This is Lagos - The City so big it needs it own thread

Lagos is a great city. problems and all. if you can make it in lagos, you can make it anywhere. i am ghanaian but i went to primary school in lagos so lagos will always have a place in my hear. If i were to compare Lagos to a snack, it would be like them sweet and sour candy, depending on where you find yourself, it can be sweet or sour...you can experience the full array of life and humanity from the greatest to the worst in Lagos. And that is how most of the big cities in Africa are it seems. On my recent trip to Ghana, a business buddy of mine had just returned from the congo just in time for the all white party i threw for my cousin (see pic below)...and he was telling me about Kinshasa. he said he had never witnessed a situation like that before where he was extremely sad and extremely happy at the same time. why? because of the economic divide. Some of the low key most wealthiest people on the planet...living in the same city with some of the poorest. He obviously spent most of his time on the rich side of town and he was telling me how stuff like fresh lobster and caviar was being flown in daily overnight from paris for night parties on the rich side of town...so my thing is this, At the end of the day, the best way to describe Africa is a continent of contrasts. that's just what Africa is. Will it ever change and how will it change? only time will tell. banana city is definetly on my bucketlist of places to visit

Lagos is kinda dusty and dangerous asf. Please do your research if you plan to visit. I’m hittin up Johannesburg or Cape Town the next time I visit the continent. I want nothing but thick Zulu booty around me.
and who told you johannesburg is not dangerous? you better not be caught slipping down there or we will be reading your obituary over here if you go down there like a sucka ass

I’m not but the reality is I’ve been around way too many Nigerians who look down on Us and talk mad shit. Same with them light bulb headed Ethiopians yet they run to America after we built this shit up.

To be fair, Nigerians love talking shit about every group (Ethiopians, Americans, English, etc.), including their own people. No different than this forum, honestly.

Some Nigerians are cool, some not so much, just like ever other group of folks. The ones I know personally are cool AF.

Kind of sounded like Michael Blackson :roflmao2:

Nigerians are the neighbors of his people. It's hilarious when they get animated talking shit about a crazy situation

Yeah Nigerians over dramatize shit. My American wife can tell when I’m talking to a Nigerian on the phone. The volume of my voice and exaggeration has to go up by 80%. Lol.

It's hilarious to witness

A couple weeks ago, I was on a large conference call with Microsoft Corp. in the beginning stages of negotiating a new government contract with Microsoft. Me and a colleague are diplomatically explaining to Microsoft why certain terms won't get approved and what needs to be changed/added, so then, another colleague (Nigerian) and good friend cuts in: "We (Government agency) are not giving you (Microsoft) a blank check!! No!!" (then abruptly exits the conference call in dramatic fashion)

{awkward silence from Microsoft Corporation}

Me and a female colleague exited our cameras and muted our microphones to crack TF up in peace

He was right, but the way he said it, as if addressing kids, was hilarious.

Lol.. hate that I subconsciously do this too; its really a bad habit

Nigerians have grifting in their nature. Particularly of Black Americans. In my early days in business, I had so many conversations with “Prince So and So”, whose uncle was the head of the Oil ministry or something, and if I would just wire some serious cash in their account in Lagos, they would ship a shipload to me tomorrow. This was a special offer only to Black businesses. I didn’t get ripped off, but I know guys who did. And, I did spend a week at the Hilton in Lagos waiting for the muhfuhkahs. I refuse to even talk to a summadabitch once I know he’s from Nigeria. I had a muhfuhkah last year rent some retail space from me, gave me a check from a London bank for deposit that eventually bounced twice and, before I could evict him, borrowed $400K from the SBA. Nigerians are taught grifting from birth.

Just wanted to point out the dysfunction in a city located in the most powerful nation on earth. This behavior is done fashionably while they watch their constituents drinking poisoned water. Wait..it’s not Lagos.

Could see Samuel L Jackson portraying this guy in a movie

Where did I say Johannesburg wasn't dangerous? I'm not green to this travel shit bruh.

I gotta get out there sometime soon.

No offense, but aint nobody impressed with Nigeria except Nigerians.

Even their endorsement of the country rings hollow, as they trying hard AF to leave and never go back.

???

Are you suggesting another city in Africa???

Ignorant and proud of it, huh?

Ignorant? Nah, far from it.

Ya'll just cant handle a tiny drop of criticism from an 'Akata.'

I know better than to judge a city by how much architecture it can display.

What is unseen is how Nigeria has the biggest energy production gap in the world.

For a major energy producer, its citizens hardly have access to electricity to the tune of 60% to 70% [which hasn't changed since this report].

Every day massive sections of cities have their power cutoff with the exception of rich areas.

You cant have a 21st century standard of living with numbers like those, and this is only one of the issues plaguing that country that i'll touch on here.

Nigeria is an embarrassment* to the diaspora.

*Dont tempt me to air more of the dirty laundry of that backwards-ass country.

I read about how many Black Americans can’t wait to move out of America as well , so it happens everywhere I guess. But what have you tangibly contributed to your country. I can tell you what I’ve done for your country. I’ve employed and consistently paid 5 Americans among other things.

Nobody cares.

My bad, I wouldn’t have known. Considering the way you were banging on the keyboard about us.

That's just it. On the world stage, Nigerians don't matter. Not really.

Even you didn't matter until you came here with us, and enjoyed the fruits of our progress.

But having been privy to those back room Anti-African-American convos Nigerians routinely have, I developed a hobby of triggering the nobodys.
