Argentina and Brazil have strong squads as expected, but I'm keeping my eyes on Mexico. I think they're quietly gonna sneak their way into the finals. Look out for Uruguay as well. Suarez is a man on fire right now.

I'm gonna take CONCACAF competitors Mexico for the win.

shit ...i might fly to chi n watch the jamaica game...

shit...all the other games in cali...too far...

i wish they added the times these games came on...

Being that I am of Jamaician heritage, I am hoping for the reggae boyz for a good run of form after a shock win in Chile. But chalk is chalk, even without Messi, Argentina is too strong with Higuiun and Kun Ageruo up top. I can also see Mexico sneak in with Javier Hernandez in a rich vein of form as well.

The 2016 Copa America Centenario begins as tournament hosts U.S. square off against Colombia at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California. (KO: 9.30 p.m. ET/6.30 p.m. PT, FOX Sports 1).

Jurgen Klinsmann's side are heavy underdogs in Group A, behind Los Cafeteros, Costa Rica and Paraguay, but they're riding a wave of confidence following three straight victories over Puerto Rico, Ecuador and Bolivia in warm-ups.

Three key points

1. This is the 45th edition of the Copa America since its inaugural competition in 1916. Uruguay beat Chile and Brazil to win the four-team tournament.

2. This is the fourth Copa America in which the U.S. has participated and the first time as hosts. In its previous three appearances, the U.S. made it out of the group stage once. The team finished fourth in 1995.

3. Need to catch up on the Copa before it kicks off? Check out Tim Vickery's Power Rankings, Jeff Carlisle's feature on Fabian Johnson and #CopaRank, our top 25 countdown of the best players in the U.S. this summer. Our fan guide has everything you need to know about the 16 teams.

Player of the day

It has to be James Rodriguez. Colombia's playmaker burst onto the scene at the 2014 World Cup but has failed to meet expectations at Real Madrid. The Copa America is a big chance for him to reinvent himself

The 2016 Copa America Centenario tournament will get underway Friday with the opening match (USA-Colombia) and conclude with the championship match at MetLife Stadium on June 26. The United States will host all 32 matches as 16 participating nations will battle to win the 100th celebratory edition of this historic South American tournament.

The 16 teams participating are broken into four groups of four teams, with the top two teams of each group advancing to the knockout stage. Groups were drawn on Feb. 21. Let's check out each group, along with the entire TV schedule for arguably the biggest soccer tournament on American soil since the 1994 FIFA World Cup.

Jurgen Klinsmann has his hands full here, with arguably the toughest group of the tournament. I wouldn't necessarily call it the "group of death" like everyone else, but I certainly wouldn't be surprised if the US finished last in this group.

No Neymar, no problem. Or so we think. With the Barcelona star devoting his time with the Olympic squad, Brazil may have some bumps along the way. Ecuador got off to a red-hot start in the South American World Cup qualifiers and is currently second through six matches, scoring 13 of 18 possible points. Only Uruguay is ahead of Ecuador in the WCQ standings. Peru also gave a Neymar-less Brazil squad some fits in last year's Copa America. That said, it would be stunning if Brazil crashed out of this tournament in the group stage.

Mexico and Uruguay are the big favorites to advance out of this group, with both sides clashing right off the bat on June 5 in Phoenix. The winner of that match will likely be the winner of the group. If that game finishes in a draw, it'll be all about racking up the highest goal differential against the minnows, Jamaica and Venezuela.

Brazil is always a favorite and Neymar can be electrifying but he disappears at the strangest times. Messi is hurt and in court so idk about Argentina. Costa Rica and Columbia showed some shit in the WC. Should be good. What are the odds on horse-teeth suarez biting someone? I need to get my bet down.

USA in the group of death.

A rematch of last year's Copa America final right away will have soccer fans drooling. Chile, the hosts of last year's tournament, took down Lionel Messi and Co. in penalty kicks. Argentina has since then bounced back with a revenge 2-1 win in Santiago back in March during the World Cup qualifiers. Like the Mexico-Uruguay clash in Group C, this match will dictate how the rest of the group shakes out.

Here are the scheduled matches for Group D.

This will be arguably the biggest championship soccer match on American soil since the 1994 FIFA World Cup. The final of that tournament was at the Rose Bowl. This year's Cope America Centenario tournament final will take place in the East coast, at MetLife Stadium.

This will be the first Copa America hosted outside of South America, and stands as the 100th anniversary of the inaugural tournament.

Here is the TV schedule for the opening game between USA and Columbia:

9:30 p.m. — United States vs. Colombia
TV Channel: Fox Sports 1 (English), Univision Deportes (Spanish)

The USMNT has not had much success against Colombia over the years with a 3-11-3 all-time record, but USA head coach Jurgen Klinsmann will look for his younger core of players — including DeAndre Yedlin, Christian Pulisic and Bobby Wood — to create a spark Friday night. USA enters Copa America with a 4-1 record in its last five contests.

USA will have its hands full against a talented Colombia squad, led by captain James Rodriguez, who captured the Golden Boot as the top goalscorer of the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Here's where to catch the game online:

Live Streaming

Fox Sports Go — Fox Sports' premier streaming service will carry Friday's game online at 9:30 p.m. You will need a cable subscription in order to use the site.

Fox Soccer 2GO — Fox Soccer 2GO offers a very comprehensive live streaming option for the Copa America tournament. However, you will need a subscription in order to watch.

Fox Soccer 2GO App — Same as above, this app will allow viewers to watch the game on their mobile devices or any other streaming service out there.

Univision Now — For Spanish broadcasts, viewers can watch Friday's game online at Univision's streaming website. You will need a cable subscription in order to watch the game.

Radio

Futbol de Primera Radio — Play-by-play announcer Andres Cantor will offer Spanish-language coverage for all 32 Copa America matches on Futbol de Primera's 103 affiliated radio stations in the U.S., including pre and post-game shows.

Colombia are already a problem and they haven't even started balling yet smh

Why on earth does Jermaine Jones play for this team?!?!?!?!?

2 goals already!

I am not watching now but that's what came up on my phone.

Colombia have the goals, (harsh PK imo) but the US have surprisingly had the lions share of play and chances.

Have to capitalize on that in the second to overturn this.

Am I missing something?
Why is Jurgen pissed when it was clearly a hand ball?
Unintentional or not :smh:

It's not as black and white as that. Intent plays a part which makes it a grey area.

Comes down to the subjection of the referee.
