Sami Zayn is definitely "more than just a guy" but he does not have long-term main event status.
He got over being associated with the Bloodline. Ever since he stopped interacting with the Bloodline, he's cooled down.
Fans aren't as into him as they were back then. It was the right move not to put the championship on him.
Folks need to learn that being the flavor-of-the-month fan favorite does not equal to being world champion.

Mic skills matter in this country. Maybe they don't matter in Japan, but it matters here.
There's a reason all these Japanese girls you love don't get over here in the states.
Doesn't matter if it's Vince, HHH or "Booker of the Year" Tony Khan booking them it's always the same result. They hit a ceiling.
I've said it a million times, it takes more than just having good matches to really get over in this country.
You have to connect with the audience and get the audience invested enough in your character to want to see your matches.
I don't know man....I never got it with Sammy until the Bloodline angle but I thought he made that angle not the other way around. To me WWE is still relying on him to main event and that's as a tag team.

I agree with your second statement......I think in america you gotta have mic skills. Might can overcome that shit in Japan but in America? That's a tough sell.

I watched Blood and Guts last night and maybe it's because I'm desensitized to it but I just found all the "shock" violence in the match to just be boring.

The match dragged on and I lost any interest I may have had. There was no story to the match, just spots for spots sake. If AEW didn't lean so much on their bloody battles, perhaps last night would have come off different, but we see blood so often on their shows, this shit isn't even special anymore.

I don't understand why this wasn't a PPV instead of a free cable event too.

How many main events has Sammy been in since he left the Bloodline?
He doesn't get the same level of pops he did when he was in the Bloodline angle.
That title match he had against Roman in his hometown is the biggest match he'll ever have. That was his peak.
He definitely added to the Bloodline angle but he's cooled off since.

I had it on in the background while I was building my son's PC and it just looked like the same old same old "hardcore/lights out/no DQ/no rules" type matches they have all the time in AEW. Just this time with two rings and a cage added to the mix.

I find it weird that Moxley used some object (again like always) on Kenny Omega, but Omega never bled. That's a couple of matches now where that's happened. Does Omega not know how to do a blade job?

I will give AEW props for the production and they way they shot the match, particularly in the beginning when it was just one-on-one with Kenny Omega and Claudio. They used different camera angles and shots I have never seen before and I thought it looked nice.

There is no consistency with how these guys bleed and the dangers of this type of match. I don't even remember if Kenny bled but there was so much blood yesterday, whether he did or not didn't even matter, because it all was just for show, and in a corny way. Like none of the blood added to the story. There was no "he's lost so much blood he may pass out" moments in the match.

And what was the purpose of this?

Literally killing the gimmick of the match while you're still in the ring. Lolz

Ok so I haven't watched many Raw's since the angle ended but coincidentally I watched this past Raw I think that was in Atlanta? That crowd was HYPED. Not sure if Atlanta's just one of those great crowd towns(very well could be with the wrestling history) but he and KO main evented that night and probably got the biggest pop of the night aside from Cody....Gunter got a nice one as well especially for a heel.

If he's cooled off i'll say its because of him being on a tag team. They didn't stick with his momentum but I also understand it would've been kind of tough at that time he was red hot so the put the tag titles on him.

I don't know man I don't know if he has a long title reign in him but he for sure has at least a small run in him.

That's wild and stupid at the same time lol.

Why do you keep posting this basement mark all the time? He's been called out on his bullshit so many times.
His shtick is always the same and to shit on anything WWE while praising everyone else.
His dumbass said that Shotzi shaved her head as an order from Vince meanwhile it was because her sister has cancer.
He literally knows nothing about the business and just makes shit up.

He's a fucking racist too. Fuck that guy

:lol:WWE marks right on cue. First you and then @EPDC who pretends not to respond to my posts but then piggybacks off YOUR response to my posts. All the same. Just like you ignore my New Japan and Stardom posts, IGNORE THIS TOO! When I post JD keep it moving just like I'll keep it moving when AEW botches, Jobber Nation and Mr. Tennis Racket get posted.

 why are you sharing a racist piece of shit dirtbag tweets here?

