but thats another thread...:D

people got their noses so far up in the air they complaining about 50 bucks a week. there are people who have to feed families on that amount of money and less.

a single person can eat like a king on 50 bucks. the only thing you would have to remember is to keep the shit out the cart that you want like the bag of chips and cookies and extra shit you dont need to survive.

i used to make it work. pasta, rice, beans, coco bread, tuna etc. i can eat spaghetti with no sauce, or, i can eat sauce w no meat. rice and beans. i had alot of meatless meals back in the day, but i ate.

10 dollar bag of rice from costco which will last several weeks

store brand greek yogurt two large containers 8 bucks

bananas to cut up in the yogurt 99 cents

container of organic salad greens 4.00 dollars can eat off of those for a week

cucumber for the salad 2 dollars

club pack of chicken breast 17 dollars

clean healthy eating for 50 bucks a month.

I could eat off $200 per month. Then again I can cook pretty good and rather make every meal I eat. Folks keep in mind some months have 5 weeks.
