I’d say 6 months at the most. Iyo is super talented in the ring but her mic skills are non existent and she doesn’t have the charisma that Asuka does.

Vince just doesn't know how to book Joshi talent or Japanese talent in general for that matter. A good booker is able to book to the strengths of the talent and minimize the weaknesses. Mic skills shouldn't matter. You can tell a story in many different ways than standing in front of crowd cutting a promo. Asuka was a badass in NXT (Triple H) then came to the main roster and became a goofball dancing around like an idiot. That's not charisma. Book and present these women properly.

And the thing is the cheat sheet is already out there. All you need to do is look at how Rossy Ogawa books Syuri, Giulia, AZM, Tam Nakano, Utami Hayashishita, etc in Stardom. Even Io Shirai (Iyo Sky) was booked ten times better than what she's doing in WWE.

Sami Zayn is definitely "more than just a guy" but he does not have long-term main event status.
He got over being associated with the Bloodline. Ever since he stopped interacting with the Bloodline, he's cooled down.
Fans aren't as into him as they were back then. It was the right move not to put the championship on him.
Folks need to learn that being the flavor-of-the-month fan favorite does not equal to being world champion.

Mic skills matter in this country. Maybe they don't matter in Japan, but it matters here.
There's a reason all these Japanese girls you love don't get over here in the states.
Doesn't matter if it's Vince, HHH or "Booker of the Year" Tony Khan booking them it's always the same result. They hit a ceiling.
I've said it a million times, it takes more than just having good matches to really get over in this country.
You have to connect with the audience and get the audience invested enough in your character to want to see your matches.

Lolz at the thought of “Mic skills shouldn’t matter”…. Ricochet should be a main event player with his in ring skills, yet his mic skills are horrible AND he speaks English.

Japanese talent, men and women, who don’t speak the language are just not going to connect with crowds here in the states, without a mouthpiece.

I don’t care how good you are in the ring, if you have no charisma nor mic skills, you’re not going to get too far. In general, American wrestling audiences and crowds are just different than those in Japan.

Not saying one is better than the other, but what gets you over in Japan isn’t going to translate here in the States.

Huh? A lot of Joshi talent are OVER in the States. What are you talking about? Mic skills only matter in WWE. Every promotion outside the WWE have given Joshi talent a good to great reception. Primarily because they already follow these women in Japan so when they come to the States they know who they are.

What ceiling? Yuka comes over she STILL gets pops. Riho comes out she STILL gets pops, Shida, etc.

And I've said it a million times that that narrative only applies to WWE. With that logic Muta, Liger, Bull Nakano, Akira Hokuto, would've never gotten over in States BUT THEY DID WITHOUT SAYING A WORD.

Sorry, but the average wrestling fan can't name even THREE of these Japanese girls.
Getting pops from the same relatively small wrestling audience that eats up everything they do is not "being over".
The people you named at the end achieved success here in the States, but even they hit a ceiling.
None of them were ever main eventers at Starrcade, Halloween Havoc, etc or world champion here in the States.

Man... There is a difference between being "over" with a specific audience and being "over" with general audiences.

If I showed a lineup with all them Japanese old school cats to an average wrestling audience, they would probably think it was the cast of some weird Netflix Asian show.

Even those Joshi wrestlers. Average people would look at them like the lineup of a Yellow Fever Pornhub category.

Yeah, to those who are fans of Japanese wrestling, these people are "over."

To everyone else? Lolz

You mean the average WWE wrestling fan can't name three of these Japanese women. In the wrestling world you have WWE fans who live in that bubble and then you have THE REST OF THE WRESTLING WORLD who DO know who these Japanese women are. Fans who watch AEW, Impact, ROH, New Japan, Stardom, NOAH etc, generally ALL watch the same shit. They're not just stuck to watching one promotion.

Getting pops from the same relatively small wrestling audience that eats up everything they do is not "being over".

Again with this dated WWE mindset. The rest of the wrestling world outside of the WWE isn't a "relatively small wrestling audience" but this is typical WWE mindset speak. To the WWE mark if you're not over in front of the WWE audience then you're not over. I call bullshit on that.

The people you named at the end achieved success here in the States, but even they hit a ceiling.

Because they weren't full timers and only did tours in the States. As a booker you're not gonna put a belt on someone unless you know they're gonna be around for awhile so any so-called ceiling they hit wasn't due to their talent but rather their availability. Despite that they STILL got over!
