Playstation 4 to be unveiled tomorrow 2-20-13!

Thinking about buying a PS3 this weekend. Should I just wait for 4 or just cop now???? the bundle im looking at has a year of PlayStation Plus and comes with Assassins Creed 3. yay or nay?

Why does the design matter?.. A polished turd is still a turd at the end of the day..

I don't give a fuck about some CGI trailers and social media bullshit and blu-ray and shit, I wanna see the damn gameplay.

I know the shit ain't gone look like these PCs with all these suped up mods and shit.

I just want a respectable looking alternative to PC Gaming for a decent price because some people ain't trying to spend a couple Gs on a PC set-up.

I don't even be playing video games like that to be spending all that time and money setting that shit up and then only play that shit for like a hour a day a couple days out the week.

A respectable graphics upgrade is all I want. I know it ain't gone touch the PC, but I want it to at least be in the ball park, like a 2007 PC or something. And if ain't that, I ain't gone buy it. I'll invest in a Gaming PC before I buy the muthafucka just because they put it out there.

If you waited this long, you might as well wait for the price drop coming in a few months..

That is 8gb shared memory, so that will be used for the system and the graphics. Being pooled offers more flexibility and less latency, but it's not really exceeding common gaming PC's in total memory. From what I have heard 1-2gb is going to be reserved for the OS.

I am fairly happy with their tech decisions though, using almost off the self PC GPU and standard x86 cores might mean more good games on PC.

If no more than 2 gb is reserved for the OS, then that would give the ps4 the exact same graphics power as the current top of the line pc gpu.

I was never really concerned with the graphics capabilities of the ps4 or even the ps3 for that matter. Despite everyone's thirst for more realistic looking games, you have to remember a few things:
1. Historically, console programmers usually max out the cpu and system ram before ever reaching the full limit of the gpu.
2. It's been estimated that 5,000 teraflops is required to make a game look "real". (ps4 doesn't even have 2 teraflops)
3. It doesn't matter what the hardware specs are, you can only get out what the developers put in.

Graphics specs on ps4:
8gb of gddr5= twice the ram of most pc gpu's at about 4 times the speed.
The top of the line pc graphics card you can get right now is $1000 and is about 25% LESS powerful than what the PS4 is bringing.

That being said, graphic capability isn't going to be the issue. I would be more concerned with how detailed the graphics are going to be on the game developers' end.

No.

You have to remember that the memory is shared. So to say that it has twice the ram of a PC's graphics card is highly misleading. And countless stories have said that power wise, it's about as powerful as a current mid-range PC card, the 7850.

With the processor cores being a wildcard currently (it's not Jaguar, unless they are putting two of those cores on one die) it's safe to say it's about as powerful as a mid range computer today.

Matters to me! I can't fix my mind to buy something that I've never seen. How does it look in my entertainment center next to everything else? is it black or white? Grey?:puke:

Not showing it is akin to me telling you I have fast sports car coming out that I want you to buy, and when you ask me what it looks like I tell you, "don't worry about it! It drives!":hmm:

My biggest concern is the fact that games will release on the PS3 and PS4 at the same time. I need to know what will make the next gen games more spectacular than what we have now. Graphics alone won't cut it right now because current gen still looks great.

bruh after about 6 months...they will stop releasing games for the PS3....

Depending on the sales. But I have a shitload of games I never finished so I could use the new release break. This console war will be interesting to watch though.

And even that gpu will still NOT allow the PS4 to surpass PC level graphics!!! Crysis on PC from 6 years ago looks better than any real PS4 gameplay they showed. They put super powered GFX cards in consoles to make up for lack of RAM and processing power. The original XBOX had a custom Nvidia GFX card in it that was more powerful than any PC GFX card at the time. And still PC shitted on XBOX graphics! No console will EVER beat PC level graphics...unless you plan on buying a $1000 game console in the next gen's next Gen.

This!!! I want better games! Not more sequels...more rehashes of the same shit we been playing the past decade. New intellectual properties! New styles of gameplay. Genre hybrids. Better stories. Graphics are good to have but if the game is lackluster or the same old shit I will get bored quickly. And with console developers being afraid to take chances and try something different I see nothing good forthcoming. Sony and Microsoft have one true way to beat the other out this Gen and only one way...

EMBRACE INDIE GAME DEVELOPERS!

These are the people making the best and most original games right now. Sadly these small groups of dedicated game makers tend to have little if any budget to work with beyond the money they spend to buy or create their game's framework. On PC there are hundreds of great indie games worth the time and fair price to check out. Some reach success on a grander level like Day Z, Chivalry, Natural Selection 2, and Minecraft. But it costs so much to take their game to consoles. Many indies can't afford the console Dev Kit and licensing plus taking the risk of failing to sell game copies afterwards. But if Sony or Microsoft embraced them and made it cheaper or easier to put their games out on console as well....we all win! Consoles get more variety in games at better prices. Indie devs grow and become full blown game developers with budgets. Console gamers get more choices to choose from as well as developers who were once gamers and are sentimental to the needs of hardcore and casual gamers...unlike that dude who runs Activision.

the ps4 is going to be the same shit but in hd. They might release some ps3 games the same time but that will be only to sucker in people for some last minute sales before they release the good ps4 exclusive games

When it comes to porting to the PC the hardware plays a part to an extent. Porting from something like the PS3 or xbox to the PC is a lot of work since the architectures are so different, which resulted in lots of shitty ports.

