I agree. He the king of playing politics unless u marry the boss's daughter.

Who, Hulk? Hell yeah. He seemed to be a good sport during his WWF/Hulkamania days but that's when everything was going his way. The asshole came out when he went to WCW and he's only gotten worse as he's gotten older.

Not true. There used to be an emphasis on logic in storytelling in wrestling until Vince Russo became a significant factor in the WWF.
I got why people liked the storyline, I just didn't like it. I didn't like it or the way Austin had been watered down once he turned full babyface and he had his time as Superman too. If he hadn't got his neck broken and had two bad knees, he might have gotten old to the fans as well.

You can tell a story but only if you suspend common sense, for example how the hell can one group(NWO)take over a company?. Austin did have his superman time but when he got his ass kicked he knew to stay down and sell it, as for becoming stale that happened in 02 and it was about time to hang it up. Austin & Rock don't fit in with this new era and i glad because that would mean that they've become pg pussies as well.

He's not on their level but few are. The fact is he's a legend, some legends are bigger than others. I don't think Rock made him but Austin and Foley definitely did but they were supposed to since they were the established superstars while he was the guy they were trying to get over. They did for him what Bret Hart and Undertaker did for them.
He did have a title handed to him but that's what they were doing back in those days. WCW did it a few times and WWF did it. But HHH was a good leading guy but only as a heel. He never got over fully as a full babyface once he was elevated past the IC level.

Rock = Summer Slam 98
Foley = Royal Rumble 00
Austin = No Way Out 01

Each person contributed greatly to his success and if it weren't for them he would've been a 40+ year old guy still doing DX Shtick.....ummm:lol:

Hell yeah, he should have put Booker over at Mania. When you have your champ tell a guy he's not on "his level" and then goes out and beats him clean with his finisher, you just hurt Booker as a main eventer and it took years and a gimmick change to undo the damage.

Not only that but in Booker's final match at Summer Slam he was promised that he would not be squashed by HHH and he got screwed again as well. I figured he would lose but to get basically no offense in was an insult to him and showed how big HHH ego truly is.

Who, Hulk? Hell yeah. He seemed to be a good sport during his WWF/Hulkamania days but that's when everything was going his way. The asshole came out when he went to WCW and he's only gotten worse as he's gotten older.

Remember the story of taking his 400k paycheck for summerslam and wiping his ass with it saying "This would be a good payday for my driver"? I bet he wishes he could get another check like that again and sadly he still could.

I was on youtube last night and ran across WWE debuts. I saw Cena's...never seen it b4 because I don't watch SD. Cena was nice and lean and had a good ass match with Angle. WTF happened?

Eric Bischoff, the President of WCW, was the leader of the nWo so that made sense. But the longer it went, the less sense it made.
He was stale before that but he was so over, it took time to show. He found some new life when he started playing guitar and showed his comedic side with Kurt Angle but that hurt his heel turn.
They would fit in fine in a PG setting but not with these writers. Austing got over as "Stone Cold" before they went full on "Attitude" and if you took away profanity, Rock could still cut a good promo.

I'm not going with the Rock one. They were on the same level at that point feuding for the IC title with Rock that entire summer.
But yeah, Foley and Austin put him over like people did them. That's how the business works. Ultimately, no one pushes themselves unless they're the boss or a relative. Zack Ryder got himself over and they decided to teach him a lesson. HHH had Foley and Austin like Sting had Ric Flair.

That's why Booker left. There were a lot of guys on SD that didn't want to go to Raw and he was one. The original plan was for him to wrestle (and go over) Lawler at SummerSlam and when the plan was changed and he got smashed by HHH, in addition to other contractual problems they were having, he decided that his time was up.

He got over and Vince fucked him up by fixing what wasn't broken.
Kurt carried him to a good match. He was very healthy (and juiced to his gills) at that time and was having great matches with everyone.

