I just got off the phone with his mom. He had a heart condition that he was diagnosed with since 2010. He died the evening of Tuesday February 10th while on the phone with his cousin. Apparently he passed out in mid conversation and when they got to him it was too late. His mother sounded so hurt it hurt my heart.

Yo lexx can you call his mom and see if its ok if we make a go fUnd me account for her.. you can run it and make sure she gets every penny... the least we can do for shane is make sure his moms is str8 since he had no kids.. if we all put 5-20 bucks down that can help her and honor shane..

Thats why Men in general have to make sure everything is in check. I dont like going to the Doctor, dentist etc...but i understand that they have the equipment that i need to find out whats wrong with me or to check and see if everything is working properly.
Im still curious though...
Did Shane not take his warning seriously? Or was his condition just getting worse?
Regardless, his death made me reflect on some things....
I think we as Men in general need to value life more. Stop thinking we're too tough to be defeated. Stop being so stubborn (<--im telling this to myself). I know a lot of Men that didnt feel like life was worth living until they started acquiring superficial shit...like women, money, cars etc. Life is much deeper than that......gotta take it more seriously.

If anything positive can come from this is that all of us make sure that we get checked up regularly. You never know, the earlier you find something, the more likely it can be prevented. I rarely get ill and I hate going to the doctors but I won't be arrogant enough to believe that I'm completely in the clear. I implore everyone to make sure they get a check up, especially us black men. We're under enough stress already from the moment we are born. 36 is way too young for a man in the western world to pass away.
