Not only did my staff and I have to attend the standard mandated training on cultural sensitivity, but due to the nature of our work, we had a seminar on how to be sensitive to LGBT persons . . We learned that in addition to LGBT, a person can consider themselves as Genderqueer or intergender --- which could be totally separate from their self-identified sexual identity or their "physical" sex ....Confusing . . .

I think that sometimes a person or a group becomes so focused on not fitting or being "classified" within a group, term, phrase, definition, or description that they miss the point entirely.
I still don't understand the difference between gay and lesbian...or shouldn't there be a seperate word for gay men? like a male lesbian? no that would be a straight man...I'm confused.
