Playstation 4 to be unveiled tomorrow 2-20-13!

In news that should keep parties going until the early morning at Gamestops everywhere, Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida tells Eurogamer that used games will still play on the PlayStation 4. Despite some issues with the translation, he stated clearly that "used games can play on a PS4." That appears to clearly put the issue to bed, despite rumors or patent misinterpretations passed around the internet recently. Now, we wait for our own chance to ask a few questions of Sony about its upcoming console like "what does it look like?", and the competition over at Microsoft goes on the hot seat with secondhand-loving gamers.

-Eurogamer

good now if Microsoft announces the same(Next Xbox being backwards compatible) then everyone will stop worrying..

I said that shit and dam near EVERYONE in that thread disagreed with me.

I was right.

Fuck a PS4, there is no need right now.

The CONSOLE gaming industry wants your cash repeatedly. It's not enough any more to get it once or twice they want it annually. For the same games that you already "own".
Fixed. Steam is awesome on PC.

It's not helping the Wii-U because they haven't dropped any of their Big IP games yet, dumb shit.. Zelda hasn't dropped, Mario hasn't dropped, Metroid hasn't dropped, etc..

Wii had the top spot with a low spec console because they have great first party exclusives, they appeal to the casual gamer, and the console was cheap compared to the other 2 on the market.

If "Mario Wii-U" or "Zelda Wii-U" drops the same day as PS4 and they bundle it with the console, the Wii-U will outsell the PS4.

You're not making a point homes.. There isn't shit innovative about what they've announced for the PS4, and the horsepower is only getting a minor upgrade. There is no reason for me to go out and get a PS4 to play NBA 2K14, GTA5, or Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 this Christmas... My PS3 can handle it just fine.
Or course there's no reason to buy a PS4 if you're trying to play those particular games. They'll all be released on PS3 as well. Whenever a game is developed for last and next-gen are you really expecting to see some advanced shit? No. And on top of that you just touched on my argument. Where the fuck are the NEW I.P.s? Next gen gaming...with the same old sequels to games we been playing over a decade. I want some really new shit!

We'll just disagree....and they didn't announced anything for the PS4 they showed a controller and some beta demos...if your PS3 can handle it then u have no worries...you keep playing that and us sheep will be on the ps4...nice

If they had any tricks up their sleeves, or new innovations, they would have announced them.. Looks like the new controller, and the new UI are the extent of their "tricks"..

This shit is looking like PS3 all over again IMO.. We'll have to wait probably 2 years into the cycle to get any games worth a damn..

I googled ps4 pre order ...they trippin already, with no price info

Report: PSN Games & Other PS3 Data Won't Transfer To PS4
LINK- http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/...nd-other-data-won_2700_t-transfer-to-ps4.aspx
:lol::lol::lol:
Last night Sony revealed that PlayStation 3 games won't be compatible with the PlayStation 4, and now comes news that neither will your existing PSN titles.

Engadget has spoken to Shuhei Yoshida, Sony's Worldwide Studios president, who told them that neither PSN nor PS3 game saves will be able to make the jump to the new console.

During the press conference, Gaikai's David Perry said that it and Sony would like to bring multiple generations of PlayStation games to the PS4 via the cloud at some point during the PS4's lifecycle.

Hold up yo.... PSN titles I purchased wont be compatible either?.. Fuck that... :smh:

So all I'll be able to play on PS4 are games that are dropping for PS3 as well, and PSN games that I re-purchase?.. Sony ain't learn shit man...

Sony Clarifies PS4 Games' Price Point

http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/02/22/sony-clarifies-ps4-games-price-point

by Anthony Gallegos FEBRUARY 22, 2013

Speaking with CNBC, SCEA President and CEO Jack Tretton clarified the price we can expect to pay for PS4 titles. The system will support free-to-play games, and Sony, "will offer games with prices ranging from $0.99 to the more traditional $60 range with the ability for players to sample games before they buy."

Tretton also talked a bit about how Sony didn't actually show what the hardware itself looked like. "I can promise you that it will be plastic, it won't be triangle shaped or round. You'll see the box in due time."

What the PlayStation 4 Can Play

http://www.ign.com/wikis/playstation-4/What_the_PlayStation_4_Can_Play

With so much information being thrown around for the PlayStation 4, sometimes it can be a little confusing. Here's a definitive guide (as of right now) for what the PlayStation 4 can and cannot do.

Sony does say that there could be a possibility for the PS4 to have the ability to emulate previous games, all the way back to the PSone era, but have stated that they haven't finalized plans on emulation.

so apparently Sony Japan's CEO was lying through his teeth when he said you WILL be able to play used games on the PS4.. :smh:

You will be able to play used PS4 games. Not PS3 games. I see people complaining about not being able to play PS3 games on the PS4. What do you all plan on doing. Selling your PS3s?

Yall must've had a tough time when those NES cartridges didn't fit into the SNES. But in all seriousness. Because they are going away from the cell processor. It would be too costly to have a backwards compatible system.

That was the reason the original PS3 cost so much because they included the emotion engine with the 40gb & 60gb. Was the 360 backwards compatible? I can't remember. If the new Xbox is backwards compatible then they will have a leg up because you'll still be able to play 360 games on the new system.

I think cost is a major factor in limiting backwards compatibility. I own a 60gb PS3 & haven't played a PS2 or PSone game since PS3 came out. Once I get a PS4 other than GTAV, I doubt I'll be playing my PS3 much.

Niggas still spewing the same retarded nonsense.. This is a totally different era.. There is no reason a PS3 disc shouldn't play in a PS4. Both consoles use the same fucking format BLU-RAY..

There were physical AND technological reasons why NES games didn't play on SNES. The only reason PS3 games won't play on PS4 is an economical reason... GREED.

I think the Atari 7800 could play both 2600 and 5200 games lol not sure
**edit just looked it up , it could play 2600 games but no 5200 games
That's just like if the Nintendo 64 could play nes games but no snes games

With that logic the 360 should be able to play PS2 games because the both use CD drives. Your spewing nonsense. Each game is built for each different system. Which is why Xbox games were incompatible with a PS2.

I stated in my previous post that the PS2 used the Emotion Engine & the PS3 used the Cell. Totally different hardware. I think the PS4 uses a custom PC card. Sony or Microsoft would need to build each engine into their system to play each generations games.

I wish the systems were backwards compatible. But I think logically & I know it would force the company to charge more for the system then is necessary. With as many PS3s & 360s that are out there I don't see a real need for backwards capability.

Now the fact that my downloaded games on my PS3 won't be usable on the PS4 is shitty because I do believe that's something that should be possible out of box. Either that or allow me to download that are on my PSN account games free. But that'll never happen.

This "unveiling" was a disgrace and was seemingly nothing more than to test the stupidity of blind consumerism. Cats are eagerly saying how they will purchase a machine in which they have no solid details, pricing, specs, or visuals on. Hilarious.

man they just lost a loyal customer.

I got too many damn ps3 games to just give up on. FOH

I'm just going to stay with my pc until sony makes it worth my time.

i'm lookin forward in the PS4..but i might wait to see how people like it..:yes:

but i want to play that game Watch Dogs that's coming for the PS4..:yes:

Totally different architecture.. Of course not.. But you're not going to sell me on the fact it costs Sony much to make their own architecture work for PS3 Blu-Ray's on the PS4... A cell processor doesn't have shit to do with it..

The BluRay drive doesn't have SHIT to do with it.
PS3= cell processor
PS4= x86 processor

A game on a PS3 disc is coded to ONLY run on a PS3 Cell processor.
A PS3 downloaded game is coded to only work on a PS3 Cell processor.

In order for a game coded for a cell processor to run on an PS4 x86 processor, it has to be recoded. This means all of the data on the disc has to basically be translated into a different computer language. Manually. It's not the same as making it from scratch, but it ain't no weekend project either.

The only reason the first PS3's were backwards compatible was that they had 2 different processors, 1 for PS3 and 1 for PS2.

So why don't they just put both processors in the PS4?
1. It costs too much. Sure the Cell is only about $50 but about half of the PS3 motherboard has to go in there with it, along with a bigger power supply and a big ass fan to cool it.
God forbid you want it to play PS2 games.
2. Remember, Sony sells every new console's 1st gen at a loss and counts on licensing fees to make their money until the manufacturing costs come down.
3. None of the new PS4 features would work when playing PS3 games.
4. Remember how a lot of the first PS2 games were actually cd instead of dvd? Cheap developers would pull the same bullshit again, selling PS3 games as if they were PS4 just because they would run on the machine. It's legal and costs the developer less to license PS3 games that it would for the PS4 game.

How the fuck in 2013-2014 we at a point where we can't play PS3 games on PS4? That's some of the silliest shit. And this is when you need the shit now more than ever. Next gen consoles(Ps3,360) graphics got good enough to where their games can stand the test of time as opposed to ps one or ps 2 games. Now you want to stop allowing your customers to play these games on your console?

Two questions for the cry baby ass bitches:

Did Sony threaten you or your family with bodily harm if you dont purchase their system?

Does your PS3 magically disappear the exact second you purchase the PS4?

Niggas in here arguin' like straight hoes over gaming consoles & it's mostly Rick Spanish/nathan704/Manhattan w/his bitch ass.

That's subjective as hell and I really hate when PC users do that. You can be just as competitive with an XBOX 360 controller used in PC games. The sensitivity settings are all that need to be tweaked. Programs like X-Padder can help with that. Everybody doesn't like using that clunky mouse/keyboard setup.

lol....

That processor incompatibility myth has to be the biggest lie in recent gaming industry history.. It's just another excuse to resell you your "emulated" games later on.. :smh:

Appreciate the help getting this point across. But I feel nothing that gets posted will change the minds of those that think its cheap to have both processors in one system.

For those who want to play psone, ps2, & ps3 games I have a 60 gig for sale.
