this job thing..........

oh yeah, and the US Census Bureau is hiring, pay depends on area.. i took the test and passed with a 95%, so they want me to call back in March 1st and apply for Supervisor..

In my area, the census jobs pay $20/ hr w/ flexible schedule and they are considering letting non-citizens apply since people aren't showing that much interest. That is CRAZY to me. I know the job market here is better than alot of places but there are still ALOT of cats out of work. I dont know why those jobs arent being snatched up by somebody.

I got three job offers this week and two were complete scams... I checked out "American Income Life" online and the third Google suggestion was "American Income Life scam;" I spent hours reading arguments on both sides and really wanted to believe in it but decided there were just too many signs it was bullshit. Same with "World Financial Group," I technically didn't even get that job because I didn't bother showing up for the interview but the dude keeps calling me and I know I could get it... if I was a sucker.

I'm exploring other avenues and I don't think it'll be too difficult plus I have a little thing going... It just sucks how these parriahs are taking advantage of people, especially in these times.

One thing I learned from back when I had a job is that if the job is too EASY to get, then I don't want it.

Yeah, I can definitely co-sign that... The trouble comes when there's no medium between "way too easy" and "impossible"...

Actually, though, the little thing I have going was very easy to get and it's legit... Just gotta be wary of situations where you can be fucked over.

the thing is (like i said a few pages back) find out about the job beforehand so you aren't wasting your time.

I didn't read the rest of the thread. Did you apply with the resume of owning stores/having extensive experience? Pare your resume down to the experience level of the average male then try again

i didn't mark my positions as owner but as either regional mgr., ditrict mgr., dir. of sales, etc....

Back to the original topic...

In DC/MD/VA, I'm sure it's relatively easy to get the low-hanging fruit as it is in Ohio. I'm sure I could've gotten a low paying $15/hr job pretty quickly but, I'd have to work 3 or 4 of those jobs to make what I'm accustomed to earning. I've been unemployed for the last 2.5mos & I JUST gotta new gig this week. Shit's only for 3mos & they still talked me down on my hourly rate to $54/hr. I mean, it's better than $15/hr but, $54/hr ain't shit. And I'll have to go thru this shit again in 3mos when the gig's done.

The point I'm making is that it doesn't benefit those who are unemployed to accept jobs that won't allow them to take care of their financial business.

 Thats fine im living very well.....unlike you I don't need post to my life story/ everything i do all day everyday every 5 mins to get bgol fans .........40 years old fishing for E props...sad

again it's all relative. i'm not too sure about the cost of living in DC but 15/hr here is probably almost equivalent to what you are making living there. but again i dont' know what it's like there.

Is sales really that lucrative? I recently encountered a RV sales rep in Atlanta, and said things were very good in sales.

In the mid nineties I avg 60k in car sales then 83k in phone sales based off of a 21k salary plus commission

My phone employees make min. wage but avg 25-30 with my top salespeople making about 45-50k

Mixed bag depending on the person.

I can use my brother (28) and sister (23) as examples.

My sister is moving down here next week and has already had two interviews, one of which is a management position.

She has very little experience but knows how to network, has a very good resume and has no hang ups about working anywhere to bring in a check.

My brother has been in/out of jobs for the past year and a half.

He is working at a dollar store right now part time because he doesn't want to work better jobs that pay more money.

Neither one of them have criminal back grounds, just a bunch of speeding tickets.

Go figure.

how do you get a management job with no experience?

actually how does an entrepreneur personal trainer get a management job?

on a dare i went job hunting just to see what the end results would be.

i applied at 28 locations in the past two weeks, went to 11 interviews and was offered jobs at 4 places, all paying more then $14 an hour in northeast ohio.

so what really is the problem????????:confused::confused:

i don't think ohio could handle a third of the state of california relocating to your town in the hope of getting one of those four jobs

most of the time you can't unless you know someone, or prior military experience counts towards management, or some college programs.

lol you're saying we should take advice from you?

what is it that you do exactly? lie about attending law school?

Do your own thing, got tired of waiting on the phone to ring, got some cash flipped it into making my websites. Got some good advice to get traffic to them.

Mannnnnnnnn Adam, mannnnnn I don't know what to tell you man. I mean on some real I don't even wanna make fun of you for being a ex-con because we all make mistakes but damn brah, I wouldn't wanna reveal that on the internet to a bunch of strangers.

I'll be a fake law student if you want, a alcoholic if you want, shit whatever you wanna call me out on but, I'd rather keep my family and personal life off BGOL.

Just damn. Ex con looking down on mufuckas huh? :smh::smh::smh:

*took a screen shot by the way Adam*

For starters, get yourself a website/blog. You can get that for free.

Get back at me when you have that set up. Doesn't have to be elaborate, it can be a wordpress blog, something simple and clean.

*perks ears*

I'm listening too JD. Don't bother responding until I get through this thread cause you probably answered some more of his questions.

Good stuff.

Have you ever tried to live on $14 an hour.

:smh::eek:

noone said anything about the unemployment issues wasn't real.

i'm just saying fully asserting yourself in the game will yield results.

meaning..

1. lose the attitude.
2. going by what i see especially in black males, goto an interview properly prepared. be equipped to answer questions. since i usually do the interviewing, i already know what to expect. you can do the same thing. impress them with your on hand knowledge of the company you are applying for.
3. don't arrive 30 minutes early or 1 minute late. 10 minutes early will do the job.
4. even if you submitted a resume, bring 2 extra. two of the interviews i did i was offered jobs for, there were more then one person in the room conducting the interview. that was a plus to them that i was able to hand them both a copy
5. don't be afraid to talk about your achievements...even at 35 going on 36 i still bring up (when asked to tell them about myself) national honors society....gainfully employed since age 14....employee of month....job performance...
6. look them in the eye and not at your feet.

To build on #2 ... 80% of your time preparing for the interview should be spent doing research. Learn about the history of the company as well as what the company is doing now. Learn where the company is trying to go as well.

If you can find any info about your interviewer or the people in the dept you are interviewing for that will be gold.

BE ON SOME STALKER SHIT.

guess i'm not the only one with this line of thought.

yesterday in the local news and papers there was a big discussion about people crying there are no jobs yet companies listing advertisings in classifieds/sites for jobs can't find people to fill them.

220 jobs that were open last week only 32 were filled.

Out of curiosity, can you post a link to the article(s)?

I almost want to compare the fields being filled as opposed to those supposedly staying vacant but 32/220 seems a ridiculous rate regardless.

Still, I wonder how many of those are either part-time (which is better than nothing, I understand) or jerking-your-chain type jobs.

As far as your overall perception, don't forget your state isn't even in the top 10 for unemployment-- Michigan's rate is almost 50% worse than Ohio's.

If my memory is correct, President Reagan did a similar thing with a newspaper back in the '80s. Didn't go over well with the masses... like this thread did here. :dunno:
