It wasn't just "one of Paterno's staff", it was fucking Sandusky. Dude had been there for years. Office a few steps away from Paterno's.
The email doesn't say whether Paterno cosigned what the pedo was doing, whether he was ready to cover it up, or anything. It simply says that he knew there was an investigation into Sandusky. That infers ZERO guilt to Paterno in and of itself.

Sandusky is a patsy that's clear. Protecting him to the extent thy did makes no sense that's clear. Questions need to be asked about the involvement of the officials as well as the coach. The charity needs to be audited and a list of all the children who ever enrolled into the program,interview them and find out what really happened.
