The eighth installment in the Star Wars franchise will be called Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Lucasfilm announced today.

In an interview earlier this month with USA Today, director Rian Johnson said The Last Jedi would focus on what’s been going on with Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill). What Luke has been up to since his disappearance will be the main question that Johnson will explore.

“I’m approaching it with a take that I hope feels honest and real and is going to be interesting to folks and make sense,” Johnson said.

The Last Jedi takes place directly after the events of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which ended with Rey (Daisy Ridley) finding Luke on Ahch-To. In the novelization of the movie, it’s revealed Ahch-To is home of the first Jedi Temple. The novelization marks the first time the planet is mentioned in the Star Wars universe.

Dope title, as it could refer to Rey or Luke in a similar way in which Return of the Jedi could have been argued to refer to either Luke or Anakin.
Will fin finally get some Jedi Rey pussy?

He saved her and took a light saber to the fucking back.

I'm so sick of prequels....sequels.....hopscotching back n forth in time....siiiiigh !!!!
right...when i started watching rogue one i thought it was going follow up from force awakens, rogue one was good but it like it goes before star wars the one that came out in the 70s

Cats complaining about the timeline of these releases don't need to watch these films if they are that upset or confused. Lol
Not confused at all......just tired of the shit....nothing can be done as a continuous story anymore....just more money making efforts stickin movies where the fuck ever in the timeline....:smh:

You're tired of movies adding to and fleshing out stories from previous films and adding to an overall thematic universe? So you like just linear stories? OK.
Yup...from movies to comics (X-MEN), etc....when Marvel started making a gazillion titles...they fucked it up with that...I lost interest with all the story lines and spin off series!!!.to each his own!

We Have a Bad Feeling About That Sith-Red Star Wars Logo

THERE HAS BEEN an awakening—have you felt it? It’s not the reveal of the new Star Wars movie title, Star Wars: The Last Jedi. It’s the internet’s excitement over the logo in the teaser. This time, it’s red, not yellow. And that could be a big deal.

It’s unclear whether the new color is for the teaser image only, or if it’ll actually appear in the movie’s opening titles. If it’s the latter, Episode VIII will be the first film in the Skywalker saga to forego the familiar yellow logo. (And just one year after Rogue One ditched the Star Wars title card altogether.) That would make it the franchise’s biggest break from its classic intro in four decades. You don’t make that kind of change haphazardly. Plus, even if it is just for teaser imagery, the color choice still sends a message to ardent fans.

Red is a significant color in Star Wars mythology. Sure, it was the identifier for Luke Skywalker’s X-Wing squadron in the original film, but the color’s overtones are typically insidious. It’s the color not only of many a Sith’s lightsaber, including Darth Vader’s and Darth Maul’s, but also the livery of the Imperial Guard from Return of the Jedi (arguably the most colorful costumes in the entire series to date). Even a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, red tends to signify danger—at least for the good guys.

Red’s menacing connotation applies to logos, as well. Lucasfilm has used red logos three times before: The official promotional logo for 1983’s Return of the Jedi (or, as it was first known, Revenge of the Jedi, as can be seen from the video below), and in the on-screen title cards for the 2012 Star Wars: The Clone Wars episodes “Brothers” and “Revenge.”

Two of these three uses traced the rise of villains. “Brothers” and “Revenge”, a two-episode arc from the fourth season of the animated Clone Wars series, tell the story of the return of Darth Maul, presumed dead after the events of Star Wars: Episode I—The Phantom Menace.

Obviously, that’s not true of Return of the Jedi, the happy ending of the original trilogy. Yet Jedi shares a thematic bond nonetheless, in that it’s a movie wherein good guys die. Return of the Jedi sees not only the death of Darth Vader (whose ghostly appearance at the film’s conclusion suggests he has somehow gone back to being a Jedi rather than Sith) but also the more peaceful demise of Yoda.

All of this might be clutching at color-coded straws, and have no significance for director Rian Johnson’s movie. But, taken together with that title (and assuming that Lucasfilm knows exactly what it’s doing by changing the color of a logo that fans know is supposed to be yellow), one thing becomes increasingly clear about the follow-up to The Force Awakens: It’s probably time to have a bad feeling about this.

Hmm Just noticed in that teaser above luke's lightsaber was blue not green.

Thankfully back than lucus had folk around him that talked him out of dumb ideas.

Yeah. They say that the blue didn't show up right in the desert scenes or something, I dunno. Somebody told George no, how about green and he said yeah, that was what I was thinking and it worked perfectly.

Same thing with Mace and his purple lightsaber. Sam loves Prince and asked Lucas to do Purple. Lucas said okay, shit, why not, but that's it - NO more colors for nobody else - ever. I love that he is THE ONLY CANON Jedi to use it and that says a lot. Had entire arguments with white cats who refused to believe that Mace was the had of the Jedi Order and that's why his shit was special. He is second, only to Master Yoda and whiteys attacked me like crazy. Yes, Yoda is still the head honcho but Mace was the mouth piece, the head and yes, he was black. Them folks hated it but it sure still looks that way all these years later.
