you connect the hard drive to the pc only when transferring movies and getting the update. follow my steps above about updating the firmware. All other times, your hd should be connected only to the wd media player.
you need to put the firmware in the root of your hardrive, not in a folder

It was cheap, simple, plays my joints.

whats good about this is that its small and can easily be taken with you if you travel.

i almost never watch tv now...unless i`m watching a game....
same here. if it wasn't for the kids and girl, i probably wouldn't even have cable. 2tbs full of blu rays and counting.
yea i downloaded the show 24 all seven seasons
you know how long that would take to burn to dvd
but i did upgrade to the new live version, but i dotn use that stream shit, i need a router and some cables but i dotn wanna buy all that
i gave my other one to a family member
i think the WD mini player sells for around that price. but no HDMI.

u dont need to connect a drive to the small wd tv live box, u can stream the videos from your pc, the live box also has the 2 usb ports like the old one, if you still wanna use an external drive to it/also with live live wd tv u can connect to youtube and some other shit
basically you can stream your movies from your pc with the wd tv live, old one cant do that
either way if you dotn have the old one, i would just get the new one, its only $15 more
and they havent updated the old ones firmware in a long time, the new live one still gets updates

Press Fast Forward/Reverse on the remote then Next/Prev to skip forwards or backwards 10 minutes at a time.

Use multiple external subtitles with the same video
If you have a file named video.avi, you can add subtitle files named video.srt to view subtitles. I got the WDTV a few months ago. Between it and my PS3, I'm SET. I considered the Live joint, but don't really see a need for a redundant device at this time. Genius idea by WD, though. I love that thing!

This is one of the most used appliances in my house....one in the bedroom and a live one in The Cave.
Have not watched a DVD in the year I have had this...
Funny thing is,this year I paid more attention to the Oscars than ever....figured out because I had seen more of the movies than ever,having just about every movie mentioned on my WD harddrive
And I might add,not paying for a damn one....
