Master Of Kung Fu was inspired by (some could say ripped off) and designed to capitalize off the Bruce Lee kung fu craze in the 70s. Shang Chi very well may be the first Asian comic hero in the US. Thanks Bruce!!
I have this issue and it was a cool story.. I see they have one of them in the show and turned him into a white guy...anyone gonna complain??
Facts!! That's the one thing that erks me about some movies. Some characters have been diminished to mere shadows of themselves.
I think cause robert downey junior had a damn good contract and crowd reaction..tony stark was THE super genius up front.he carried the mcu.plus the ultimate version (which the mcu is based on) hank pym used to get drunk and slap wasp around.
Sleep on hank pym if you want..616 hank pym is a G.the mandarin too..

in the comics tony stark was an alcoholic who at one point lost stark international to Obadiah Stane in a hostile take over AND his alcoholism was the reason rhodey had to take over as iron man... in fact for a period of time in the comics rhodey was iron man...then stark recovered and because he did such a good job in the suit stark made an ironman suit for rhodey and thats how war machine came to be.I think cause robert downey junior had a damn good contract and crowd reaction..tony stark was THE super genius up front.he carried the mcu.plus the ultimate version (which the mcu is based on) hank pym used to get drunk and slap wasp around.

it was a great story arc that was never even hinted at in the MCU...I don't think they ever established that stark has a drinking problem in the movies. I assume its because RDJ is a real life recovering addict and it may hit too close to home tho..
in the comics Shang Chi big nemesis was his father Dr. Fu Manchu im not sure how well that flies in todays age but much of his recurring issues was with his father.

True, but don't forget Reed Richards is gonna be up In the MCU soon !
I give credit to Marvel (Disney) for rebranding these characters. There's a reason why these 70s era superheroes

Actually Stark's history was hinted at in IM1 and shown in IM2 when Tony got Dunk at the party and fought Rhodey... Then Rhodey took his suit and had Justin Hammer militarize it...
IM2 took elements from Demon in a Bottle and Armor Wars...
And yeah Fu Manchu wouldn't fly well...
That's why the MCU is giving Shang Chi, IMO, a better background with the Mandarin as his father...

Disney is just doing it to get into the Chines market, but it is still good to see heroes of color on tv.
The downside is you wont ever see an Chinese villian in any of these movies or China wont allow the movie in their theaters.
when people say gritty what they mean is a lot of blood. Its a middling comic title and by middling I don't just mean in popularity but in presentation...tho action packed..it wasn't a blood soaked comic so the live action is in line with that.
Yea I remember as a kid reading iron man when he had the triangle display on his chest..dude got off a mission and started getting drunk immediately.then he get back in the suit drunk and just did dumb shit at high speeds.

Yeah. Kinda. The customs look too clean and plastic. The actors faces look like they wearing make up. It aint "real".

Yeah, that shit was trash from the minute they cast the lead. But to be fair Feige had nothing to do with it.
And now that I think back on those shows, the HUGE problem with almost all of them is none of the characters looked realistic in fights. JJ wasn't a fighter per se so she was okay but the rest looked stiff as boards. Except for Charlie; that's the main reason his show was so good.

Nah. At this point, we have to start looking at fatigue. Too many characters, too many movies will kill the golden goose. Fist is okay as a TV show, possibly a cameo or two in a movie but I don't think he's a moneymaker at the box office.
Word is the entire Daredevil cast will be coming to the big screen and that's great - but also another hero in the mix. Would be fantastic if they could get Bernthal as Punisher too. But again, another hero. DD is a well-liked character so no problems there. So is Punisher. Fist not so much.
