Phil Jackson: Carmelo Anthony 'better off somewhere else'

All those stats and he has made it out the first round once his entire career.

Melo is one of my all time favorite players so no need to post these stats. I have and will Always respect Melo. No only does he have a great personality, despite all the BS he would always answer tough questions with class and dignity.

It is simply not working with Melo. He is never going to carry a team and make them better. Melo is a scorer and that is pretty much his skill set. He is about to be 33 years old soon. I agree with Phil, go finish your career winning a title. Go play for Washington or Boston. He'll go out west to the Clippers.

Dude, while I appreciate your reflection, you said and I quote, he has never won with any GM and he doesn't make his teams better. I just proved that EVERY team he has been with, has improved once he's gotten there, including the Knicks which discredits your entire initial position.

Your contention that it's not working with Melo, well I beg to differ. TEAM performance PROVES it WAS in the process of working with Melo, and the team improved GREATLY during his first 3 years, and fell off to lows worse than even before Melo got there once Phil showed up....

So, is it not working with Melo, or is it not working with Phil? The team nose dived when PHIL showed up, and improved when Melo showed up... The Nuggets were a MUCH better team once Melo showed up, so, Melo is NOT the problem Bruh, Phil is...

Those stats look good on paper but Melo only made it out the first round once his entire career.

Doesn't matter, your point was, he doesn't make teams better. He has improved EVERY TEAM he's been on. Making it out of the first round is not solely on ONE player. Is it the players job to scout and sign the right players, hire a coach who can implement a system to maximize the teams success and build chemistry? Is it the players job to not bring in over priced past their prime or hurt players who ALSO don't have the skillset to play in a system that the GM (Coach) refused to deviate from, while not having a clue on how to build AROUND the Star player who actually has improved the team and has to play the games?

The fact that the Knicks are 15 wins worse per season during Melos tenure there, with Phil than without Phil proves who the real problem is. Fact is, Melo improved this team tremendously, and gave them a great head start to continuing to grow and improve, and Dolan and Phil fucked that up... Not Melo... :hmm:

i still cant believe tmac went into the hall before cwebb

Damn Cwebb ain't in the hall?

C Web is suffering from a lesser case of Pete Rose-itis. Those CACs will delay his shit as long as they can, one because of this shit while he was at Michigan, and two, because of the cultural change the FAB 5 brought to basketball as a whole. I'm sure these CACs are still pissed every time they see a player not playing in shorts that look like panties even still...

In the minds of the CAC voters, that Michigan team doesn't exists, and they probably don't even account for his success there in their assessment, since those wins had to be vacated. He gave them a LOT of KY to fuck him with, and they are probably going to use the whole tube... :smh:

Don't forget the black sneakers/black socks combo that was banned in the NBA for a second.

If we don't know nothing else we know that

To be honest, any NBA Player who isn't is a damn fool (i.e. see how Riley treated D Wade). The players are millionaires, the owners are billionaires. Let their asses pay luxury tax and all that shit, why the fuck should the players who ultimately are making the owners more money, make sacrifices to 'win', when that championship doesn't bring them as much financial benefit as the owners. Look at LeBron for instance, the Cavs value has more than doubled because of him. He would be a damn fool to take play cuts so the damn owner can make even more money off of his labor... Fuck all that shit! :hmm:

Letting Wade go was the best decision Miami made

Lebron Wade all them dudes sacrificed money to win they didn't always make the very most they could make each season so they could have a team around them

I agree it should be all about the money first so I have no problem with the way Melo has moved in his career(which was always money first) he seems content with it so it is what it is

My point is, a player can ALWAYS have a good team around them if the owners are willing to sacrifice as much as every expect the players to. Owners don't want to play luxury tax, etc so its the players being forced to take pay cuts so in essence, its the players being taxed so the owners can save and by extension make more money. LeBron is a unique case, one of the most in sports history so he doesn't really fit in this equation, because he is LeBron, but for the second tier stars, its a big problem for me. Look at how unceremoniously kicked out of Miami Wade was. He sacrificed bread and shit for the betterment of the team, and then when he had no leverage because his career was on the decline Riley told him to go fuck himself, while theoretically, the reason Riley the GM is respected as Riley the GM, is because of Wades performance and sacrifice. No way he should have had to end his career on a different team... So thats why I say, do you, get yours. Thats a slave mentality in my opinion, sacrifice and take what Massa wants to give you so Massa can make the most money they can...

