I don't watch RAW but a few questions I have ...

1. Since it will be on Netflix does that mean it will return to a TV 14 rating?

2. Will there still be commercials considering its on a streaming platform and not cable TV? And if there are commercials they should structure them to run after a full match is completed instead of during a match.

3. If it indeed has no commercials will the show still be 3 hours.
1) WWE still wants to appeal to a wider audience so I think they remain PG. I don't see them going back to TV 14 anytime soon.
2) I don't really watch Netflix, but my understanding is that there are currently no ads/commercials on Netflix so I do not expect there to be any when RAW starts on Netflix. Netflix makes all their money from subscriptions. That's why they were so hellbent on stopping password sharing. Maybe in the future, Netflix comes out with a cheaper plan that includes ads/commercials.
3) If you eliminate commercials, actual RAW programming is less than 2.5 hours so that will probably be the length of the show commercial-free.

Take out the filler and commercials they could make Raw 2 hours. If they wanted to.

I cut Hulu and Disney+ (Spectrum offered a free basic version of Disney+ with my subscription.)

We have Netflix but may cut it. Hardly use it as is...

Have Peacock for WWE

Have Prime Video because we enjoy free prime shipping.

Netflix was the GOAT when it was still 7.99 but those increases sucked.

I may pick up Netflix again next year, but yeah these streaming service a la carte prices cost damn near as much as cable when added up.

Yeah, thankfully I get Max for free through AT&T and get credits from my AMEX platinum card for Peacock, Paramount+ and Hulu/ESPN+/Disney+ or all these streaming services would really add up.
I got rid of DirecTV last year after having it for over 15 years due to the increased costs.
Some of these streaming services are gonna have to consolidate in order to stick around.
There's rumors that Max and Paramount+ may merge into one service if WBD and Paramount merge.
Peacock has been losing money hand over fist and may not be around in a couple of years.
Likewise, Disney+ has struggled to make any money.

Did they actually kill it? People use my account I haven't heard about them not being able to unless they just stopped using it lol.
They killed it months ago. I used my sister's account. One day they prompt me with this isn't your usual location and asked if I was traveling. I have a fire stick but never tried it. I'm usually not free on Mondays so this is a none issue for me. I've been following Raw & Smackdown from thier youtube channel for the last 10 years or so.

So an ad free RAW...if anyone that's been to a wrestling show knows it isn't a straight 2-3 hour show. It's a lot of setup/clean up during those commercial breaks. Does this mean these commercial breaks are now going to be replaced with backstage promos? This is the last thing that WWE needs is MORE promos. I get the direction they're trying to go, I just don't think it works for what people are used to

Disagree. Their top social media videos with the most views and engagement have either been promos or quick appearances, not in ring wrestling.

Most of WWE's success this last year and a half has been their storytelling. More backstage promos further elevating and pushing stories give folks time to flesh out their characters. If anything, it gives wrestlers you rarely see an additional chance to get on camera.

They should just make the matches longer. Problem solved ..... nevermind. I forgot this is WWE. More promos yay!

At a live show, a lot of times the first wrestler that comes out for a match is just standing in the ring in the dark during the commercial break.
With an ad-free show, you could cut that part out and get right to the match.
If anything, this would allow for more matches on the card.

Read my comment above.
Besides this is WWE, not NJPW or AEW with 30-minute Meltzer wet dream "bangers".
WWE's formula clearly works for them, so why change it?
If true! Yikes!

Just like the "sources" who swore Punk was not going back to WWE. HHH working the dirt sheets again. LOL

If I'm WWE, I'd let Roman break Hogan's record. Fuck it.

Cody's story can wait and honestly, Roman Reigns isn't key to his story, the WWE Championship is.

I would have Roman face Drew at Mania, defeat Drew (on his rumored way out) and drop the title to Punk at Survivor Series later this year (after breaking Hogan's record).

Have Cody vs Punk at Mania next year, so Cody can finish his story against Punk.

