PlayStation ® PS5

At this point, I don't understand why they won't just allow people to put a deposit in and get a unit when it becomes available. As long as you can cancel the order it probably wouldn't be a big deal to most people.
That would be much better than battling against bots.

Maybe. But with the PS5 not being avaliable to so many maybe not just quite yet.

Good point..

A few people I know have said that the lack of availability and/or financial issues is why they plan on sticking with their PS4 for at least another year.

But I noticed that the PS3's price didn't go into free fall once the PS4 was released.

I'm old enough to remember when outgoing consoles had extreme price drops, sub $100 even in some cases $50

Yup. Maybe a year at least.

If I don't get one on 11/22 from Best Buy or Black Friday, I'm done until next year when I can casually just buy one on a whim.

I think the closest I came was a couple days ago on Target.com at like 2 in the morning. I had hit the payment button and everything. It disappeared from my cart like the transaction went thru but I never got a confirmation or a charge.

Fuck Walmart. Fuck them bundles.

I wish I didn't get so invested in this shit before launch to be honest, tho.

I always wondered why no company does this
maybe they can get sued ?

open preorders let people place an order even if it says estimated delivery January

Are you just speaking on gaming companies? I agree it should be the norm unless you know you are only going to produce a limited supply.

I know when the original Mavic drone for DJI first came out DJI did exactly that. I can't recall if I was charged or not and you were not given a date, but you were allowed to order the Mavic and it was shipped to you based on when you ordered it.

Tesla may have done the same with the model 3, but I can't really speak to that given i didn't actually buy or order one. Plus Tesla clearly did this for other reasons.

Kohl's orders got cancelled.

I ordered a bundle off there, physical PS5, extra controller and Miles with Spider-man, came out to $691.

I got charged and everything. I ordered at like 1am, got the confirmation email at 3am, the order came with Kohl's store credit, I got the store credit worth $180 at like 9am, then a few minutes later they sent the cancellation email.

I knew that shit was too good to be true, that's why I didn't get too hyped. That shit stayed online for like an hour.

But I heard you get to keep the store credit, so $180 worth of free shit would be a great consolation prize. Might get some sneakers and some shit for the crib.