It shouldn't be a choice.
That's what these cac writer's have planted in our heads.
It shouldn't be you need to sacrifice money in order to win. The owners don't sacrifice anything. The owners can go over the luxury tax. The owners don't sacrifice ANYTHING.
The GM isn't taking a pay cut to give to the players. The GM isn't taking any shorts. The people directly responsible for the success are the ones who are expected to take LESS
no.

Would it make sense on ANY OTHER JOB for them to come and tell you, hey D we need you to take a paycut so that this company can win the company of the year award?

You'd be liable to either slap somebody in the face or laugh so hard you gotta take a 15 minute break to catch your breath.

I agree don't get me wrong

You want these players to take less so you don't have to pay the luxury tax nah that's weak

They saving you money while making you money and they taking less while doing the work on the court man nah fuck that lol

Shit under the old CBA nobody paid more luxury tax than Mark Cuban that is fact but when this new one hit he said fuck that and ruined his championship team under the guise he was chasing stars it wasn't really about that as much as he didn't want to pay role players and pay that type of tax for them as he had always done. Mavs were never stacked with stars but always had good players and that came with a cost.

Another example

Spurs always been able to get away with it cuz they had players who weren't chasing every red cent even their key players so it worked out for them the most in this generation

Riley is a snake piece of shit but Wade shouldn't have trusted him if he thought he was gonna get paid on the back end. Shit even Dirk got 25 million this season from Cuban for his services he said he coming back next year and got another 20+ million waiting on him

Dude, only 12 players in league history who have averaged more than him and only 5 of those players have won chips. There are a LOT of variables that are involved with the success of a team and one player being responsible to 'carry' a team and not considering all the other variables is not a very defined thought process. The success of a team starts up top and the play on the of the players is at the bottom of that list. That's why the Spurs are such a great organization, their front office finds players who can fit Pops system and the shit is run beautifully. You look at the Knicks and the trash they put around him and tell me again how that is his fault. Phil is even fucking with Porzingas' game now so it's not just Melo. Melo is a first ballot HOFer and has before being involved with this clusterfuck had team success. A low percentage of superstar and star players win chips so him not winning one does not make him overrated....

More than any other sport pro basketball is that one sport where one player can change the whole dynamic of the team. The Knicks situation has been a disaster for a while now so I won't put all the blame on him but he chose to got there. When you are a player who has his ability I would expect to see at least one Finals appearance. He has not even come close to that, not even a conference finals appearance. This is just my opinion and I know some will disagree but he is just overrated to me, he was real good that one year in college though.

I would like Kyrie to go to the Knicks. Play in the 'Big Apple', and get rewarded with the largest contract in NBA history. He's show-time, a blossoming defensive whiz, and arguably the most skilled player since Jordan. He deserves it.

& folks say wholesome ass Phil Jackson aint racist, man gtfoh!

Where's that "Is Phil Jackson Racist" Thread when you need it :giggle:

Sooo....

No matter who is put around him, what system is run, and regardless of the undermining of the GM and no support structure, Melo STILL should be able to get to a conference finals?

So, take a moment and explain how HE is to overcome:

A system that is not designed for a player with his skillset
Having an inconsistent Sophomore, Courtney Lee, and a damaged past his prime Derrick Rose as your point guard
Ron Baker as your second point guard
And Kyle O'Quinn and Hernangomez as your bigs?
And a coach who is not really allowed to coach?

Please, make your statement make sense... , Also, name any other player outside of LeBron who has accomplished what you claim Melo should, with the same Hand Melo has been dealt. Please

Also, FYI, he has made one conference finals, in the harder conference so that point is moot. :hmm:

How so playa?

All due respect, because the reason you give for him being 'overrate' (I still don't truly know what they are Bruh so if you can take a minute to break them down clearly that would be appreciated), have either been blown out of the water or completely disproved in this thread... :hmm:
