AN EXAMPLE OF AFRICAN MEDICAL SCIENCE. ILLUSTRATION OF AFRICAN DOCTORS IN 19TH CENTURY (1879) KAHARA,UGANDA PERFORMING A CAESARIAN SECTION. SUCCESSFUL EXAMPLES OF THIS OPERATION WERE VIRTUALLY UNKNOWN IN EUROPE AT THE TIME.

Africans were performing many advanced medical procedures long before they had been conceived in Europe this is just one of many examples.

The British traveler R.W. Felkin who reported this noted that the healer used banana wine to semi-intoxicate the woman and to cleanse his hands and her abdomen prior to surgery. He used a midline incision and applied cautery to minimize hemorrhaging. He massaged the uterus to make it contract but did not suture it; the abdominal wound was pinned with iron needles and dressed with a paste prepared from roots. The patient recovered well, and Felkin concluded that this technique was well-developed and had clearly been employed for a long time. Similar reports come from Rwanda, where botanical preparations were also used to anesthetize the patient and promote wound healing.

visit south Louisiana and see how we lived during those times with your own two eyes.

this was the largest sugarcane plantation in the USA, and EVERY single piece of cane had to be cut by hand. that's like cutting your lawn with a pair of scissors.

fwiu, the average age of slaves at this plantation was 27 yrs old.

sidenote: this is where angel heart (lisa bonet & mickey rourke) was filmed back in 1987.

Canadian born George Dixon became the first black boxing champ in any class (Bantam weight). Known as "Little Chocolate," he stood 5 feet 3.5 inches tall. Dixon claimed the World Bantamweight Championship in 1888 and was officially considered the champion after knocking out Nunc Wallace of England in 18 rounds on June 27, 1890. The following year, on May 31, 1891, Dixon beat Cal McCarthy in 22 rounds to win the Featherweight title. He reportedly fought in an unprecedented 800 bouts.

Dixon suffered from the racism of his time as well as many other notable African American fighters. He finally lost his belt to the hardened Terry McGovern after a long streak of defending his title for more than ten years. Dixon past away in 1909 at the young age of thirty-eight, having never taken a title fight again after his second non-title rematch with McGovern which ended in a no decision.

I found conflict in to whom and when he lost his belt. The majority had a loss to Terry McGovern.

Shortly after 1:00AM Frank Wills, a security guard at the Watergate Complex, noticed tape covering the latch on several doors in the complex (allowing the doors to close but remain unlocked). He removed the tape, and thought nothing of it. He returned an hour later, and having discovered that someone had retaped the locks, Wills called the police. Five men were discovered and arrested inside the DNC's office. This led to one of the biggest political scandals, "Watergate" and the resignation of a President.

Bob Woodward, who was an investigative journalist that helped expose Richard Nixon, was quoted saying, "He's the only one in Watergate who did his job perfectly. - "Frank Wills - Security Guard The Hero of Watergate". Murray Associates.

Harlem's Cotton Club closes. before going any further I would like to say, people dressed and partied then. Nothing is more synonymous with Harlem than the Cotton Club. Opened by Jack Johnson as the Club Deluxe, it was as always taken over by those not from our neighborhood. We create and others take. Then we are in some form not allowed. I always wonder why we would name something "Cotton."
