Did you mean to type that, really. You do realize that if the other person is dead the only word people have to go on is yours. Only two people know what happened that night, Trayvon and George. If Trayvon is dead, George can customize the story to his liking. I cant exploit Trayvons death because of some deep rooted hatred that I have toward other people. At the end of the day a child lost his life over some bs. At even after the verdict..thats the only thing that saddens me.
As for what Black people should do to prevent this from happening again? Well all that you can do is train yourselves and your children on how to handle situations like those. a two-sided story can bring an argument for the jury to decide. but only two people know EXACTLY what happened that night and one of them is dead.
so, the burden of proof is much, much harder with only 1 version of the events. the state didn't have a counter-argument; their client is dead.
and the witnesses brought forward by the prosecution, esp. that young lady was laughable, at best. that whole prosecution team was a 'disgrace.' and that's what the defense lawyers called them... a "disgrace."

the jury did not find zimmerman, "innocent" of any crimes.
the state just did NOT bring enough evidence and/or tie enough evidence together to REMOVE reasonable doubt for self defense... so the jury found him, "not guilty."

the jury probably did NOT believe zimmerman's version of the story, but the only story told was his... bc Trayvon is dead and the witnesses were weak.
remember, the defense doesn't have to say shit... they can remain quiet the whole time. and with that weak prosecution team... this case was a slam dunk.

In a move which could have dramatic ramifications, the Justice Department confirmed today that it will look into the shooting death of Trayvon Martin to determine whether federal prosecutors should file criminal charges against George Zimmerman in the wake of his acquittal.
The department opened an investigation into Martin's death last year but stepped aside to allow the state prosecution to proceed.
In a statement Sunday, the Justice Department said the criminal section of the civil rights division, the FBI and the U.S. Attorney's office for the Middle District of Florida are continuing to evaluate the evidence generated during the federal probe, in addition to the evidence and testimony from the state trial.
The statement said that, in the government's words, 'experienced federal prosecutors will determine whether the evidence reveals a prosecutable violation.'
Outraged: NAACP President and CEO Benjamin Todd Jealous (center) has launched a petition to have federal civil rights charges brought against George Zimmerman by Attorney General Eric Holder
This moves follows demands from a furious NAACP for the Obama administration to intervene.
Already, over 100,000 people have signed up to an online petition and the NAACP has written a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder urging the Department of Justice to press civil rights charges against 29-year-old Zimmerman.
In his first public statement since the verdict, President Barack Obama called for calm on Sunday after the acquittal of George Zimmerman in the fatal shooting of unarmed black teenager Trayvon Martin, saying his death was a tragedy and that the country should seek ways to stem gun violence.
'We are a nation of laws and a jury has spoken,' Obama, the first black U.S. president, said in a statement.

It's easy to just blame the prosecutors and not the jury. For one the system was on the defenses side. Which is out of the ordinary. Yet we know there are black defendants put away with even less evidence and with a lot doubt. This case just shows we are reverting back to Jim Crow were niggas best know there place because there is no justice for you.

This is what I ultimately keep going back to & was saying to Dray when he was very vocal about the fuckery going on. The State could've presented a perfect case & it wouldn't have mattered. The skepticism in all Blacks believe GZ was always going to be found not guilty.
Honestly, listening to the jurors affirm their decision...only one sounded clear, concise, & confident in her yes. The other 5 sounded scared, ashamed, rushed, & like they were reluctant. In the end, we don't get the benefit of the doubt...we get the short end of the stick all the time.
