you have heard it because it's true. the eastern conference is the weaker conference from top to bottom, which is what I mean. if you took each playoff teams and stacked them next to each other, in the west you have 6 teams that when playing at their highest level are capable of winning the NBA title. in the east you only have 3 teams. over the past decade each year in the east traditionally you only have 1 team that is a real title contender. sometimes that team win (i.e. the pistons , celtics and heat), however that doesn't change that top to bottom the west is a better conference. what that does mean though is that eastern conference teams have a much easier road to the finals. cleveland is playing scrub ass teams and running them... this doesn't guarantee future success when they run into teams that belong on the court with them. This season i believe particularly that will hurt them.

You're right on one thing, the western conference top to bottom is better than the east. In the playoffs, though, I think it has kind of been even until the past three or four years or so. Shoot recently we've had teams in the eastern conference rated as high as sixth with a losing record I think (or at .500)

As far as the Cavs go, they have just been consistent all season regardless of who they've played...

there are several different +/- statistics, including weighted and adjusted.

the most basic +/- only measures point differential when individual players are on the court.

a far superior +/- is weighted towards team performance when individual players are on the court.

lol i'm not a lebron hater though. Lebron is actually my favorite player in the whole game. he's a savant and a all-time talent, the way he approaches the game is beautiful to watch and as somebody who enjoys greatness on the court i not only respect him the utmost but root for him (granted he's not playing MY team) now as that type of thinking fan i can honestly say that it's not hate when I again say : the cavs will not win the title this year. I don't believe top to bottom their team is good enough to win point blank period. their front line is nowhere near good enough to contend with the lakers front line. Lamar Odom will eat eat and eat some more all series just like how he did against them in the regular season. coupled with the fact that they aren't tough enough to take the lakers big out of the game (like teams who beat the lakers do). their only advantage is lebron in virtually every other part of the game the lakers win. the only reason they are even as good as they are now is because lebron is as good as he is. he's truly the "most valuable", however i believe in the end he wont be valuable enough. unless of course lebron is JUST THAT GOOD , which i don't believe he is. if he proves me wrong he proves me wrong , i wouldn't be surprised if he did though becaue he's an all-time dude and in my opinion if i was putting together and all-time team he would be my small forward. Again if you niggas wanna talk ball i'll talk ball but all this bullshit "your a hater" or "i just think my team is gonna win because im intrinsically connected to my city and wish the best for it" i'm good

Yep the announcers/analysts have underestimated the eastern conference, but they fall into that trap many times...They just need to give the top teams more credit where it's due...

no the heat had the home court too. that's not gonna matter this year though cause the lakers are gonna win, they are on a mission and a warpath after the finals last year. the lakers snuck up on teams last year with how good they were that's why the breezed through the playoff. the next year after u surprise folks it's much harder (cough new orleans cough) which is why the lakers are running into adversity however they are the best team and they are motivated so they will take it. fact of the matter is from game to game u have ups and downs (today was a down) but nobody can take 4 out of 7 from them.

first of all u jumped into the conversation in the middle. we were talking top to bottom in terms of playoff teams , not the league in general. the west is top heavy in it's dominance while the east is fluid in it mediocrity. let me explain cause i know you don't get what i mean. after the playoff teams in the west (with the exclusion of the suns) you get a HUGE drop off. the kings , clippers , warriors and grizzlies are the worst teams in the NBA. while in the east INCLUDING playoff seeds 4 on down the east pretty much sucks. but because the east has been SOOO bad for SOOO long you get an influx of talent through the draft and the east is raising it's level of talent. so you have a lot of mid-level weak teams in addition to teams that just actually SUCK. i.e. the bulls , the hawks those are young mid-level teams who get to make the playoffs where as the good mid-level young teams in the west (i.e. the thunder) don't make the playoffs. bottom line is because the west is so good in terms of playoff teams the teams at the absolute bottom are just that at the absolute bottom. while in the east it's not that way cause after orlando everybody is pretty much jut blah and has a chance to make the playoffs if you have one decent player (i.e. miami getting the 5th seed vs. winning 15 games with the addition of a healthy d.wade or chicago getting derrick rose and doing what they did this year)
