This is short sighted and wrong.
These 5 years, campaign and then administration for Trump, have been crazy. I really can’t believe the stuff he has gotten away with. The Russia angle makes all this crazy. When will Russia show their true face and start undermining the GOP. Maybe they won’t, but I don’t think their endgame stops here. Hopefully, they’re satisfied with the damage they have done and won’t try to dismantle us completely. This is one time I am hoping they’re actually in lockstep with the GOP and they just want to be allies.
I couldn't make it past your point 1, either. You start off with a blanket assumption and ignore that I'm only talking about this specific instance. I don't for one second think that any politicians act solely in a selfless fashion, and of course Democratic legislators are just as capable of being self serving. I am in no way "young" or naive, but if believing that makes you feel better than thinking someone is nuanced enough to see reality and also want it to be better, than so be it.
And you also bite back with false equivalency. Yes, there has been previous levels of shadiness by everyone. No, it isn't new. But like I've said and been saying, the part where it happens in broad daylight and is also greenlit/ignored by the electorate is definitely worse than it used to be. Naysayers act like they can't see the handwriting on the wall or are just so nihilistic as to literally want things to fall apart. The latter can't be reached, and the former don't understand enough to be reached.
I'm fine with admitting that Democrats play the game wrong on many occasions, and it costs them. But when the level of fuckery has reached this point, there isn't anything to end-around by trying to play more games. You talk about making Trump stronger, but he can't be stronger with his base than he already is. I don't see the point in tapdancing around the issues like he isn't going to lie and say he's right regardless of what happens. Put the truth out there, and then if we keep going this hole, at least we know we did what we could on that front.
But I agree on a few things, too. Now that we've pushed through (or seem to be about to push through) this process, it is time to focus harder on issues. Healthcare is a lynchpin issue in the minds of people, and very few candidates are pushing it at all.
Of the things that bother me, this is mildly irritating. Democrats do this fairly consistently. I get not wanting to seem like the bad guy you were fighting, but at the same time, this isn't a wrestling match. If Dems can ever get control again, I don't know if the exact process and procedure of the law will be able to fix the damage that's been done.
The model for how Congress is run needs to be overhauled, and I don't even know that we have a system that can make that happen.

Unfortunately. Like i said. The most it will do is get voters to rethink the upcoming election, but it's my guess, all Republicans with agent orange are being paid off. Dems should have called their bluff about it being their job to call Bolton. I'm hopeful and see just as much of the news of what may potentially happen, but looks like white supremacy secures this. Someone said at 7:15pm tomorrow there'll be big news... what's left other than an indictment of others or straight acquittal as expected. Pure shitshow.
