I don't watch RAW but a few questions I have ...

1. Since it will be on Netflix does that mean it will return to a TV 14 rating?

2. Will there still be commercials considering its on a streaming platform and not cable TV? And if there are commercials they should structure them to run after a full match is completed instead of during a match.

3. If it indeed has no commercials will the show still be 3 hours.

They're gonna get a lot of subscribers since they killed password sharing.

I think they'll have mixed results in the beginning. They'll get a lot of new subscribers but I'm also hearing people say they won't pay for Netflix to watch RAW. We'll see how it all shakes out though.

I was one of those people who used someone's password.

I'm actually canceling my Netflix subscription at the end of this month. I don't use it enough to justify paying $22 dollars a month for it. Hell, I watch YouTube more than I do Netflix.

  1. I somewhat hope and think so. With Smackdown on Cable and NXT on Broadcast TV, this is WWE's "grown up" show. They'll probably have more liberties like cursing, etc....but hope they don't go overboard with it.
  2. Please, commercial free matches would be ideal. A commercial free show would be even better, but commercial free matches would be great.
  3. I can see them continuing with the three hour format and cutting the first hour as an additional taped show (for another streamer), like that "Velocity" show they tinkered with a few months ago. Similar to how they do/did Main Event prior to Raw or SmackDown (I dunno).

I really hope this isn't true. The Rainmaker starting in NXT is crazy!

NXT is perfect for him to start off in. WWE fans don't know who the hell he is. Introducing him in NXT first gives WWE and that audience a chance to become familiar with him. Putting him on Raw/Smackdown immediately would do him no favors.

Nakamura, Finn Balor, Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens started in NXT and I think that worked out well for them.

Welp. Interesting to see where they go next. He's one of the ones where I tune him out when he talks. And him with Graves makes him stand out like a sore thumb because he can't balance out what Graves does.

THANK GOD. I can't stand him on commentary. He always sounds like he's out of breath when he's talking. Good riddance.
Phenomenal segment....

Yes, that segment was EXCELLENT. One of the best I've seen in a long time.
Now that Rollins is injured, I could see WWE pivoting to a Punk vs. Cody matchup.
Damn, was hoping for Prime Video instead...
Yeah, I was hoping for Prime Video too. We have Netflix in our house but only my wife watches it. If it were up to me, it would be cancelled.
But at the end of the day, Netflix apparently made the best offer to WWE and that won out.
Netflix will for sure gain new subscribers now, but I'm curious to see how much the RAW viewership will drop off (if at all).
Reactions to WWE Raw moving to Netflix seem to be mixed online.
I personally would have preferred Amazon Prime since I don't watch Netflix but we're already paying for Netflix so no big deal.
However, I can see how paying over $20/month for Netflix just to watch RAW would be hard to swallow for a lot of folks.
It will be interesting to see what percentage of current RAW viewers migrate over to Netflix.

I'm honestly surprised he would go to WWE right now. I'll believe it when I see it.
Seems like AEW's audience would embrace him a lot more than WWE.
If I were his agent I would tell him to go to AEW since TK would probably give him a blank check and put every belt they have on him.
Who knows, maybe Okada sees some of the dysfunction in AEW and is reluctant to sign there since word is he's leaving Japan because of dysfunction over there.

Yeah, I know folks stuck in the wrestling bubble think everyone on the planet should know who Okada is but that's just not the case.
If he does go to WWE, like you mentioned, NXT would be the perfect place for him to start.
He would get introduced to a whole new audience, familiarize himself with the "WWE style" and become the top guy in NXT.
Also remember, NXT will be on free OTA TV soon so a whole new audience of viewers will be able to watch him.

If they can get this kind of deal that would be great.

Now that the RAW deal is done, I think it's inevitable that WBD (or whatever entity comes out of a possible merger with Paramount) gets a streaming deal done with AEW.
Damn....I didn't even think of the amount of Cable subscribers vs Netflix subscribers.....

Those numbers are flawed. They're comparing the number of GLOBAL Netflix subscribers to the number of US cable subscribers.
A better comparison would be the number of US Netflix subscribers to the number of US cable subscribers.

I get it, but that's the thing, WWE is World Wrestling Entertainment.

Netflix number will more than likely grow a little, plus the added viewership of overseas numbers....

WWE making this move is looking at globally taking over, not just US streams.

For now, RAW will only be available on Netflix in North America and the UK.

Did they actually kill it? People use my account I haven't heard about them not being able to unless they just stopped using it lol.

I get why NXT first though. I think if he goes straight to main roster it's gonna feel forced. I'm not familiar with him myself and I question if the WWE audience is. I'm sure some are but we know more casuals watch WWE than AEW or NJPW....I think in the past WWE has had instances like this where they debut a guy and it falls flat with fans because they don't get the impact he has.

But if it was me I'd take the risk. Debuting him on the main roster gives that aura that this is big time acquisition. I get both sides though.
