Soccer: Copa America Centenario Final Match (Who U Got?)

Colombia have the goals, (harsh PK imo) but the US have surprisingly had the lions share of play and chances.

Have to capitalize on that in the second to overturn this.

I don't see that happening

Your right

The US has had opportunities, plenty

Wonder if a loss here will have an effect on the US coach's future?

The way things are looking?

either one

Cause they ain't winnng the tournament.
Believe it or not, his job isn't in jeopardy with this tournament. The straw that gonna break that camel's back would be failure to qualify for Russia 2018. That would certainly get him axed, but I don't think he'll be on the hook for this one

As much hate as he gets from the US fan base, he's done very well off the pitch in terms of player development, selections, etc..

The in game tactics at times tho do you make you wonder. I find myself screaming at his lineups often.

United States are too loyal. They should have about 6 players from the U-23s up there ready to roll. We looked old and weak tonight. Can't wait to watch Jamaica....they are a very DANGEROUS team

i`m about to priceline me a ticket to the chi...

The US just doesn't have the talent level of the rest of the world! US kids don't eat and breathe football. US kids also have football and baseball, Little League, etc. Brazil, Uruguay, Chile, Colombia, Argentina kids for instance ONLY are focused on football. Same goes for European kids, in Germany, Italy, Netherlands, France, Spain. Only in England and France, Scotland, do they have Rugby as a viable alternative sport for kids to aspire to besides football!

I copied the quote from a live discussion on this game. I only
replaced that stupid and hypocritical word "soccer" with football..

And the author is right. The US cannot be a serious competitor
in this sport with its level of commitment. Americans simply do
not play enough of the sport, even if there are allegedly more
Americans playing the sport (25 million) than anywhere else in
the world except China..

We used to wake up, play football, then get chided, forced to
take a shower and sent to school, where we would play football
on all the breaks. After school, we'd come home and take off our
school uniforms, and go and play football until time for supper,
and then play football again, until ordered to take another shower
and go to sleep..

If I never became a football player, lord knows it was not that I did
not play enough of the sport. It is that other kids were faster, quicker
and stronger than I was...

In Brazil, they take such kids, train them and make them into stars...

I think one important point is here is that in football, the US will not
have an athletic advantage over black teams like Colombia, and Brazil
(if it that country returns to featuring black players). The US will have
to make its mark by taking this game to the innercity, and make young
black men love it the way they love basketball. Then, only then, will see
Americans start approaching the level of Neymar, Messi, or Africans like
JJ Okocha, Didier Drogba or Roger Milla.... American cacs will not give
the US a competitive advantage, and this is what Klinsman preached in
2010 before he got the job, and it why he accepted the job in 2010 when
it was offered to him. He hoped to take advantage of the athleticism of
young black Americans but it is not that easy. They have to acquire the
football skills too..

The notion that you can go to the field, 3 times a week and have 2
hour supervised, or coached practise, and then become a star is
delusional

The advantages the US has are organisation, money and facilities, to say
nothing of influence, which can get it access to practise against the
best teams in the world

The US may still get out their group if they can
beat Paraguay and Costa Rica

100% accurate
And why is Michael Bradley still on the team?

Yea we hold onto players far beyond their shelf life. Time to let em ride off into the sunset.

Those U23's however are looking VERY promising for the future. Pulisic and Zelalem can lead the way for me. Shining lights those two

Jam Rock should be interesting indeed. Giles Barnes is a hell of a goalscorer.

how far you guys think JA will go? Whos the dark horse team?

It is hard to tell, Jamaica inconsistencies is frustrating.

They are in a tough group they have to win 2 matches to get through.

Jamaica actually have a really really strong spine right now. One of the best we've seen from the Reggae Boyz in quite some time. With Barnes up top, Watson pulling the strings in midfield and Leicester's Wes Morgan patrolling that backline, it's very promising. The dismantling of the US in last years Gold Cup was no fluke.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if they made a solid run.

I'm rooting for them Reggae Boys

Have you been watching the 2018 CONCACAF World cup qualifiers!

They are playing horrible. They struggle with Nicaragua and barely get to the group stage. Their chances of making it to the final 6 is slim now.

I know they have the talent but they just not producing consistently. That beating from Mexico really fuck them up.

Glad to see clumsy Hector in the middle and no longer playing centre back.

And they need to get back that goal keeper that got the head injury in the Gold Cup. Not sure why he is on the sideline.

I wouldn't say it's horrible.. Maybe sloppy but they're far from out the mix.

Their next WCQ is against Panama. They get revenge for the first round and they knock them out of 2nd with Haiti awaiting.

There's still a good chance for them to qualify.

Barnes looks fat and slopp

They not beating Panama in Panama.
They might beat Haiti match in Jamaica.
Currently their goal difference is -4.
I say their chance is not good.

Ask when last they won a match at the office.

They crowd keep booing them because of their lackluster performance in Jamaica.

Maybe this friendly win against Chile recently can get them back on track.

 @ the Barnes shade..

We'll see how it turns out but they're still in control of their fate. Just two games in form and they're in.

US has no one to replace bradley. their not deep at all
I'd place Darlington Nagbe alongside him at all times if Klinsmann keeps opting with this 4-2-3-1 bs. That mix would work so long as Bradley sits in front of the back 4 and sprays. Nagbe can bomb forward and make shit happen but if Bradley keeps venturing off thinking he's Captain America trying to create, that's where we struggle.

Funny cause Danny Williams would be the the ideal holding mid. He could run that show on his own, but rarely gets the call.

Never ever understood why he is running that formation.
Definitely need another scorer.
They are depending way too much on the midfielders and it shows

Dog, especially in CONCACAF!! It should be an all out 4-3-3 attack attack attack mode!

We have quality creative midfielders in the youth coming thru, but have to take the bench cause of that pesky system.

I hate it.

Damn brah!!
4-3-3 is a little too aggressive!!
They don't have the horses like a Ghana, or 90's Brazil teams
I was thinking more of 4-4-2

4-3-3 is better suited to technicians than spritners homey. Look at the entire Dutch catalog & Barcelona of recent years.

We got the possession down now.. Just gotta create more chances and with the player pool we have, 4-3-3 is perfect.

A balls to the wall 4-4-2 was ideal in the Bob Bradley era.
