Soccer: Copa America Centenario Final Match (Who U Got?)

4-3-3 is better suited to technicians than spritners homey. Look at the entire Dutch catalog & Barcelona of recent years.

We got the possession down now.. Just gotta create more chances and with the player pool we have, 4-3-3 is perfect.

A balls to the wall 4-4-2 was ideal in the Bob Bradley era.
And we definitely don't have the sprinters :giggle:

We've had too many opportunities to get a goal, these boys falling short...Peru looks like they will score at least 1 goal

That last miss was reminiscent of the whole first half. They had CLEAR chances to finish but didn't. That's what happens unfortunately.

True, they missed too many chances, I guess they need just a little something more to be really competitive.

To Haiti's credit, they're right there... But the passing is a fundamental concern.

Balls are being played to feet at breakneck speed every single time. Less is always more when giving a killer defense shredding pass. Tonight however, more times than not, players were either over hitting their targets or under hitting it destroying the plays completely.

As previously stated, sharpen the passes up in and around the box and there's no reason they can't find the net.

Paolo Guerrero leads Peru to Copa America win over Haiti

Paolo Guerrero became Peru's all-time leading goal scorer in giving his team a 1-0 win over Haiti to begin their Copa America campaign on Saturday.

After a tight first half in Seattle, Peru took control after the break and Guerrero scored in the 61st with a diving header to open Group B play.

The South American side struggled to break down Haiti, making their Copa debut, in the early stages, though Guerrero curled a shot wide.

Haiti threatened in the 28th minute and Peru defender Alberto Rodriguez broke up a one-two with his arm at the top of the box, but Mechak Jerome's free kick was over the bar.

Peru gained in confidence as the game progressed, though, and Renato Tapia blasted a shot wide from 25 yards out.

Guerrero continued to prove dangerous, pushing a volleyed effort off target in the 39th minute.

Just before the break, the Flamengo striker brought the ball down on his chest and laid it off for Edison Flores, who struck the inside of the post, though the ball stayed out.

But the second half belonged to Peru as Haiti struggled to contain Guerrero, and he finally delivered by diving forward to connect with Flores' cross in the middle of the box for his 27th international goal.

Haiti offered little in response until the final minute of stoppage time, when substitute Kervens Belfort got behind the Peru defence on a free kick but somehow pushed his header wide from point-blank range.

Peru took the lead in Group B ahead of Brazil's opener against Ecuador later on Saturday night.

that missed header...

I felt a damn gut punch...

its been a ROUGH couple of months.

but these games and the finals have been a nice distraction.

Brazil saved by a blown call after ECU's 68th minute goal
disallowed. ECU has been better than Brazil in the last
few months, and this speaks to deeper seated problem
in Brazilian football that people realise. As I see it cacs
in Brazil, not least of them Dunga, believe that the name
Brazil, rather than the advantage of having black people
who bring a strength and athleticism advantage, is why
Brazil wins games.. Other people are not playing with
this bullshit, and the likes ECU are fielding black teams
and bettering the mighty Brazil..

Fuckin refs.

And his clown ass commisioner is like the CBS' ex NFL ref mike Carey, dude NEVER disagrees with an officials call. And I've noticed the FOX commentators have zero spine either. The have not been calling out the refs for their bullshit calls all during the tournament

FOX are a joke as a network period. They're full of shit from top to bottom.

Slaying them Beckys lol

Wes Morgan won't play for Jamaica in their Copa America Centenario opener. Apparently he's too tired from partying.

"Our team is complete. Wes Morgan has come, but he is tired; that is clear," Jamaica manager Winfried Schafer told the Sunday Gleaner. "All week, he has not trained. He partied in London and Thailand, but I am very happy he is here and maybe he can help (play) in the second match, but not the first match because it is too difficult."

Morgan has plenty of reason to party. He just captained Leicester City to the most unlikely Premier League title in the competition's history and has since been celebrating. He did it in England, and then he joined his teammates in Thailand, where Leicester's owner is from and organized some celebrations.

The problem is that Jamaica were hoping to have the dominant centerback in their defense for Copa America. And now Morgan won't play against Venezuela (Sunday, 5 p.m. ET, FOX).

If Jamaica had to play without Morgan for one match this tournament, this is the match they would want him out for. Venezuela might be the worst team in South America and the Reggae Boyz can get a win without him. Michael Hector will probably step into the starting lineup for Morgan, and after Hector's strong season for Reading, on loan from Chelsea, Jamaica's defense will still be strong.
