Those 3's by Battier to start the game gave the Rockets some momentum that carried them thru all 4 quarters, i think the Lakers all watched how the Hawks folded from the start last night and figured the Rockets would do the samething without Ming in there

it was against an atlanta hawks team who is about to get swept. And the Rockets just became depleted. T-Mac doesnt count. Because if he were playing, they wouldnt be in the 2nd round.

lol i'm not worried about you or any of the cavs. nobody on your team can't guard odom. that's gonna be the difference down the strech of the playoffs, mark those words now. cleveland will not win the title this year, they don't have enough firepower. lebron is a beast but he can't single-handedly win a title. Mo Williams & Delante are good but they are john starks type players, warm and cold. I approach basketball from a basketball fan standpoint not a laker fan standpoint. i'm from LA thus they are my team but i call a spade a spade and I always have. The lakers will be fine there problem this year is sustained effort not toughness. they only play tough in big games and they dial it in too much. once they get passed this round every game is "big" and they will respond accordingly. like i said in my other post getting socked in the mouth early in the playoffs is good late. Boston last year is an example of that. but regardless of the lakers the cavs aren't winning shit they just aren't good enough. the eastern conference is the weaker conference they have gotten better but they are still weak. you have 8 quality teams out west and you have 3 in the east. that's why the cavs got the best record this year cause they were able to play niggas like the knicks and the raptors 3 and 4 times. the cavs wouldn't even beat the nuggets in a seven game series.

Which is a problem. You have to be wary of who is IN the game, not who is out...

I mentioned in the beginning of the game that the Rockets came out like the Magic did in that series clincher against the Sixers. When Howard/Yao are in the game for their respective teams, they are the focal point of the offense and it's more of a half court oriented offense. When they're out, you check out who is remaining in the roster and gauge how the team is going to run their game plan. The Magic have a set of perimeter players around Howard, and the same goes for the Rockets and Yao.

As far as the Hawks, they had no shot of beating the Cavs with or without Johnson, Williams, and Horford at full strength. The difference is that Cleveland don't give a fuck who's in front of them, they'll still do what they do...

Great observation. Miami and Boston were more athletic in their matchups against the Mavs and Lakers. But also, they were able to use their advantages better than their opponents.

As far as Battier goes, he is not known for shooting that many shots, and is under 40% from 3 but he is fundamentally sound...He did have a hot start, but so did just about everyone on the Rockets team.

you have heard it because it's true. the eastern conference is the weaker conference from top to bottom, which is what I mean. if you took each playoff teams and stacked them next to each other, in the west you have 6 teams that when playing at their highest level are capable of winning the NBA title. in the east you only have 3 teams. over the past decade each year in the east traditionally you only have 1 team that is a real title contender. sometimes that team win (i.e. the pistons , celtics and heat), however that doesn't change that top to bottom the west is a better conference. what that does mean though is that eastern conference teams have a much easier road to the finals. cleveland is playing scrub ass teams and running them... this doesn't guarantee future success when they run into teams that belong on the court with them. This season i believe particularly that will hurt them.
