Deputy Ben Fields was caught on camera at Spring Valley High School in Columbia ordering a student out of her seat. The imposing officer, who is a powerlifter in his free time, stands over her desk and tells the student, "either you're coming with me or I'll make you." Without giving her time to get up, he grabs her and flips her over, slamming her, and her desk, onto the ground.
The veteran officer then drags her out of her chair and tossed her across the room, as students watched speechlessly. The deputy pinned the senior student down as he puts her hands behind her back. He tells another student, "I'll put you in jail next."
The female student was not injured and was later released to her parents, cops said.
Students said the officer has had a history of roughing up students.
Fields is listed on the Richland County sheriff's department's website as a senior deputy assigned to Spring Valley High School. On his now-deleted Twitter page, he described himself as football coach for the school's defensive line, and a strength coach.
Richland County sheriff Leon Lott said he'd seen the video and was very disturbed. Lt. Curtis Wilson said the deputy was removed from the school and placed on administrative duty while investigators look into the attack. He said school resource officers are always held to a higher standard of investigation because they're meant to protect students.

Calling the police on a student a girl is crazy. The response was to much. We need to have better alternatives. It's almost like now if you call the police on a domestic dispute with a friend or a family member with mental health issues. You may run the risk of police killing them.
I have many friends who are teachers and they never have called the police on a child. Policing schools is becoming a problem

It may got little out of hand but it all could have been avoided if the girl had complied with the teacher who asked her to leave, the principal who asked her to leave, and the officer who initially asked her to leave. They have to make an example out of unruly kids who disrupt the classroom. Otherwise that teacher's classroom and school will never have discipline.
I guarantee that girl has various discipline referrals that can fill a notebook. It is rare that a a kid will act this way out of the blue without a history of acting out. People always complain about public schools, but this is a display of why public schools cannot compete with private schools. In a private school she would have been kicked out a long time ago. However in public schools anything goes, and a disruptive child is allowed to disrupt the learning for everyone else because they cant listen. This is the reason why alot of people make sure that their kids are in honor classes when they are in high school because kids like this girl stay out of those classes.
