Pass or Smash? 40 year old chemical engineer

I'm going to emphasize that statement because we know most of these so called "Black men" TODAY are undisciplined. They chase pussy and they will do anything to conform to get pussy. They don't realize they are just hurting themselves long term, and they begin to get frustrated real quick because they are playing a role they really don't want to play to get some ass.

this is why I fucks with ya jd, you pull no punches on anyone..

100% true..

Most women conform because it takes an extremely strong person to be "different". Now we have the internet, it's easier to connect with others who share the same ideals. If you view things differently or have different perceptions than the "norm", you are often branded "weird" and/or "strange".

This branding happens in disproportionate amounts in the Black community. Like I said, in those other cultures, it's no problem being a gear head, geek, movie buff, in a band, or whatever non mainstream activity you're interested in.

ie realizing that you dont have it figured out and the person is not an extension of how hot or fly you are, but a man in their own right??

i can dig it.....

i got that statement confused with the girls who hustle dudes by playing the role and adapting to what they think he wants before flippin on him...

Totally! Being that brothas are not monolithic, it's virtually impossible to determine what to "pretend" to be. It's much easier to be who you are and accept if they like it not. Life is too short to be who others want you to be.

In other cultures, you'll find women in every sub culture of that culture. For example, you got those crakkka gear heads with their shops. They wear their Dickies and have their tattoos and what not. They also have their women to go along with them.

These Asian kats have their sub cultures. Like Anime and what not. They also have chicks in that genre with the same interests.

If you really think about it, Black culture really has no sub cultures or genres. It's mainstream or bust. Most Black dudes I know who don't share in mainstream Black culture have "other" chicks on their arm, and for the most part because they had no choice.

I knew something was wrong or a shift was occurring in college. I knew 3 brothas in bands. On played guitar, one bass, the other sang. In any other culture, this means instant pussy. Sistas weren't giving these brothas no time of the day. And before you broads roll up in here talkin' about "maybe they were ugly" or some shit, keep in mind, black bitches were throwing pussy at rick ross lookin' wannabe producers and (c)rap kats back then.

I've been lucky/fortunate so far in meeting "counter culture" Black women, but they are becoming scarce.
u in LA right? where do u find them at?
im a brotha that loves euro electronica,'golden era' hip hop, classical jazz, rock, and folk music. I'm a documentary buff that watches IFC, the sundance channel and Golden Girls reruns.
i dont like to play bones, spades, or basketball,
and you wont ever see me at a lil wayne, jayz, or trey songs show (ive been given free tix, and still didnt go).
i also like occasionly enjoy cruising down crenshaw or the sunset strip bumpin that west coast gangsta shit.

finding a black woman that is that eclectic in her tastes is damn near impossible.
and the ones that are only date whiteboys.
NY and the Bay were the only places i found them, but i dont live i either one of those cities.

This is a two way street though. This guy I was in a relationship with, had some friends come to visit. I suggested we go to a concert headlined by one of my favorite singers. She is not mainstream. His friends were taken aback, they all were looking like  , while I was :dance2: . He was embarrassed and subsequently we broke up.

so you ADMIT that most brothas arent monolithic?
you sure you're a sista?

Part of the thrill of receiving a gift is "unwrapping it" and "finding what is inside the box". The most exciting phase of a relationship(IMO) is finding out what someone is all about. She gave too much away too soon and possibly scared off a lot of potential guys with rhetoric, she may later regret. We are constantly changing and evolving and with the right man, she may have become more open minded and changed her stance on some issues. However, she messed up the possibility of meeting those guys, with all of that "goobly gook."

Cosign.

I live in the Valley here in L.A. You'll find them here, but not as many as you would in SF or NYC.

What singer was this?

One woman I was semi serious about in college was a big Tori Amos fan.

Man you sound like you want to denounce any ties to being a 'brother':hmm: Do you? Anyway I like Jazz and other music but I don't roll over my culture. There are lots of women out there who are professional, fine and smart. Go to conventions, get on match.com and the real dating sites and get off Blackpeoplemeet. Some of the women will commute to you to get that hotdog. Women say a lot of shit but they all want some dick so if your dick is the one they crave then you shall have it.:hmm:

You're missing the entire point of Lefty's argument. No one is taking away from a professional Black woman. Props to her if she's done well in life. But "cookie cutter" Black women are not what a lot of us are interested in.

Hahaha..... damn same here! And she was crazy as shit. :smh::lol:

My woman wasn't crazy, she was just "ecentric". Now unfortunatley, brothas will see a "different" Black woman and automatically assume she only dates crakkkas. She only dated brothas. She had this biker grunge anime look going on. Body on point, face a 9, but her eyes were jet Black so they reflected light like those anime characters. She always dressed in All Black, leather jacket, jeans, chains and biker boots. Kats used to be in the corner staring at her, talkin' about "yeah I'd hit, but she's weird mayne..."

