The “White” Slave Children of New Orleans | 1860s

Slave children Wilson, Charley, Rebecca & Rosa, 1863. Former slaves of mixed race ancestry. White Slaves Series 2 of 5

These cards were sold in 1863-1864 to help raise money to pay for schools for emancipated slaves in New Orleans. The organizers realized that the sympathies that people would have for children who looked white but had been slaves was going to be greater than the sympathy they might have for black-skinned children.

:(

Thanks very much. Never even knew about stuff like this.

I didnt know about it either

The utter cruelty :smh:

Lol

my people are so creative

Over 11,000 patents from her cells & her family isn't getting any monetary benefit from any of it.

proof that blk woman = original woman.

Lol

yup

Trust me, the same people that are profiting off of her cells (and the research) are the same ones who do not want her history, importance, & significance to be well known.

Imho, not only should her grave be found & cleaned-up, I think the president, & the president of the ama should erect a monument in her honor.

I wonder how many lives have been saved...how many medical advances developed, & how much $ has been saved (for research) because this woman's cells are immortal.

Do blk kids (esp girls) know this history...do blk women? Would it change their attitudes about their lives & why they are so important to all of us as the true mothers of mankind?

Dana Albert "D. A." Dorsey (1872-1940) was a businessman, banker, and philanthropist who became one of the first African American millionaires in the American South.

In 1919, Dorsey sold the barrier island of Fisher Island, just east of to automotive pioneer Carl G. Fisher who was developing Miami Beach. In 1925, Fisher traded the island to William Kissam Vanderbilt II in return for a 200-foot (61 m) yacht. Vanderbilt's improvements led to what is today one of the wealthiest and most exclusive residential enclaves in the area.

The first black-owned hotel in Miami was his Dorsey Hotel, and he was the owner of the Negro Savings Bank. Dorsey was a firm believer in education and he donated a large quantity of land for black schools. He gained great respect and admiration from the white community.

I don't believe it's just a coincidence that these pyramids, in different parts of the world, line up with the pyramids at Giza, and the stars in Orion's Belt...almost the same alignment...

Holy shit. Human beings disgust me at times. How could one person do that to another person?
