Tyler Perry Studios Grand Opening

any info on how to get a job over there? that shit is down the block form me....

You know, unlike your armchair revolution against Barack "The Puppet" Obama, if you really want the job at TPS, you might actually have to do some leg work like WALK THERE... i mean, it is only Down the Block...

He's too busy letting women lick his ass in order to actually walk somewhere.

Much props and respect for Tyler Perry.

Why am I not surprised that this thread is littered with jealous-ass, criticize-but-ain't-doing shit, cubicle-dwelling, know-it-all-and-don't-know-shit motherfuckers.

 Probably the same crew who would put a "Free Meech" bumper sticker on their ride.:D

I don't understand why people are so quick to throw him down because of one character "Madea" but quick to help Lil Wayne sell a million units in a week... or make I Love New York/ Flava of Love show the #1 shows on VH-1:dunno:

Your talking about different demographics...

Not a big fan of his movies, but its not about HIS movies but the possibilities a positive brother can provide for a starving black film making community that needed something like this! Good job Tyler for looking at the bigger picture.

Because I take a stand on issues, I'm militant??? A term that whites use for Blacks that refuse to bow down. What is that about? Look, Perry is a hard working man and I'm happy for his accomplishments but he got to where he is now because he use black stereotypes.

What do you consider his stereotypes to be?

And for the record I think most of his movies suck. (I Like Why Did I get Married) so I'm just asking a civilized question.

I don't do all that internet fussin...

What is he selling out to?

- first of all, I'm broker than this cat and I will die broker than this dude more than likely and I'm fine with that...nothing I say or do on or offline will stop this mans $$$ flow. so please don't hit me with some "HATER!" shit..

with that said, this man buckdances and shuffles in a womans dress and makeup on camera. he isn't a thug/trap rapper, but he sells the world black stereotypes just like a rapper. these are the keys to his success.

now, spike lee, denzel, will smith etc etc..you've never seen them do anything that was degrading or offensive to our race. Tyler Perry does that, and he does it openly. In fact, the era of "Spike" is over as is Denzel's (his last positive black movie BOMBED), Tyler Perry is ushering in a new Era of black entertainment, and that isn't anything I'm excited about.

I appreciate the respect and I hate the internet fussin, as well.

My number one hang up with TP is the way he stereotypes black women-specifically elderly black woman. I was fortunate to have both of my grandmothers until fairly recently and I will tell you that they act no way near the way TP plays Madea. In fact, I know no elderly women like that. They were real grandmothers. The ones that quilted, cooked Sunday dinner, talk to the youngins about life, showed us how to cook, how to fish and how to farm etc.

TP has had drug addicted black women in his movies, loud and disrespectful women in his movies, I know that in two different movies that he has black mothers not taking care of their children, he plays a gun toting grandmother in his movies and most importantly he depicts a character that disrespects her husband.

He has stereotypes all through his movies and it's sad. If Steve Martin played Madea, would that be okay? Of course not. So, why is it okay for TP?

Huh?!

I am not clear on something you said... if neither one of your grandmothers were like the Madea Character then why do you take offense to it?! He went on Oprah and said he based the character of Madea on his own grandmother and aunts. So if that's the case then why do you care how he chooses to portray members of his own family.

Lastly, all of his chracters are negative, he also balances with the positive ones as well. Every movie has to have an antagonist.....:dunno:

:hmm:

So I guess John McCain got your vote too huh?

1. His studio is in the hood (Greenbriar)

2. He will have approx 300 people working for him. Race has nothing to do with who is and isnt qualified, Esp coming from a guy who had white folks tell him his shit was not bankable.

Serious, Bitches like you need to just SHUT THE FUCK UP... Jealous

He will hire blacks only because he refuses to hire union people and pay union wages and syndication scale.

I know where you are coming from, but here's my take on the Madea situation.

Tyler didn't play that character to "coon" it up for white folks because that wasn't (and isn't) his core base.

The character of Madea is a very common archtype in the South.

Black people identify with the character so much because a number of us have that exact woman in our family ( my grandmother could be considered a toned down version).

Your comparing the character to that of Wesely Snipes in that one movie or a man shuffling and jiving in a dress when they are two different things.

Do i agree with him being in a dress, no but I think I understand why he does it.

Becuse he understands that person(a relative of his) to the point where he could play it better than anyone he could afford to hire at that time.

It's like comparing Eddie Murphy playing a woman in the Nutty Professor to him playing a woman in Norbit.

The Nutty Professor was cool, but Norbit was pushing the line.

And again, I don't even like Tyler's movies so there is no bias here.

But I still don't understand how buying your own studio to create your own shit can be categorized with "selling out".

And what do you think when you see Dave Chappelle dressed as a white man?

I take offense because the images we put out of our culture can be interpreted differently once it hits the media. All grandmothers aren't like that. It's like hip hop videos with hyperactive sexual black women doesn't represent all black women. We ,as a people, have to be very careful with the images we put out because not only do we believe them but whites do to. I blame stereotypes and negative images on the fact that we lack vision as a people.

Also, there's no such thing as balance when it comes to good and bad, negative and positive. The negative will always be remembered-always. That's just our human genetic makeup.

And what do you think when you see Dave Chappelle dressed as a white man?

- I think it's funny. but if dave chappelle, every time he was on TV or made a movie, was dressed up as some white guy character that he created, and then WRITE A BOOK AS THIS WHITE GUY CHARACTER - I'd call it the same thing....he is buckdancing/shuffling his way all the way to the bank..

much like a prostitute out in Vegas - yeah she is balling, but she had to fuck 100 men to do it.

lmaooo
i knew this thread would turn into this

- tyler perry is a somewhat polarizing figure in black america, you may as well get use to that as long as tyler perry is still making movies...go check his forum over at imdb.com, same shit.

I can tell you for a fact that Madea exsists.

And those other people you consider stereotypes exsist to.

I see them all the time.

It's like saying you hate Good Times because its stereotypical but you love the Cosby show when both shows were realistic.

If Tyler Perry is anything he's fair.

He shows black people of the whole spectrum, from the "pride" to the "shame" of our race.

It sounds like you want it to all be one thing, which is unrealistec.

If anything he turns some stereotypes on their head, Daddy's Little Girl's(which I hated:lol:) being an example...

I hope dude never comes out the closet
cause
right now he the most important black man in hollywood..
he proves you can cater to the black community and still make money...
make movies about black people for black people..

look at the difference between tyler perry and will smith..

will smith got more money
but
which one of them is putting more black actors to work in hollywood...

props to dude for real..
fuck will smith...

I haven't watched anything of Tyler's in years, but I do admire this dude hustle.

I can respect that dude's drive. To think of where he started, and where he is now ...

...if you think your situation is insurmountable, it's people like that that are proof that being down doesn't mean you're out.

Wait to he start digging into the mainstream action flix with A list actors Tyler Perry will be unstoppable. He should be a inspiration for all playwriters and screenwriters to one day owning a Film studio and putting out material whenever and making Long money
