TV News: ‘Good Times’ Voice Cast Revealed for Seth MacFarlane - Norman Lear Animated Series on Netflix

Like I mentioned earlier, when they go on these talk shows, they go over on what to discuss and what not to discuss so there is no “Gotcha” moment.

And with Fallon, Kimmel and Colbert. All 3 of those shows have White hosts, white producers and white writers with a predominantly white studio/tv audience.

When they have a guest promoting something new, they usually show a clip of the movie/show.

Those producers knew if they showed a clip of this series with an all White audience laughing, they would get massive blowback.

All those shows have interns on the staff whose job is too sit there and monitor the internet on what’s viral/trending. They all saw those series was getting negative blowback and reported it too the producers/writers.

:itsawrap:

“I was always rooted in [the fact that] I understand if this is jolting. Because what you needed was someone to tell everyone, ‘I know you’re used to the sweet sitcom, but this is not only a reimagination, it’s in a different genre that requires it to be loud and offensive and have hard jokes and inappropriate. So your mind is doing a lot of different things.’”

@blackbull1970

Is she saying our minds aren't sophisticated enough to understand this cartoon?
again we ALREADY has this 20 years ago... eddie murphy produced it

so what theyre doing isnt original....they just hi-jacked an existing IP with a built in fanbase and expected support simply because...

I really don't want to.

They just announced Velma second season after ALL those complaints and petitions.

And I truly believe its because the HATE WATCHING numbers is what did that.

So its like they using the game (the algorithm) against us

If we watch it? the ratings justify another season regardless of quality

If we don't watch it?

Well see you judging something you didn't even watch.

and especially because its "black" its gonna be used that we don't support Black content.

To me its telling that I do NOT see any of the white faces involved promoting this

And Steph aint either.
Just download it on the high seas and avoid giving it any numbers. I'm personally good, I already hate everything Seth McFarland related so I knew this would be trash. Also fuck Steph.
Good Times reboot showrunner hits back at criticism over ‘lazy’ Black stereotypes

The backlash began as soon as the first trailer was released, and speaking to The Hollywood Reporter showrunner Ranada Shepard attributed the poor initial reception to the fact that cast members such as JB Smoove, Yvette Nicole Brown and Jay Pharoah had not given interviews to promote or explain the new show.

Figured it would be a bitch.

Guess not - cause the show runner just threw her cast under the bus. JB HAS been on a promo tour for the Curb series finale... and doesn't seen to want to talk about it.

And despite that they HAVE tried to defend the show actually she is incorrect there too.

JB his comedy gold with Curb. Larry David brought blacks onto his show just as the Katrina bullshit was fading and he knew EXACTLY how to write in black characters and their story. It was perfect.

He actually sidelined his OWN costars to push the black guest stars and then brought them back like a rotating cast list. The writing used our stereotypes in a responsible way to hold a mirror up to whites. Controversy avoided.

Usually, any sort of controversy brewing for a show would cause backlash viewership.

look at X Men 97 and how they rolled out however…

This is causing backlash dismissal. Like the Amazon Rings shows. Nobody is really that interested. The timing is off. The news and media has shifted back to the whites and the outrage is over anti-semitism and Palestinian viewpoints. They almost forgot about Ukraine and the Police/ black victim narrative is all but stalled.

I was really just playing devil's advocate with this comment, but I'll own this L like a champ, because this comment has been completely demolished by reality.

I never expected a wholesale denial of reality from the creator(s), but here we are.

Nope. You were right. There is a bunch of bullshit happening here.

This might be right. Not only do they not want the potential backlash, they just dont seem to even care. It fizzled. Done. Wasted.

the only fear is that the shit was still produced, will still be available on Netflix in a decade and our kids will see this nonsense and believe it is a faithful adaptation of what our lives were like.

And yes, human beings are that stupid. I was chit chatting with some young whiteys at my work and they were talking about throat banging Donna Reed, calling Lucy and her husband commies and believing that Hogans Heroes was real. I said niggas… SMH

Watched it last night.

Pretty informative on how the original series was presented.

Jimmy Walker, that cat must have a zillion stories that have not been heard from back in the 1970s. With what little he shared, dude was everywhere with everybody.

Jimmy can tell a story and stay straight too the point.

I didn't like how dismissively he treated the show its impact its legacy

Especially I'm front of his co stars.

he came off self centered conceited and disrespect.

Ok to be fair he was always that but with this anniversary and the controversy around the animated series I really thought he would be on better behavior

He has always been a prick. And he is a certified Republican.

You notice when the cartoon came up in discussion , he immediately pointed to BernNadette to discuss it.

He did make it clear he is a fan of Seth McFarland and his style of humor, but tried to save himself saying Seth wasn’t the right person to do that type of comedy the animated series portrays.

All this times a thousand

You covered it perfectly

#I trusted him

Did this shit get cancelled yet?

Most of the remakes/reboots have only gotten one or two seasons.

The Wonder Years got two seasons
That '90s Show got two seasons
Punky Brewster got one season
Murphy Brown got one season
Frasier reboot got two, I think.
They tried an animated reboot of The Golden Girls that didn't get picked up.
Good Times is still TBD.
And I know for a fact Lebron's company was trying to produce and shop an animated version of A Different World.

They do hit on some, though. The Equalizer got like five or six seasons. Same for Fuller House.
