Palm Pre Owners Step This Way

I have to say the new updates announced have made me excited about my phone again, and the apps in the catalog are not only more plentiful but are getting better too. check out
http://projectappetite.com/
to browse them and send to your phone from pc.
I think the homebrew community pushed palm to improve this phone! and they had enough sense to not try to block them out

man wifi tethering is the shit

i like my pre, ill like it a helluva lot more when 1.4 comes out

posting from a hotel right now

man I got mytether to work one fucking time using the usb tether, after an hour of playing with it, never worked again, whats the secret?

I wifi mine and havent had any problems..... ive been almost every where and was on my laptop with a problem, shit helpful when im out of town sitting @ the hotel

havnt used the usb yet

man i couldnt get usb tethering to work at all with my macbook pro using osx- was going to try it in win7 on the macbook but then i just used wifi tetherring
wifi tethering worked easy so i just went with it
couldnt get bluetooth tethering to work either

its kinda wack to disable the camera to use wifi (the patch disables it and removing the patch enables it) especially when restarting takes so fuckin long

overall id say im kinda happy and kinda disappointed with the pre traveling
fuckin charger cover came off - went back in but that is cheap as fuck
phone has a chip in the case dont know how that got there
power consumption is stuuuuuuuuuuuuupid
turnin the shit off and on 10 times and messaging for about 1 hour, 20 minutes of talking killed the battery - if it werent for electrical outlets near the gate id be without a phone before i got to my car
waiting 3-5 minutes for the phone to start is unacceptable

^^^ You know divine was just waiting to see a comment like that being made to add to one of his pro-iPhone threads/rants
divine is aiight by me - im pissed about some of that shit though just like id be pissed if i had att with my iphone

last update my pre would restart fast now its slow again what gives?

if that hero is nice i may switch

Something was fucked up in the 1.3.5 update that was screwing with my wifi and battery life. I started draining around 17%per hour while not doing anything so I had to turn wifi off and it went back to normal. 1.4 is supposed to be real sweet next month so hopefully they will fix this wifi issue.

yeah man shit is worse than it was before
this is unacceptable - still fuckin up power consumption this late in the game?

I just copped one of those Palm Pre Touchstone Chargers and am very happy with it. You can use all of the functions of the phone while its charging. It helps the heat situation. You know how hot the phone gets. The only downside is that you have to be by a power source.

Gameloft has really been rocking the Plugin Development Kit (aka the PDK), which allows for native, graphically-rich gaming apps. On top of Asphalt 5, Brain Challenge, Oregon Trail, and my personal favorite, Let's Golf, they've just added Assassin's Creed - Altaïr's Chronicles to the official App Catalog. It's $6.99 and will hopefully satisfy any latent tendencies towards violence you may have stored up after reading one too many iTablet rumors this weekend.

Palm Pixi and Pixi Plus owners: the above is one of the reasons we're able to handle what would otherwise be insane jealousy over your thin and tiny form factors: the Pixi just doesn't have the horsepower to run Assassin's Creed, so you won't see it available.

If you're into meeting people without stabbing them (we know there are a few of you out there), the Foursquare Beta got a rev in the Official App Catalog too (as Derek so kindly noted this morning), so go on and check in at your local cafe

I'm thinking about going back to the Pre.

A little over a week into using the Hero has left me a bit disappointed and underwhelmed. I don't know if its because of the hype of Android that I bought into, but I wasn't impressed with it at all. Calls are slow to come in, texts come in when they feel like it, it seems to be a universal issue with both of Sprints Android handsets.

The only thing that kicks ass about the Hero is the Sense UI. Being able to run multiple widgets and home screens is definately a nice feature to have. But everything else, I believe, the Pre does much better. Whereas the multi-touch features works smooth and seemlessly on the Pre, it tends to stutter and lag when you try and pinch zoom in or out on the Hero. Also, the transition from portrait to landscape mode either takes a few seconds to register, or doesn't work at all. Either way, it another features that the Pre does better.

I just really hate texting on the Pre, believe it or not, but the Heros virtual keyboard is alot easier to use than the Pre, and I have pretty big fingers.

Also with the flash coming, I think the Pre will have the best mobile web browser. Apple dick riders can read that line twice.

Why don't you wait for 2.1 to hit the hero before you dip out on the pre? I was about to get a pre but the keyboard is a turn off and I don't want another WM phone and I don't really care for phones without a hardware keyboard.

We finally got a real visual voicemail app

and it works great

its in appscoop

and the app is in its beta stage named youview

i fucking love it so far!!!!!!!!!

apps are still slow coming out and i see the prices are about the same
plus im irritated with sprint fucking with me.

the major apps i use arent coming out with Pre versions yet either. They probably will by the end of this year with verizon getting the pre plus but its irritating using the iphone web version of apps.

I mainly need
evernote
dropbox
remember the milk
lastpass

no rtm app at all and no word of one coming out for the pre but android and iphone have it
lastpass has a beta that is cool
evernote is on all platforms
this air rave bullshit they gave me free is not working well anymore
sprint is just losing advantages- right now im probably going to cancel the contract and keep service if i can get them too, if not fuck them

Makk, I feel what you're saying on that. My main grips are the annoying way that I have to type while on webpages due to the slider formfactor & the space bar either being non responsive or giving too many spaces between characters. The latter is a physical issue with the phone so that can be resolved. I love WebOS but damn I need a candybar formfactor. I will admit the HTC Supersonic that is supposed to drop this year has me really intrigued as well.

The PDK is coming out next month making it easier to port iphone and andriod apps

interesting

what i dont like is there is no way to edit fields where the characters go beyond the displayed area- only way to edit is to copy anad paste over it or to delete it to even see whats there

dont like no landscape email, no landscape typing unless u freak it sideways
battery life is dogshit
I like the Pre though and Im scared to get the nexusone - no tmobile spots have it.
Im really leaning toward an iphone 32gb. I like wifi tethering though.
Definitely killing the contract just to make sure I can walk early.

If Sprint comes out with a 4G Android phone then I will be ditching the Pre as well.

4g wont do shit for me when the airrave wont even keep my calls from dropping.

yooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

fuck sprint
im getting an iphone
some no-english speakin mexican told me they wont do any no contract accounts :hmm:
I told them i have my own phone I want to get a everything 450 plan- mufucka tried to force me to get a lg lotus and said any new account has to have a 24month agreement
wtf?
them niggas really think im a pay a etf for a acct with no phone provided?

gtfoh

Sprint's entire first line of telesales is nothing but Mexicans who arent native english speakers.

Spoke to a supervisor and what the other guy told me is bullshit but they also said I have to go in to a sprint store in person to open an account without a contract because of fraud issues theyve been having.

:hmm:

sellin my pre with a touchstone a new hardcase two unused clear covers for the touchscreen and Ill throw in some microfiber cloths for $200 on ebay

im gonna see if retentions will ende my contract and keep me on the service first though
fuckin douche bags

no haps- they wanted to give me a $5 a month credit starting next month and a 12month contract
gtfoh
now im more annoyed with their shitty customer service and the fact I have to cancel this bullshit, go get a new acct in store then activate this pre online
or just get an iphone/nexus

i may just get that nexus one but if i return it they will charge me $50 :(

Makk what do u think of the HTC Supersonic that is supposed to drop for Sprint this year? Specs are similar 2 the NexusOne in case you were wondering.
