It became an issue when games because as connected as they are today..
Who the fuck wants to switch consoles when they're playing friends online, just because we wanted to go back and play Black Ops 2, opposed to Black Ops 3?.. With it being such a small step between this gen and next, there is no reason there shouldn't be backwards compatibility, and the only reason there wont be is greed on Sony's part..

Casual gamers are what the market caters to now unfortunately. You see that with the constant dumbing down of long time great game series. Games for hardcore gamers seem to not do as well across the board as game catered to casuals. We saw that with a lot of great games last year that were still not selling CoD numbers. Sony does need to win back fans. They need to get back to the way they were when Playstation One was out. And the Apple-like device integration is also a good option. But still, Microsoft excels at this type of shit too and we still haven't seen what they will pull at E3.

You can upgrade PC graphics every few months....you can't just buy a better graphics card for a console....

Do this. Buy a PC without a monitor. Hook it up to your HDTV. Get Steam. Buy a XBOX 360 controller or PS3 controller w/ Motion2Joy software. Now you're playing PC games on your TV just like it was a console. And there you have it.. If you can't match a PC game with Max Settings from 2007 in the year 2013, it's time to go back to the drawing board.
We don't know how big the jump is yet.... in graphics... it might seem small because the graphics on xbox 360 and ps3 were that good... it wasn't going to be three times better ... now like ps1 to ps2 or to ps3 how much better can graphics get ?
That's subjective as hell and I really hate when PC users do that. You can be just as competitive with an XBOX 360 controller used in PC games. The sensitivity settings are all that need to be tweaked. Programs like X-Padder can help with that. Everybody doesn't like using that clunky mouse/keyboard setup.

The top of the line pc graphics card you can get right now is $1000 and is about 25% LESS powerful than what the PS4 is bringing.
That being said, graphic capability isn't going to be the issue. I would be more concerned with how detailed the graphics are going to be on the game developers' end.

Damn this makes Far Cry 3 on the PS3 look like a nes game.I thought the graphics looked pretty good. From what I could see. But truthfully we need more visuals and a final build before we can accurately assess the ps4. I'm interested in seeing how Sony handles media playback and organization. Regardless its an exciting time for platformers.

Question for PC fans. Are there any exclusive games that aren't a FPS that show off all this graphical superiority? If so can I see a video of the footage. If PC is the way to go.

That's a mod of a game originally built for consoles. I want to see an exclusive title that I can only play on a PC that's not an FPS with mind blowing graphics. Or a game that debuted on the PC & came to consoles after the initial release.

Nope, there is no graphical superiority on the part of the pc.
Furthermore, there's no way for you to compare the graphics.
Whether its the PS4 footage or a video of a pc game running on a high-end gpu, unless you're running at least 2 Geforce Titan gpu's in your pc, the video would end up "dumbed down" in order to show on your monitor.
Hell, you'd have to download the video anyway, because the info in the uncompressed stream is more than your internet bandwidth.
Guerilla probably pulling that okie-doke routine again like they did w/ KZ2(had everyone thinking that tech demo was actually in-game footage) and it seems to be the case here
That is 8gb shared memory, so that will be used for the system and the graphics. Being pooled offers more flexibility and less latency, but it's not really exceeding common gaming PC's in total memory. From what I have heard 1-2gb is going to be reserved for the OS.
I am fairly happy with their tech decisions though, using almost off the self PC GPU and standard x86 cores might mean more good games on PC.

The gaming industry wants your cash repeatedly. It's not enough any more to get it once or twice they want it annually. For the same games that you already "own".
yep kill backwards compatibility then resell you all the old games as digital copies.
I'm definitely not first day paying of or even thinking about first 6 month paying a new console. I didn't expect too much of a graphics leap, but eventually I'm assuming these new consoles will have a lot more dynamic environments and characters. Things like Red Faction's Geo-Mod and Real-Time Physics will be better and in more games simultaneously and then some. It'll probably take time to get that going though. I'm not going to rush to get a PS4 or 720 and will finally build on a PC for gaming first.
