I think it's pretty clear they're setting up to sell the company.

at this point its the only thing that makes sense
but the word has always been that Vince would never let someone else run the show

dont know bout ya'll but I dont think i can watch the show (i been quit raw and its tough to watch all this programming with NBA playoffs)
I wonder if other fans feel the same and if the ratings will suffer

i wonder also what will be the catalyst to get independent contractors to pool their power
could you imagine other sports entertaining companies like NBA, MLB etc treating their workforce they way?

this will never happen but what happens if no one shows up to work on Friday or Monday? Does WWE show repeats? What happens if talent goes on strike? WWE has shown what they truly think of their employees...I mean independent contractors

I've pretty much stopped watching all wrestling at this point, AEW included.
WWE will always have their fans though that will watch no matter what.
I think Vince now realizes he ain't gonna be around forever (Have you seen him recently? He looks like death. LOL) and he's coming up with a succession plan for his kids.
I'm sure part of the condition of any sale, is that his kids (and possibly HHH) have to have some say in the company.

Wrestlers can't even join together to form a union. LOL. No way they would ever go on strike. Too many backstabbers in the locker room.

if they dont act now
I guess they never will
the business fosters an every man for himself mentality. But I would think today is a wake up call. At face value WWE got rid of alot ppl while they are making money hand over fist. I hope there is more to this than WWE trimming imaginary fat.

A lot of people feel the same way. Raw has been hitting historic lows in the ratings.

One of the biggest gripes in the wresting community among the fans is the constant rematches. Every feud has been overdone. Every episode is a carbon copy of the previous week's episode, and then with 50/50 booking, you can pretty much guess who's gonna win by the week.

These are people that they could've used even as transitional feuds to at least put out some different matches. The heavyweight title picture on Raw is literally just Bobby and Drew, that means they're probably going to feud for like another two months even though they've been going since like March/April. At least they had Braun to mix it up, now he's gone. Orton was more interested in doing something with Riddle, and Bray is not on TV.

This whole shit is fucked.

exactly
who are natty and tamina are going wrestle now?
no more gauntlet matches or random battle royals or tournaments
no more 24/7 shenanigans

how do you feel 3 hours of tv every monday
recaps, rematches and promos

Impact and ROH should merge and sign up talent. Not everyone should go to AEW and there needs to be more than two top promotions.

The best era was the Attitude Era when WCW, WWF and ECW went at it.

An alternate take I saw was that WWE was just trimming some big contracts to get ready to head back out on the road. Nick Kahn has already said Vince does not plan to sell.

I am skeptical
they been making money hand over fist
they are supposed to tour in a limited capacity
and alot of the ppl not featured got to work tours
and the cuts seem very excessive and nonsensical based on the placement in the company of some of the talent

it seems like left hand (business side) not giving a fuck a bout right hand (product). For instance wwe cut aliester after of reestablishing him and him impacting the main event on fox. not only does that shit on your talent but it shits on your fans who invest in long term story telling

And they can't put Naomi and Liv in a tag team, and they're not getting put in the singles picture, so they're probably next.

They just broke up Elias and Ryker, so that's another tag team gone.

Big E was just about to do some shit with Aleister, now he's probably going back to Apollo for like the 10th time.

What if (God forbid) Bobby or Drew gets hurt? Title picture done.

People were already spectating that the next two months was going to be/continue to be trash until they got back on the road, now it's more evident that it is.

This shit about to be so fuckin' stupid.

Perhaps, but I don't see the WWE going back on the road full time anytime soon. Notice they are calling it a "tour" just like a music group or the circus.
I think in this pandemic they've seen how much more money they can make by not being on the road all the time.
This might be their business model going forward.
Put on weekly shows from a studio (Thunderdome or wherever) and then hit the road every now and then.

shit Liv got let go too
tag teams on the main brands with 5 hours of show
Natty & Tamina
Nia & Bazler
Mandy & Dana
and ???

I've never seen so many feature talents cut at once! Even them Black Monday cuts after Wrestlemania wasn't like this
Its usually 1...maybe 2 that you are like "DAMN!". I can't recall the last time I saw the WWE actively let this much talent go.

Shocked to hear some of those names, especially Braun and Aleister Black.
I guess they aired those vignettes with Aleister for nothing.
They've done some shitty booking with Braun, but he still has potential to be a big star.
AEW shouldn't touch Lana, she's worthless as a performer and actor.
Buddy Murphy has potential. I could see AEW signing him.
Ruby Riott is a good worker and has a unique look. She could get over somewhere else.

I think WWE is setting up for an eventual sale of the company.
They're shedding as many contracts as possible and signing these deals like the Peacock deal to make themselves as attractive as possible to potential buyers. They're also about to start touring again so that's going to eat into their profits. Also, Vince lost all that money from XFL (again).
I think it's just a matter of time before they're sold off.
You are thinking for stake in the company or for the whole company?

Anyone else think its kind of fucked up you basically get fired from you job and millions of people find out about it? Shit just seems fucked up.

Didnt' they just cut the check for Ricochet? Ali I can see being let go. Hell he strikes me as someone who would be ASKED to be let go.

doesnt matter if you an independent contractor. I beleive you can get let got at any time with 90 days pay (but of course thats one sided)
Braun signed a new deal not too long

that shit is tough especially if its your dream job
on the WWE docuseries WWE released a few months back alot of it focused on his shared love of wrestling with his grandma and how he tried/failed to get into so many times before finally making it

Santana & Ruby Riot are a must for AEW women division. Lana should do something outside of wrestling as a influencer. Buddy Murphy would be great in NJPW. Tommy End could be big money for AEW. Braun is a main eventer and is going to get many offers. Braun will probably end up in AEW.

I'm saying though that I think its safe to assume that these cuts were either budget related, people who wanted to get released, or people they felt were expendable......now unless Ricochet was getting paid like Braun....I don't think he fits any of the above.

RIGHT....and a dream job......

Nah I get that.....but the fact that they had the chance to let him walk........and they re-sign would seem like they have something in plans for him I would think.

one of biggest gripes is long term character development and storytelling. We've suspected for years but this confirms damn near everything is week to week

you dont have ol girls iconic make a new tag team with Carmella at wrestlemania only to cut her the next day

right hand (business) doesn't give a fuck about left hand (creative). And they just flipped their talent and us the double bird.

But see to me if you teaming up with Carmella to do ANYTHING that signifies you can be a cut casualty.

But I will say that on Aleister Black....prime a example of what in the fuck...you build him up to let him go.....he strikes me as a guy who would want a release but I mean if you knew that why would you build him up and waste production costs on him? Just silly.

I think you giving them too much credit
most of em didn't want out
this is them trimming imaginary fat even they making hand over fist. They been cutting ppl behind the scenes.

and touring shit doesn't make sense
no one is forcing them tour and dictate their schedule. If doesn't make fiscal sense only do Smackdown and Raw.

but once they aren't hurting financially, just had one of their most successful years during a pandemic and signed a billionaire deal with peacock.
