Palm Pre Owners Step This Way

whats goin on fellas!!

Havent been on here in a while but I just started my first day of year 2 in med school....

We have our calendar on Blackboard and Im trying to sync it with my pre...

Ive tried syncing through facebook (the app on facebook sucks)
Tried to go via outlook and havent had any luck. Anyone have any ideas?

I also have the schedule in a word document. If that can help. Man I need to get this ish synced up

bruh get a google account -enable the calendar feature- make sure it is private or public as you wish-
go here http://gr33ndata.blogspot.com/2007/10/facebook-events-to-google-calendar.html
that blog post has instructions on syncing facebook with google calendars

If you can sync blackboard to outlook (besides being a bad lucky muthafucka) you can sync outlook to google calendars which is automatically set up to sync with the Pre via calendar
Ive used the outlook to google calendar function (3rd party app) and it works well - the facebook solution appears to be possibly buggy for some users -judging from the user comments on that page

I cant do shit with my fuckin blackboard calendar but look at it in bb  or print it to pdf- worthless - i can add events to google calendar via desktop faster by keyboard than processing all that bullshit.

Easiest quickest bet for you is facebook if you cant already sync to outlook from bb.
Ive said fuck outlook and moved to thunderbird for email and calendaring in windows and osx and gmail serving it all up- for my phone too. Live@edu imap finally works on the Pre now too. Outlook is horrible with large imap accounts- slow as shit.
I use google calendar tasks which if you set a date become cal events and I also use Evernote to sync searchable documents and images(yes searchable too!) between all systems - desktop-laptop-pre. Free or Paid- Im still on Free and its just fine. There are browser plugins that work with evernote too

Gotta maximize my productivity so I can waste time without guilt

ok well i ran into the same problem when i tried to install apps but once i downloaded the drivers and the sdk it was smooth sailing from there

Howard Stern on the Pre or any other internet radio you want

1. Open classic.shoutcast.com in the browser.
2. In the search box, type Howard 101.
3. Click on Listen Now and it will start streaming immediately.

Or browse or search for any other content you want. Works well.

***if you guys are having signal problems be sure to enable offnetwork data roaming -its disabled by default

the homebrew apps have been so so thus far... but as open as this platform seems to be I'm excited for what's going to be coming soon!

you need to readd about your everything plan bruh
no roaming charges ever

no data roaming charges
no voice roaming charges

oh word where is this setting at?

Just activated this bitch:dance:

theres a tethering app available(free) that works but u have to root your pre (which i refuse to do because you shouldnt have to) then theres a paid version(http://mytether.net/) of the same app that doesnt require you to root at all.

You're doing it bruh.

Precciate it fam..... im grindin hard over here. I have tried to sync my blackboard with anything else and that shit just aint working out.....:smh:

i may just stop being lazy and enter it into the phone myself

Anyone found a solution to the battery issue?

I just turned my GPS off and the battery life increased...I still carry my charger around with me though...

Does anybody know why the usb part doesn't work in a usb car charger? It works fine when I stick into a computer but when I put in the usb adapter i have in the car it won't charge my Pre why?

Can't wait till some makes a on screen keyboard for the phone. Got mine last night installed a few homebrews. Everyone should start listing what they have installed. N sources. I'm typing this from my pre btw

There is so much that I love about the Pre. The ability to multitask is so huge I can't imagine using a phone that can't anymore. What would u like to see improved?

i'd like to see:

better battery life
ability to type while in landscape mode
more memory (ability to use SD cards maybe)
some directional arrow keys or something that effect... i have a hard time placing the cursor exactly where I want it on the screen at times when editing or copying/pasting exact chunks of text

You guys have any thoughts?

thought about getting da pre, but from what i understand, da build quality is garbage, i.e easily cracked screen, and sloppy sliding mechanism......... maybe next time.

oh word where is this setting at?

open the phone app - hit the sprint tab in the upper left hand corner - choose preferences - scroll down - NETWORK make sure voice is set to Automatic and Data Roaming is Enabled
then go down and update Network Settings and the Preferred Roaming List

should help you roam on verizon in bad coverage areas

Yeah man when I got time to kill its not a problem working on solutions but when it gets busy sometimes you just gotta bang it out by hand to get it done. If you can sync to facebook already you can then sync facebook to google calendar and that shouldnt be any problem.
Let me know if I can help.
Hell it aint really being lazy since there is more initial effort involved in getting shit worked out right. Working smarter isnt being lazy ;)

good point on gps- hadnt thought of that- u can just turn on location srvices as needed

your usb car charger may not be rated at the right voltage to charge your pre - also how the charger is seated in the lighter port matters too

i need a way to hide/seperate pics from the general area, there homegrown pics I keep on my phone that should not be out n the open. got nieces n nephews that like to dip off and play with phones:smh:

well theres been 17 pages here and no one here has complained about"build quality is garbage, i.e easily cracked screen, and sloppy sliding mechanism" me personally i dropped my phone plenty of times and i have not a scratch on it and the sliding keyboard was akward at first but now im textin on it like i did on my rumor back in the day.

Edit* just read thru those links and it seems to be a small % affected and from what i read they were able to get it fixed or replaced no questions asked and no deductible. Any product you buy theres always a chance of something being wrong with it

I bought mine used and it had a slight crack on the housing (it was stated on the ebay auction). I didn't care, I put one of those hard rubber cases on it and you can't even see it.

I did drop my phone last week... it slipped out of my holster while working and I stepped on right after it landed on accident. The phone wouldn't turn back on. I was freaking out. I took the battery out and put it back in to get it back on. But thru out the day it would just shut off automatically, and the only way to get it on was to plug it in a charger.

I came home and found out /via precentral.net that the older builds have a slight space issue in the battery or something like that. I unno. But my phone has never done it since.

I was about to leave work early to head to Sprint to deal with it... wether it was replacement or insurance. The whole time I was thinking "fuck, I don't wanna go back to the Touch Pro"

You'll be frustrated with the TP2. For all the hardware placed into the phone making it so high end, WM will revert that phone into a shell of itself. It's like buying a quad-core pc & being forced to run Win98 on it. If you're not sure about the Pre then opt for Android but stay away from WM. You'll be sorry in the longrun if you do. If anything ask the majority of the Pre owners in here what their previous phone was running.

Of course I'd like expandable memory but more than anything I'd prefer a more sturdy device.

When I slide the screen up it sometimes feels like I'm going to break it.

I love the operating system though, this shit is a beast.

This OS on some HTC or Samsung hardware:itsawrap:

create a folder in usb mode called .homeg and move your homegrown into there
now they shouldnt show up in photoroll at all in the photo viewer app

its more like the device and inner circuitry in a htc shell equals a wrap
the pre hardware aint no joke the case has been called frail but my sliding action is not loose or weak at all
only thing I dont like is the fuckin lcd bleed its a heat issue though from my understanding

i just want a video upgrade, audio recording app and better battery life
I like my pre. Felt like shit without it for 3 days.