Also on that youtube it had some good debuts like Jericho which IMO is the greatest debut. My second fave was when DDP unmasked himself as Sara Undertaker's stalker. The crowd was hype as hell. Vince fucked that up so bad.

Two of the best debuts ever.

I remember going crazy when DDP unmasked. DDP vs the Undertaker could have been HUGE but Taker fucked him on that one. Dude didn't even sell the Diamond Cutter worth a damn.

I marked out hard on both debuts. I marked out the most in 2000 when Taker came back during the Rock vs HHH ironman match at Judgement Day. You just don't have those moments anymore.

Stone Cold & Rock were rated r wrestlers and that's what i liked about them. Look at the promos they've cut since the pg era, Austin is a shell of himself and Rock while having great promos at times also had some awkward ones where he tried to tone the language down.

It may not have meant much to you but that SS win over Rock was huge and it was supposed to be a big career move for him, he suffered a knee injury during that match and had to vacate the title a month later. Personally im sick of hearing how business works because there are a lot of bitches in the wwe now, and the difference between them and the stars of yesteryear is that the past stars would eventually do what was right whereas now it's me me me all the time. Steiner aired Flair out on Nitro about the way he and his boys treated Austin during his run, and if you don't believe in Karma look no further than where they're at career wise now

Austin = Worth over 30mil and is living peacefully at his "Broken Skull Ranch".

Flair = Taking bumps off the top rope in his 60s because he mismanaged his money and is now the IRS bitch, did i forget to mention he gave up a 500k a year job with the wwe:smh:

Booker and Lawler did all the heavy lifting and HHH took all the credit, he also had a problem with the new weed policy they enforced which is what made RVD & him such great friends:lol:

02-04 Kurt was just unreal and you could tell he had come into his own as a character and wrestler, it's always good to see a wrestler finally get it because they seem more comfortable for example imo Austin 96-97 > Austin 98-onward.

True. When there were two big national companies, a switch was a major deal but now even TNA guys going to WWE doesn't mean much and TNA is not going to not announce the debut of a big former WWE name.

Stone Cold & Rock were rated r wrestlers and that's what i liked about them. Look at the promos they've cut since the pg era, Austin is a shell of himself and Rock while having great promos at times also had some awkward ones where he tried to tone the language down.

That's because they're old now. Rock never did anything before "Attitude" but Austin was already a star from his "Stunning" run and he was the hottest guy in the business before they went hard because he was a badass shit talker without profanity (except for "ass") or beer.
This PG vs PG13 vs R is bullshit and meaningless. The best angles ever were done in what could be considered a PG era. The Horsemen era in Crockett could be considered PG. It's all on the strength and skill of the booker.

It was a big win as in the face finally beats the heel but it wasn't an elevating win because Rock wasn't on a higher level than him at the time. It wasn't a career defining win like with Foley and Austin.
I love Steiner but he was full of shit on that. There isn't one guy who can legitimately claim Ric Flair held them down or back. The one guy in the last 30 years that did business was Ric Flair. In fact, he was too accomodating. Austin was on his way to the WCW title until Hogan showed up and brought all his friends with him and then Bischoff saw Steve as expendable. Even Mick Foley who wrote in his book how he felt Ric did him wrong had to take it back when he actually spoke to Flair and got Ric's side of the story.
Ric's life is a mess because he has bad habits not because he screwed people over. If that had any basis in reality, Vince McMahon would have failed yrs ago instead of dominating the industry.

For Austin though, the injuries started catching up to him by that point.

I first saw Austin in USWA as Stunning Steve and he would feud with Chris Adams. I was a fan of him in WCW. Loved the Hollywood Blonds. I saw him in Tupelo,Ms in a dark match before the Uncensored ppv. I guess his knee was messed up then. Worst ppv ever btw. I was expecting Warrior to debut but got Renegade.:puke:

See your definition of pg might be different from the wwe version, they get too sensitive with pg and you get the kiddie crap we have now.