I used to like to play "guess the city" with the broads I was interested in. So one day I was staring her down in class. I knew she wasn't from Frisco. So I looked at her, and said "You're either from New York or Chicago"

She started crackin' up, she was from Chicago.

After that, I was hittin' it like

interesting that what you got out of my post is im trying to 'denounce' ties to being a brotha. thats a damn shame. Culture?? even more of a damn shame that these stereotypes i posted, you see as our 'culture'. my point exactly brotha. these are just a few of my tastes yet they are seen as 'whiteboy shit' to alot of black american women (and men) of today. I've got a past that was filled with nothing but stereotypes. my mind transends beyond that shit. and what im talking about has nothing to do with getting pussy bruh. theres no challenge in that. it's having a likeminded woman in your circle that enjoys and respects everything about you, that you can have some amazing times with. thats the difference between you and me.

^^^^ This. But I ain't complaining, that's how I met my girl. She wasn't into most BS a lot females are into today. I think there some brothers who are intimidated by black women who (sad to say) speak 'well', have a good vocabulary and actually carry themselves with some dignity. I've seen it with my own eyes. My girl told me hardly any brothers approached her before I met her because they assumed she wasn't into black guys. They based this on her clothing, music taste and the fact she didn't apparently carry herself like a 'stereotypical' black girl.

But hey, I ain't complaining.

She's in my AVI.

Meow, Meow, Meow, Meow, JOI!!!!!
Copycat, copycat, copycat, get your own shit, JOI!!!

thats my girl!

Big Gipps exwife..
saw her perform with Fishbone wearing nothing but a fur 2 piece bikini.
i love that chick. shoulda been a star, but you know how they do black female rock singers. :smh:

Yup! She is one of my absolute faves. She gives a hell of a show.

So you're boyfriend was embarrassed that you liked Joi and wouldn't go to a concert to see her with you? You know, I thought you were going to say Marlyn Manson or some shit like that. I wouldn't think twice about going to a Joi concert, now getting me to go to a jill scott or erykah badu concert is a different story,

"My ideal match would have experience in long term committed relationships"

This line is confusing the hell outta me. She wants someone with experience in long term committed relationships .... well if they are experience in "committed" relationships wouldn't that mean they are still in a relationship since committed? "Experienced", so that means she wants guys who are mostly in and out of relationships. I'll pass, yes, that means smashing too.

He went to the concert. He was embarrassed because I was jamming to her. And he was embarrassed that he took his friends to her concert, when they wanted to experience an "Atlanta" night. He thought it was going to be a soul concert. They were looking at him crazy, like, "what did you bring us to".

Ummm, I'm going to have to ride hard for my girl Erykah. She's on my top five.

somebody needs to log into match.com and send her this link.
also send it to the schools she graduated from,
so they can revoke her degrees for being a dumbass.

I'm not going to say what you said here was just untrue it's not. But Are YOU open minded to different types of black women as well? To say this my husband met me in a place i was reading comic books on my break. He approached me and spoke to me we argued about the comics. In his discovery process he learned i loved all types of music, name that tune is a specialty of mine. I have more than a passing familiarity with many different artforms, i painted, i danced ballroom, swing, tap, waltz, tango, rumba, mambo, and tap. I've loved comic books since i was a kid. Anime, manga. Korean art house. I spoke fluent japanese, AND i can play spades, i do hair, nails, bid whist, i can shoot pool, 9 ball, I love to cook, and blah blah.

All that to say...i'm eclectic. My interests are varied. And he met me in 1 of the least likely places.

But the point is he was OPEN to it. He didn't judge me based on where i was. He didn't judge me based on occupation.

One of the ODDEST things to me is how often WE as a people judge each other and say how different we are? But won't accept OTHERS differences. And won't accept others varied ideas and interests.

For all you know Mr. Lefty the girl of your dreams could've drifted right under your nose at Barnes N Noble. The Library, but you judged her because she was reading a Cosmo. Or you judged her because she was wearing blond hair.

Keep a clear eye and an open mind brother. She's out there for ya.

Man i JUST was saying this to Mr. Left. lol. Dudes do it to.

Arishem the Judge.

Don't judge this dude. He's just different. He did say he listens to old school hip hop.

Not neccasarily. Sometimes relationships just run their course. And you can be in 1 for 7 years and then break up. It didn't have to be a BAD break. It could've been mutual. So he's experienced with long term relationships. And he MAY have been committed to his ex, but things just fell apart.

Do you travel? LA women seem to be the most superficial to me. In general. When i was there and the ones i've met from there....just not cool.

Maybe a smaller town type?
