After looking at the ANIMATION, which the defense is gonna use during closing args, the DEFENSE has a REAL problem.
Fact: The cell phone records support the Jeantel's account that she was on the phone with TM up until they got disconnected.
Now, her testimony was that the disconnection came at the time of, AND was due to the confrontation.
Here's the DEFENSES problem: In the animation, which is the SECOND attempt by GZ/defense to recount the event. In this animation, it shows TM just walk up to GZ, HANDS AT HIS SIDE, then punch GZ. However, in the animation, they don't show TM on the phone, as he walks up to GZ. Where's the phone??
This is why Rachel Jeantel's testimony is REALLY important. They'd have to discredit her testimony, that she wasn't on the phone with TM at the initiation of the conflict/encounter. The TIME log, PLUS her testimony, assails the defenses animation account that TM initiated the conflict.
On rebuttal, if the prosecution exploits this discrepancy . . . along with all of the other lies and inconsistencies, in conjunction with Jeantel's testimony, the jury has reason cause to consider murder 2.
