Mr. Brooks is one of my absolute favorites. Classic movie hands fucking down. But tell me this track here wasn't perfect. I found this song after I saw the movie

A Perfect Getaway (2009). Don't watch a trailer, just see the movie. I really enjoyed this movie. in 2009 I was living across the street from the dollar movie theater so I saw almost everything that came out between 2007 and January 2010.

This movie and mr. Brooks were two of my favorites

man there's some CLASSICS posted in this thread..loved clerks..Kevin Smith and everything thing after it in the 90s

here's some of mine

I loved Lucky number slevin. When I saw Dorian missick, I was saying, I like this dude as an actor. Mykelti Williamson was also interesting in his role, doesn't get the respect he deserves as an actor

A month ago, I had never heard of Richard Pryor's Jo Jo Dancer, Your Life Is Calling.

I watched it after the interview quoted below and I think it stands up better than anything he ever produced.

"It's really about a metaphorical bottoming out that I have a deep relationship to based on my own life which is why it felt sort of not too far fetched and a little more akin to an All That Jazz or Richard Pryor's Jo Jo Dancer, Your Life Is Calling, which is a hit nobody really watches."

Has anybody seen both this and the Pryor movie? Thoughts?

Thanks.What's a good movie?

Good movie or a classic? These are not the same.

Natasha Lyonne described Jo Jo Dancer, Your Life Is Calling as "a hit nobody really watches," which is what I think you're looking for here.

A lot of what is being named here-- Half Baked, Clerks-- they're the literal definition of cult classic. Fight Club is simply considered a classic, no cult about it. Jo Jo Dancer is a movie I'd literally never heard discussed, which is crazy considering many people consider Richard Pryor "the GOAT" comedian. And then it was better than his stand-up, IMO, which makes it's forgottenness even crazier.

I'm no movie buff so that's the only contribution I have now. I'll add if others occur to me.

Even I slept on this movie and thought it was gonna be trash... I literally watched this by accident 1 night...the intro got me hooked and I ended watching the whole thing... Like this movie way more than I prob should cause those characters remind me of many individuals I met in bizz... Not as hardcore but still similar

Another favorite of mine. Silver bullet was masterful at not really showing the werewolf a whole lot and utilizing the art of horror, kind of like the way Jaws did the shark.

It's a man in a suit, and a fake shark. If you give them too much camera time they will look exactly like they are. However, if you use camera tricks, you will terrify the audience

Won tickets to the advanced screening back in the day. Called pops and asked if he wanted to come along. He was initially hesitant, and is a tough sell with most movies. Sometimes he'll love a movie, and other times the complete opposite. Most movies he scores a 6 - 7 out of 10. The screening was packed. Everyone was into it. Pops was fairly quiet. Asked him afterward and he said it was a 9/10 in his opinion. He loved it, haha! When the sequel came along ... won tickets for that one as well - asked him if he wanted to tag along - "Hell yeah" was his response. Loved it too. You know a movie's good when he's telling other 60 - 70-somethings about it weeks after the fact.

Agreed re: Silver Bullet. One of my VHS faves growing up. Re-recorded it via DVR recently. Aired on A&E or AMC. Something like that. Rest in peace, Corey Haim. As for Jaws ... an all-time classic. Scared so many people out of the ocean, haha. Watched it a number of times back in the day, and DVR'd the franchise earlier this summer when it was on TV. Skimmed over the sequels as they aren't too good. The original still holds up. Went to see it on the big screen a few years back. They were airing remastered versions of some classics, and Jaws was one of the choices. Had free tickets - crowd was great. People were quoting lines/dialogue out loud & laughing during it.

Written by Tarantino I thought this was a dope movie. Post your obscure films that are classics but not talked about a lot.

Bonus: I always loved this movie too...

Possibly one of the greatest ensemble movies...too many stars to name. I didn't originally see this movie for a few years...cuz I thought it was a chick flick...
Ive prolly seen this movie easily 50 times... top of my list.

I figured out, before I heard Tarantino confirm it, that some of his movies are related. In Reservoir Dogs, they mention Patricia Arquette's character from True Romance, and Travolta from Pulp Fiction is related to Michael Madsen's character from Res. Dogs.

Longest/best BMW commercial ever...not gonna spoil the chase scenes..

Ronin is a super classic! I can watch it anytime it's on.

I always thought the contents of the briefcase in Ronin looked just like the contents of the case in Pulp Fiction.

I hated Tuskegee Airmen movie! I didn't think the story needed the love story...unless there was a compelling one from one of the real Airmen..also wasn't a fan of Cuba's portrayal of a Macarthur-like officer.

Some more faves...

Things to do in Denver when you're Dead...another good ensemble casts with Walken and Andy Garcia.

The Replacement Killers...

Glengarry Glen Ross... adaptation of a David Mamet play...another great cast and the best sales speech in history, by Alec Baldwin...I could watch that speech everyday.

Boiler Room...another movie I've seen dozens of times...

I could go on..
