CNN has confirmed author Toni Morrison is dead at the age of 88, according to her publisher.

She died last night at Montefiore Medical Center in New York.

Her books were detailed and powerful - revolutionary even. "Song of Solomon" comes to mind. One of the greatest modern writers of my lifetime.

And her thick white dreads were like the beautiful crown of an Afrikan queen of antiquity.

I'm truly sorry to hear of her passing.

Thank you for your amazing gift of your pen Mother Morrison, I wish you good rest.