Since they have to meet certain quality control standard for consoles and they are developing for the same architecture a lot of the optimizations should transfer over to PC ports.

If you think back to the first xbox days PC ports weren't that bad compared now. The only major complaint then was that the graphics were lacking from targeting a lower powered system.

In news that should keep parties going until the early morning at Gamestops everywhere, Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida tells Eurogamer that used games will still play on the PlayStation 4. Despite some issues with the translation, he stated clearly that "used games can play on a PS4." That appears to clearly put the issue to bed, despite rumors or patent misinterpretations passed around the internet recently. Now, we wait for our own chance to ask a few questions of Sony about its upcoming console like "what does it look like?", and the competition over at Microsoft goes on the hot seat with secondhand-loving gamers.

Fuck all da arguing niggas in here are doin', when it drops, I'll get da shit w/o thinking twice or no regrets as I have since da first Playstation.

Awesome.. You're a brainless sheep, who gets spoon fed and brain washed into buying shit there's no current need for.. What else is new?..

I know...and by now you all should know better...than to run out and buy shit like this on day 1. I don't buy anything hardware or OS on release. it's just not smart. 6 months down the road when they get all the bugs worked out then we can talk about buying. I don't need a be one of the first to "get it" anymore. Getting burned by a status symbol...fuck that!

Oh, I ain't gotta have it on da first day. I'on care too much about that. I can wait da lil' six months. Makes no difference to me. All I'm sayin' is that it will be getting purchased. :dunno:

All this talk about graphics and the best selling console the wii had the worst graphics of all...takes more then graphics to make people spend their money

But it had a gimmick.. And a HUGE catalog of classic First Party titles you can't get anywhere else.. Very poor comparison..

Graphics are the selling point for Hardcore consoles.. That's never been the case for Nintendo, and it's "casual" approach to gaming..

WTF do you expect to see different? Sports games like Madden won't improve even on next gen because they don't have to. EA already knows the usual fanboy is just gonna buy it based on namebrand alone.

:lol::lol::lol:

I like the new design controller. Definitely want to see the console. So far graphics looks like a decent built PC built. But consoles ain't fucking with PCs.

you serious? the graphics dont look bad they're beta right now.:hmm:

wasn't just a gimmick it was innovation and good marketing. ....nintendo went after the crowd that doesnt just hack the console and play pirated games....like yourself

console gamers dont expect $2000 gaming pc graphics on a $300 console cuz its common sense thats not what you're going to get.....

and look wise the first games to come out on a next gen console are never a huge leap from the last console. ..I wasn't blown away going from ps to ps2 or ps2 to ps3....its the games that came later that showed what the system could do

It was a gimmick... Just like their new tablet controller is a gimmick.. The only reason Nintendo is still around is because of their first party IP's, and anyone with half a brain knows it..

Nintendo didn't go after the hack market?.. The Wii was by far the easiest to hack and play backups on. All you needed was a USB key.. My grandmother could hack a Wii..

And there is always a noticeable leap between consoles. The jump from PSOne to PS2 wowed me, the jump from SNES to N64 wowed me. If technology hasn't advanced enough that they can push out 2007 PC graphics (cheaply), they should wait a few years. That's all I'm saying.

u aint right too often but u've been on point most of this thread
PS4 is gonna fail if they dont find a way to copy what made the Wii a success cause adults that wanna do more than play the newest mario or madden aint gonna care about this new shit
early adopters an people who buy off the strength of a brand aint gonna cut it

Nintendo had 1st party "classics" with the Gamecube  Doesnt seem to be helping the Wii U

Wii had the top spot with a low spec console cuz it was innovative..

You're talking about technology and graphics when Sony hasnt even really shown anything

like i said you were going to be negative whatever they came out with....hell why dont you just buy a gaming computer

It's not helping the Wii-U because they haven't dropped any of their Big IP games yet, dumb shit.. Zelda hasn't dropped, Mario hasn't dropped, Metroid hasn't dropped, etc..

Wii had the top spot with a low spec console because they have great first party exclusives, they appeal to the casual gamer, and the console was cheap compared to the other 2 on the market.

If "Mario Wii-U" or "Zelda Wii-U" drops the same day as PS4 and they bundle it with the console, the Wii-U will outsell the PS4.

You're not making a point homes.. There isn't shit innovative about what they've announced for the PS4, and the horsepower is only getting a minor upgrade. There is no reason for me to go out and get a PS4 to play NBA 2K14, GTA5, or Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 this Christmas... My PS3 can handle it just fine.

We'll just disagree....and they didn't announced anything for the PS4 they showed a controller and some beta demos...if your PS3 can handle it then u have no worries...you keep playing that and us sheep will be on the ps4...nice