This opens up Rock vs Roman next year too, I doubt it's happening this year.

There was a reason why I didn't mention the first wrestler that gets to the ring. THAT is easily corrected, but the setup for lets say a street fight match. All the shyt that gets put around a ring for that match are you just videoing the crew setting that up? For a ladder match stuff isn't just hanging there all day to be used during that match. The cage for a cage match just doesn't drop. There is still setup that needs to be done. Clean/set up for next matches is what I was talking about, you can no longer go to commercial break if there aren't any commercials. So then you cut to backstage promos. Which is going to be more than usual so the home audience isn't seeing that.

Maybe they do it like SirrusXM? Commercial free radio, but the talk shows are FULL of commercials. Netflix doesn't have commercials, but RAW does. Commericals for upcoming events, merch and the sponsors of said upcoming events...get ready for A LOT of Snickers commercials.

I imagine it will be similar to the PLEs on Peacock.
You will likely have video packages and yes, backstage promos, to fill in the gaps between matches.
Not a big deal for me.
A lot of people are making this a bigger deal than it is and just looking for stuff to complain about with this announcement.
And the ones complaining the loudest are the ones that "don't watch WWE" ironically enough.

WWE is pushing a lot of this 40 years of hulk hogan they COULD bring hogan out and get Superman punched when Roman breaks his record. But I really don't want hogan on my TV even if he is getting his ass kicked.

I think you keep Cody and Punk FAR away from each other until that Mania match you mentioned. They can cut promos on each other, but you tease that match until Mania. The meat on the bone for Roman and Cody is stale. Having to reinvigorate the audience for it again would just take too long and seems like a logistic nightmare.

Rock vs Roman...nobody wants to see that shyt! A gassed Dwayne? His big ass was breathing heavy from that brief Jinder squash. As much as I dislike him, I will admit he is still a draw, but that match is going to be garbage. Undertaker, Hogan, Goldberg, Ric Flair. If he's not careful he's gonna be up there with those shytty matches that they all had.

And that is all I was doing is pointing out what is coming up...granted I was doing it in a SUPER snarky way, I'll admit. And I will also admit that 10 years ago I would have loathed the idea of more backstage Vince inspired promos. The promos the maybe last 3 years have been LIGHT YEARS better. RAW is background noise while I work anyway unless it's a promo that I wanted to see or a match that caught my attention.

Speaking of backstage promos, I wondered what brotha @EPDC thought of New Day possibly dropping the lovable gimmick from this Monday? More than likely they'll pick it back up once the feud is over with Imperium.

Reigns is the final boss that nobody has pinned in three years. Cody being the guy to beat Roman would make him a made man. They should've crowned Cody last year but they fumbled it.

Wouldn't be the same. Punk isn't the same Punk he was eight years ago. Nowadays you got broken down injury prone Punk. Cody beating Punk would just be a constellation prize.

I'm not even trying to shit on them, but they have to be losing hand over fist here. Damn, under 2000 tickets sold?

I don't know about this but if this so called true, no worries!!...I remember early last year around this time they said the same thing but though out the year the attendance went up!!..No worries, AEW will be fine!!...

They didn't fumble anything. Cody is as popular (if not more so) now than he was then.
This isn't mark fanboy booking where you give some fans what they want right away with no thought of what comes after that.
They're playing the long game and if a few fans are impatient and lose interest, oh well.
Lolz I'd probably rather watch commercials than this match
Every time I've seen this guy recently on AEW, he just looks like a broken down old man.
That Japanese "strong style" of wrestling ages guys beyond their years.
Maybe he was a badass back in the day, but right now I don't see it.
But hey, as long as it pops the Japanese fanboys for one night I guess it's all good.

WrestleTix is a legit source and not a dirtsheet rag with no credibility.
And what numbers have you seen where attendance for AEW live events have gone up in the past year?
At best, the the attendance figures have been flat with attendance being down in most markets.