I'll give you that but if you don't think Rock was key to HHH's success then i can't agree with you on that. As for you brining up Vince, does the wwe not look eerily similar to the final years of WCW? Now obviously they're in better shape but the fact that they have to bring back legends to sell tix is sad. They have done a shit job in helping create new stars just like WCW and they're rewriting scripts at the last minute just like WCW.

Yep when you injure your neck & knees you're on borrowed time, which is why i never understood why he didn't just retire instead of walking out like a punk.

Man, the less said about that ppv the better. That thing sucked even before the Renegade came out.

The Adams feud was the first time I saw him too. He was raw but you could see how good he was going to be. The moment that made me say "That guy's going to be a star" was when he was splashing Chris Adams from the top rope, over and over. Adam's wife Toni had crawled in and covered him to protect him. Austin fucking dove off and splashed her!! That was before heels were beating up women routinely in ECW. That whole feud, where Steve brought in Adam's ex wife Jeannie (who Steve later married and divorced), was crazy and was the highlight of USWA at the time.

They really try too hard. I think they want to go back to the 80s style of wrestling but Vince doesn't have many writers who were actual fans at that time so they don't know what they're doing.

I'll give you that but if you don't think Rock was key to HHH's success then i can't agree with you on that.

I do think Rock was key but they were building each other up. Rocky Miavia doesn't become anyone either without HHH doing jobs for him.

They do have all the bad signs. I don't have a problem with them bringing back legends (they've always done that even with Bruno) but needing them to draw a rating on USA or a decent buyrate is a problem. The fact that Swagger and Ziggler have gone from main events back to mid card comedy feuds is the biggest sign that they don't know how to build talent.

Yep when you injure your neck & knees you're on borrowed time, which is why i never understood why he didn't just retire instead of walking out like a punk.

He walked out because he had a dispute with the creative direction. He was right in his thoughts but did the wrong thing in his actions. Frankly, the only way to make Vince McMahon respect you is to flip him the bird and leave.

The ppv sucked but it was my first WCW event. I went to the one next year too lol. What was some bullshit was when he lost the belt in 24 secs to Duggan.

I almost cried when that shit happened. I was hoping and thinking "Okay but Austin's going to get it back at the ppv." and the shit never happened. Then Duggan's whole push was over and he got murdered by Vader the next month. People talk about WCW in the end but in those last couple months, it was pretty good and they were elevating new and younger talent. But it was frighteningly bad in 94 when Hogan got there.

Yes it got bad. Another WTF moment was when Hogan and Savage tagged. Hogan was beat up and Savage came off the top rope with an elbow to Hogan and revived him. I almost threw something thru the tv screen I was so pissed.

I was at the ppv where Booker T said Hogan, we coming for u nigga!. The crowd was so loud I didn't even hear it.

Clash of the fucking Champions. I remember that. Here WCW had been the place where wrestling fans could escape "sports entertainment" and they had a straight out of WWF spot in an already horrible main event. The only reason I was watching it was waiting for Vader to come down and they even ruined that by Hogan no-selling the powerbomb. Now why would anybody buy the ppv, SuperBrawl with Hogan vs Vader for the first time, if we know Vader can't beat Hogan with his big move? Dumb shit. I'm getting mad thinking about right now.

The stigma with fans who don't know what their talking about is that the 80's was too cartoony, in fact it had a little campiness to it but it was easily forgivable because of the great storytelling and great matches it produced. The writers they have are the same people who have had their treatments turned down numerous times by Hollywood, so theres that reason for the piss poor writing.

I do think Rock was key but they were building each other up. Rocky Miavia doesn't become anyone either without HHH doing jobs for him.

True but Rock jobbed way more than he needed to against HHH, but even with the jobbing he completely eclipsed him so i guess it evened out:lol:

I don't have a problem either bringing back legends because that's completely normal, I do have a problem with them using legends as a last ditch effort to get cheers for a tired character or to draw a rating.

