The Better Sister

There's definitely some fun to be had in this twisty murder mystery. The banter and tension between the sisters magazine executive Chloe Taylor (Jessica Biel) and estranged sister Nicky (Elizabeth Banks) is great as she searches for the person who killed her husband, Adam (Corey Stoll still proving he would be a great Lex Luthor ). As things pile on as much as suspects with sinister expressions it's fun watching the pasts unravel but as my family and i are nearing the end, characters are becoming to smug and cartoonish. I'm getting the feeling that the character portrayed by Lorraine Toussaint , Catherine Lancaster is what Oprah is like when the cameras aren't on

Predator: Killer of Killers

PRAISE: The Predator franchise continues to thrive in the streaming service HULU. It not only provides something exciting and involving but also creative. The movie is divided into 3 chapters a Viking raider in 1841, a ninja and samurai brother in 1629, and an American squadron of fighter pilots in 1942 with various Predators drawn to warriors and battles. The animation is sharp for the most part and i praise everyone for all the hard and beautiful work put into it.There is a 3D look to some of it which I liked. The character stories and the characters themselves are interesting with some very cool settings. There's plenty of violence and gore as to be expected by anyone who watches anything under the Predator banner. Some great things are done with the music throughout the movie. There is some nice stacking in the films last 30 minutes that was truly involving as various predicaments are introduced. The producers and writers are keeping things interesting for fans and casual viewers of the latest Predator films.

PROBLEMS: There was definitely some plot armor here and there. The introduction of the chapters should have been done differently because after the first it just lead to predictable paths for a couple of characters.

Carl, portrayed greatly by Matthew Goode a former top-rated detective, who i believe has every right to be angry at the world and pushed into therapy so he can remain a detective but its not so bad in my opinion because he gets to spend time with the lovely Kelly Macdonald as Dr. Rachel Irving while reluctantly putting together a team of highly likeable characters : Jamie Sives as James Hardy,Alexej Manvelov as Akram Salim and Leah Byrne as Detective Constable Rose Dickson. They take on an involving and extremely twisty missing persons case.

Season 5 Final Season
10 Episodes

7/10

I watched the final season today and finished it this afternoon at home on Netflix.

Not gonna go into it so I don’t spoil it for others.

It starts out in NYC with Joe/Kate planning on restarting their lives clean.

The first 5 episodes are a slow burn introduction Kate’s family with the main plot revolving around them.

The end of episode 5 introduces a big twist. If you are familiar with this series, there are always big twists in the main plot.

A number of characters going back to season one make returns or shown in flashbacks.

For the Gay Agenda trackers, there is one openly Gay BM, nothing is shown. The female Trans from Netflix’s “Baby Reindeer” has a small role, nothing is shown.

For the InCells, there is a scene involving internet InCells that you will approve of.

The last episode isn’t suspenseful, but it the series ends in an unexpected way. The series does end for a potential future spinoff dealing with one of the characters.

Synopsis

Joe Goldberg returns to New York City to live a peaceful life, but the appearance of a woman, Bronte, and the need to satisfy his darkest needs will put his entire life in danger.

Hellbound
2022

5/10

This popped up on my recommendations last year. I sat on it cuz as we know, Netflix loves abruptly cancelling shit.

I saw earlier this month it has a 2nd season coming, so I decided to check it out.

First, this is a very slow burn series. If you suffer from TV ADHD, I recommend this series is not for you. If you do decide to watch it, i recommend only watching an episode a day or more to allow it to soak in. This is not a binge watch series. It took me just over a week to finish it and I do not suffer from TV ADHD.

Second, the premise somewhat follows the classic “The Ring” movie, but goes off into a completely different direction. It also delves into religion. It’s not a religious series, so it’s not preaching or trying to deliver any type of religious message. It does show how powerful extremist groups are and how much control they can have over people.

Without spoiling it, the first 3 episodes is character/story introduction/development. How the episodes play out thru-out the series doesn’t follow the standard format. You will quickly notice this after episode 3.

Again, without spoiling it, the last 15 minutes of the season finale will take the show into a different direction and the final season is gonna really get you interested in a season two. There is also a Social Media’ character shown thru-out, he is annoying, but just bear with it…..

The series is from Korea. Netflix has it dubbed in English, subtitles used for graphics/signage.

Synopsis

Unearthly beings deliver condemnations, sending individuals to hell and giving rise to a religious group founded on the idea of divine justice.

Hellbound
2024
Season 2
6 episodes

5/10

Season 2 debuted last year. I was supposed to watch it last year, but got sucked into watching and catching up on other stuff.

I started watching the episodes earlier this month and finished up this morning while sitting at a loading dock waiting for these lazy mofos to load the truck.

Just like the first, it’s a slow burn series. It isn’t for people who suffer from TV ADHD. If you do suffer from TV ADHD and interested in watching it. I highly recommend watching one episode at a time to allow it too soak in.

The series again goes into a different direction with connecting the story to what is going on in today’s politics in the US and around the world. It does it using religion instead of politics.

One of the primary characters (Jeong Jin-soo, the cult leader) was replaced in Season 2 cuz he got in trouble in real life.

It ends with a decent cliffhanger that will lead into season 3. Netflix has not confirmed a season 3 at this time. But with Korean series they rarely go more than 3 seasons making it a trilogy. With how the story has developed, I doubt this series can go more than 3 seasons. If/When a 3rd season is approved, it should debut in 2027.

The Netflix has it dubbed in English, subtitles used for onscreen graphics related to what is going on in the scene.

Synopsis

Jung Jinsu, founder of the religious cult the New Truth, is back after being condemned to hell for several years. Upon his return, he realizes the dicta of the New Truth and its more extreme sect, the Arrowhead, now rule society. But when Jinsu finds out he’s not the only one who’s come back to the land of the living, he seeks to understand what being resurrected has done to — and for — him. Is resurrection really damnation, as the New Truth preaches, or could it be the path to true salvation?