If it weren't for the video he released earlier this week about coming back to NWA, I could definitely see him as a SummerSlam or post SS Raw surprise.

Not sure where he would fit in, but I could see him in the upper midcard competing against the LA Knights and Austin Theory's of the world. Hell, a feud between him and Knight may be pretty fun.

The better question is why are you getting triggered over it? This dude does shtick just like Jim Cornette where he purposely says shock value things to get people worked and WWE marks like yourself take the bait everytime. They say the shit they say because people tune in to hear it. Do I think JD or Cornette are racists? NO!

Again, I'm not triggered by it.

If I were triggered or took the bait, then I'd be posting his tweets in here calling him out.

I'm wondering why you're posting a guy who has spouted racist shit on YouTube? Like, why post him here?

Come on man.....I get you're a AEW fan and you bring balance to this thread but don't justify that trash as schtick. He's a piece of shit.

The same reason why someone would post Howard Stern on here. It's shtick and not be taken seriously. I've heard worst stuff said from members on this very site in relation to gays and transgenders yet people want to have selective outrage.

Bro you're entitled to that opinion. You can feel however you want to feel about that dude. I personally don't take it that serious.
Aye i'm not knocking that. With a lot of these wrestling podcasters you can't take some of it serious or you won't be listening to a lot of it especially from these cac's.....

I'm just saying man give it the pass simply for schtick is wild. I didn't even know the racist part of dude he left a bad taste in my mouth when he fucked up and blamed Vince for a girl cutting her hair off when she did it for her sister who's battling cancer.....and instead of admitting he fucked up and holding himself accountable he attacked those who held him accountable. IT is what it is not trying to derail the convo that dude just scum.

Dudes a piece of shit, but @Mastermind2002 gives him a pass because he's a pro AEW mark and anti WWE and that's his "schtick"

He's like an "Angry Joe" of wrestling wannabe.

Yeah man we don't stand for that bullshit. I had to turn that Joe Cronin bullshit off. I can't stand these outspoken cac's who think they can say what they want. There's still a line to cross and just because you put a token brother on doesn't validate you.

At least Cornette's actually been in the wrestling business (and successful at it) and knows what he's talking about.
What credentials does this guy have that gives him any credibility?

The same can be said for movie critics. It used to be Gene Siskel and Robert Ebert NOW there are movie critics all over youtube. Why? Because people realized you don't need to be an expert in cinema to know whether or not a movie is bad. In professional wrestling those same metrics apply. A lot of wrestling podcasters just like me sitting at home don't need Cornette, Meltzer, Bischoff or whomever to tell us whether or not a wrestling match is good or bad. We can see and determine that with our own eyes. We DON'T NEED so-called credentials just like a movie watcher doesn't need credentials. Guys like Cornette, Meltzer, Bischoff etc only have value in regard to being historians of what wrestling use to be. Beyond that meh.

Ain't no selective outrage typically black people are going to be outraged by racist cac's....

I'm talking about black people being outraged by racist behavior from whites but allow homophobic and transphobic behavior from black people go unchecked. That's what I mean by selective outrage. If it's bad on one end it's bad on the other.

Just like people gave Iron Sheik a pass when he went on the Howard Stern show and used an offensive slur in relation to gays. But that's his "SCHTICK" right.

All you’re doing is posting “whataboutisms”….

We’re discussing that JDCAC while you’re caping for him talking about “what about Stern, what about Cornette, what about Sheik?”….

Stop trying to move the goal posts trying to defend your boy by bringing up others.

You’re defending a racist CAC like Stephen from Django.

That shit is telling. Then again, you’re the same guy that said you wouldn’t have a problem with your daughter being a burlesque dancer

I'm trying to follow you here. Is it not natural for black people to be outraged by racism as opposed to homosexuality? I'm not seeing the connection here.
