Star Wars The Last Jedi (SPOILER Discussion thread)

As long seeks power he on one of those paths.
Ren desires power because he is scared and feels abandoned and betrayed by all he loved, IMO he is not trying to destroy the First Order.

Vader only wanted to rule when he had someone / something to protect... when he lost everything he hated himself and the emperor- Vader committed to the dark side, followed orders and sought to increase his power. but never thought of destroying the emperor until he found out about Luke

Technically there was no sith order for Vader,
Palpatine really only sought order
not freedom through power-
seeking order is not the sith way.
He tried to destroy the cycle... That's why force wielders weren't the only thing he purged
Palpatine personally also tried to embrace both sides of the force.

As powerful as he was, Vader died while still essentially blind and ignorant of the nature of the force. Ren might be doomed to repeat it if he doesn't embrace the light and the dark.
He might be the one to lead Rey and himself to balance because in this last movie she was written to show its not her

You are killing me with this technically thing.....

And sadly if we start adding Palpatine true motivations you run smack into those that say the outside material shouldn’t be used in this argument. I do get your point though... I’m just trying my best to stick within the framework of the movies and series... to eliminate the bitching about “why do you have to read the books to know this”. Even though think that what you mentioned was also brought up in Return of the Sith. I’m hungry and my team lost.. so my processing ability is off right now. Lol

Can anyone tell me How Snoke connected Kylo and Rey together when he had NO clue who Rey was?

Snoke was informed about Rey from Ren in the Force awakens when Ren told him that she resisted his interrogation. Ren then said she was strong with the force.

Did you not watch Force Awakens?

yep. Saw it multiple times.
He knew who she was but never met her, how the fuck do you find someone that is in a different part of the galaxy that you have never met or experienced them use the force?
Shit doesn't work that way

He knew who she was after Kylo got his ass kicked...
she has a strong connection to the force and he would be able to find her after seeing Kylos memories

Luke was able to hide from Snoke because he severed his connection with the force

Spoiler: Did the little boy from the horse stable use the force to grab the broom at the end? Flashed the Rebellion ring and held the broom like a lightsaber?

I guess there going to be some kind of time jump in Ep 9..

Lupita stay getting shitted on

It's a fucking disgrace

were her scenes cut?

Maz was supposed to have a larger role..they had to do a shit-ton of re-writes due to Carrie passing,in fact it's confirmed Leia will be written out of IX altogether

Would have loved to see Kylo try to turn on Snoke but he hems both him and Rey up with his powers and Luke comes in to save the day and a masterful showdown between Snoke and Luke while Rey and Kylo take on the bodyguards. Luke and Snoke battle to a standstill and Rey sneak attacks and kills Snoke...then as they celebrate, Kylo sneak attacks and kills Luke...and that puts a permanent vandetta between Rey and Kylo and they are sworn enemies and the saga continues....shit woulda been way better!

You just described part of the very first script draft..most of this was supposed to have happened

:lol:That to me this is one of the problems of the movie. You dont get to know the extent of his power. Because they killed the mafucka without the audience getting to know the character. Was he that powerful? We sure the fuck dont know.

We know because of the link he did.
He had force lightning.
He flung rey around without lifting a finger.
He was a bad dude but was too cocky.

I'm really curious how the fuck does a janitor know the offensive capabilities and weaknesses of every First Order weapon or system?

Had to go to wookiepedia... looks like there was a companion book that I missed. According to the book Finn was one of best cadets of then FN stormtrooper corps and scored high marks as a cadet. Turns out he served directly under Captain Phasma. She asked to see his gun on the battle of jakku because Finn failed to kill some negotiators on a previous mission when he was a cadet. That when he was put on janitorial staff for Starkiller base. Phasma wanted Finn on the battle of Jakku because she thought that he would understand what it meant to be a stormtrooper and fight back when face to face to those attacking him. When on Jakku... Poe ended up killing his boy FN-2003 and that was the blood on Finns helmet.
That’s when FInn... decided to run.
That explains a lot.

I disagree.

After TFA we were told that snoke wasn't a Sith and that the Sith order had ended.

IMO when Kylo offered for rei to join him he was looking to reestablish the Sith order which goes back to what he said in TFA to the vader mask

So when I say Sith... I’m really saying Darkside cause I’m not going to say Darkside Follower all the time. I would Love to say First Order but the movie has shown that it’s two separate things. If I would have one complaint with the new trilogy is that they should have give the Darkside faction a name. For now I’m just going to say Knights of Ren to avoid confusion.

But as for you point... i disagree.. he made it clear that he didn’t agree with the way that Snoke was following and based on the films that would be limited to the Knights of Ren. I think in Force Awakens he wanted to restart the Sith order but after being connected with Rey ... he came to the conclusion that all remants of the past must end.

I continue to think that people are just finding things to nitpick... just to nitpick..

The movie showed Holegram Snoke use the force from another part of the galaxy to move one of his generals when they disappointed him. Why would it be harder for him to find another strong user of the force...

This also makes a better explanation of Why Luke Cut himself off completely from the force... so no one could track him.
