This is one of the most used appliances in my house....one in the bedroom and a live one in The Cave.
Have not watched a DVD in the year I have had this...

Funny thing is,this year I paid more attention to the Oscars than ever....figured out because I had seen more of the movies than ever, having just about every movie mentioned on my WD harddrive:lol:

And I might add,not paying for a damn one....

when I tell you that this stays in HEAVY rotation in my crib I aint lying.

Movies and tv shows keep this little joint busy.

Last joint I watched was the hurt locker. Had it for a while but had just not gotten around to it.

These types of devices are great.

However i wonder if they are gonna start building the codecs to play these joints straight into the HDTV's in the future.

Just plug your external drive straight into a USB slot on the tv and BANG. ur on your way

i believe some tv's have this feature already.

since buying this device, i am at about 400 downloaded blu rays. i filled up a 1tb and am half way full on my 1.5 tb.

really? thats cool I will do a little bit of research

That feature seems a great way to add value to a HDTV set.

am I the only one still using this?

I see a lot of new devices that do the same thing as this

theres even a new version of this one

but mine is workin fine, i see no need to upgrade

so am I The Last of the Mohicans ?

Still Rock the OG. Will get another one. I take this Lil bitch on the road with me and watch movies offshore. I think I might start slangin bundles. We all have HD screens in our rooms, but they are all built in DVD. Who wants to carry a stack of DVD's?

So Tim, I'm gonna have to put all 68 of my movies in their own folders?

that shit is a full day's work, but WELL worth the effort. I have Bluray movies, nature docs, science docs, tv shows, and sports all in seperate folders/categories. Looks like Redbox on the screen when i want to watch something.

shouldnt take a full day depending on how much you have. Create the folders, and drag and drop. The copying wont take long, because the media is not being moved to a different hd. its staying on the same one.

i was exaggerating the time lol...my point being, the day i sat down to do that, i was like OH SHIT . actually took me a couple hrs.

so i have to create a folder for each of my movies, if i want the thumbnail pic to show? I cant just have the pic be the same name as the movie, without being in folders?

i have like 200gb of movies:eek:

yep, you have to have a folder for each movie, that contains the jpg image. You can go on a site like amazon, when you have time, and just drag and drop the pics from the site to the folder. What i do now is, when i go to the site where i download my movies from, i just grab the image/boxcover while im there.

some of my images dont show up though, so one day when i have time, i will have to make a list of which ones arent working, and grab them. i like to have things in order.

i'll do it when i get home. its not a must that you do it. it just looks more like a movie library.

i think it only takes jpg

i just grab whats on amazon or in the thread, most of the time the pic displays with no issues.
the name of the pic doesnt matter.

I just did a lil test to see how it would look

& the thumbnail pics look very small

u cant really see the name thats on the dvd cover sometimes

I dont think its worth going throw all the trouble

plus you can find what your lookin for faster in list mode i think

also timrock i notice u dont really need to put the movies in folders

u just goota make sure the pic & the movie have the same name

If a jpg file is given the same filename as a media file, it will be used as the thumbnail for that file. For example, an image named “video.jpg” would be used as the thumbnail for a file named “video.avi”.

try this site:

www.movieposterdb.com
u can see/select the posters in different sizes. it will still come out relatively small though.

Did you know? Quick WD TV tips

Thumbnails
If a folder contains an image named “folder.jpg”, that image will be used as the folder’s thumbnail.

Does this work on the old one?

Fuck that use this shit right here for the thumbnails!

You know I thought there would be a button for that too but I think the whole point of that software is so you can choose the thumbs without having to search. So I wonder if you can just set up your favorite site and let it go.

I still did like 500 movies in like a little over an hour using it so it's pretty quick.

Yeah as you get into it it kind of becomes redundant but you will start to figure out which sites have the best thumbnails. I only checked the ones that serviced american movies which cut down the load time and I usually didn't have to click too man different pics before I found the right one and then on to the next one.

Andeyhollawho was it worth it doing all the clickin?

u like how the covers look?