I know they wanted him to lose to Lesnar without any build, but imo that's when he should have turned in his resignation because the writing was on the wall. 2002 was a hard year to watch although compared to the product now it looks like gold in retrospect, the only saving that year was smackdown and "Big Evil Undertaker"

I loved Vader. In person his stomach was so big.

You ever been to live events? I been to 3 WCW ppvs and a couple of Raw and SDs and St Valentine's day Massacre and a few USWAs.

 It was much more cartoony in the early 90s when they had a guy for every gimmick: a garbage man, a clown, a ninja, a pirate, a hockey goon, a plumber, a couple of good ol country boys (non-hillbilly and hillbilly) and an aristocrat.

True but Rock jobbed way more than he needed to against HHH, but even with the jobbing he completely eclipsed him so i guess it evened out:lol:

He did but he didn't job more than he needed to, who the fuck was he? HHH jobbed to him in the beginning and he gave it back a few times. That's one feud that is probably even when all the matches are totalled up. When Rock was getting the push, HHH did the jobs. When it was Hunter's turn, Rock did the jobs. Both of them were fortunate that all those guys ahead of them had gone to WCW (Nash, Hall, Bret, Perfect).

I don't have a problem either bringing back legends because that's completely normal, I do have a problem with them using legends as a last ditch effort to get cheers for a tired character or to draw a rating.

If you bring them back to help elevate someone new, that's good. But let it be someone new, not just Cena and HHH or even Punk at this point.

He did turn in his resignation, he left. It's not like he had weeks of advance notice. He showed up for Raw and was told "You're jobbing to Brock tonight clean." Again, he was right but handled it wrong but so were they. You don't waste an opportunity like that and you don't treat a guy who destroyed his body for you like that.

Who are you asking????:lol::lol: I was just at the EVOLVE iPPV Friday night and had a ball. They have some good stuff going on there. Sami Callihan is a star. There were so few people there, you might see in in the front row on the side where the wrestlers come out. I'm the Black guy:D.
My first show was the tv taping where the Briscos, Jack and Jerry, attacked Rick Steamboat and Jay Youngblood and ripped up Jay's headdress. I've been to a few ppvs for WCW (one Starrcade, Flair vs Vader), WWE/F (my first Mania was last year), TNA, ROH, and a lot of indies. If it was in Charlotte or close, I most likely went.

And there was also this one from Steiner

"Just when u didnt think it could get any worse in Tna,it has and guys are pissed bcuz hogan has brought In his no talent daughter,FF'n unbelievable, When i said guys were pissed thats putting it mildly...."

This is what happens when a guy has enough money and doesn't give a fuck about playing politics.

..wait brooke about to try to be a Knockout..? hopefully gail kim will mop the ring w/ her

That was the first I had heard anything about her being involved other than sitting in the front row.

Ringside but not first row. Tough, physical match. Vader didn't give Flair an inch. I think not having the scheduled Rick Rude vs Davey Boy Smith match hurt the overall quality of the ppv but the main event was all anyone was talking about after it was over.
On that card, Steve Austin shocked EVERYBODY in the building by beating Dustin Rhodes 2 straight falls in a 2 out of 3 falls match for the US title. I thought that was the beginning of his run to the World title. I was wrong.

I was watching it on ppv and was like damn Austin beat Dustin 2 straight. I cant remember most of the the card but I remember the long as limo ride and shit between Flair and Gene.

The live audience was eating up every second of it. It's like you know Flair's going to win but Vader had been SO dominant and had won matches you "knew" he was going to lose before.

Austin's win in 2 straight was "stunning" but the real surprise was Rude beating the Bossman with a sunset flip. Who ever loses on a sunset flip?

What was Bossman's name this time. he had a shitload of names just like Brutus.

The Boss but WWF let them know that was too close to Big Bossman so he changed it to the Guardian Angel (that sucked) and he ended up back as Big Bubba Rogers before just going by his real name.

Now if you'll excuse me im going to go watch some old wcw shows because this nostalgia is getting to me.
