The problem with AEW's low attendance is mainly tied to their piss poor advertising/marketing. They don't advertise in the market they're having a show in until the week of the show. I know here in Saint Louis you don't hear or see (TV/radio/newspaper) anything about a AEW show until three days out. Hell, this past Saturday "Collision" show that I went to I didn't see or hear anything about in the local media. It didn't sell out. Contrast that with WWE. When a WWE show comes to town you hear about it a month in advance. It's all over the radio and tv here. It sells out. Whoever runs AEW's advertising/marketing department should be fired. You can't just depend on Dynamite to advertise an upcoming show. You have to advertise locally on a consistent basis. Until they get that fixed, they're gonna continue to have these low attendance issues.
AEW could definitely do a better job at advertising, but the fact remains that there are no big mainstream stars on the roster right now and a lot of the talent AEW fans do like are not around right now.
MJF = out of action
Kenny Omega = out of action
Adam Cole = out of action
And the list goes on and on.
TK seems to think that everyone will just know when AEW comes to their town through Twitter and will immediately buy tickets.
Wrestling tickets ain't cheap and add to that having to drive, pay for parking, pay for food/drinks, pay for merch, etc. and it really adds up.
AEW has a die-hard fanbase but they can only spend but so much.
Damn, just tuned into Dynamite... Lighting looks dark as hell in the audience except for the first few rows.
Audience sounds quiet as fuck too, like pandemic era wresting shows
They "sold" around 2k tickets for tonight's show, but who knows how many of those people actually showed up.
"Sold" includes comp tickets and giveaways from radio, social media, etc.
When the show started tonight you could see the tight close-ups from the cameras and the dark lighting.
The lack of fans on the hard camera side is pretty common now in AEW.
