open email- click on the account go to the New Message section and turn of show icon or play sound

The pre is now available on the everything plus referral website for those who dont want the 99 everything plans. They have 500 minutes for $59 and 1000 minutes for $79

open email- click on the account go to the New Message section and turn of show icon or play sound

When i do this i can turn off the sound with the notification still on, but I can't turn off notification without also turning off sound...

I have the 1.1 update so my shit is up to date. I appreciate the help! This thread is outstanding and I love this damn phone!

If you’d rather not head down to a Sprint (NYSE: S) store, talk to a Sprint representative or purchase easily via Sprint.com, Amazon is now another option for your Palm (NSDQ: PALM) Pre purchasing needs. As of yesterday, Amazon.com has the Palm Pre up-for-grabs for $199.99 on a new service plan with Sprint.
To check it out for yourself, simply head on over to Amazon, and punch in your Zip Code on the right hand side of the site to check availability. I just ran my standard ‘90210′ zip check, and yep, the Pre is available for all the good folks in Beverly Hills.
You can also pick up the Pre from Amazon without a service plan for $499.99.

my bad im tired as fuck - go to email- then click the tab in the upper left corner- choose Preferences & Accounts -- scroll down to the account you want to modify the settings for ---tap on it ------ scroll down to the New Message section - turn off the Show Icon slider and leave play sound on or choose vibrate instead of sound. Show Icon being off or on has no bearing on whether or not Play Sound or Vibrate work- at least on my 1.1 phone

I wish sprint didnt make you leave your plan for it, sucks for existing customers. I wonder how many potential customers they are loosing with that plan bullshit

PreLoad (Beta) from Pimp My Pre - Homebrew App Store?

preload1.jpg

This application is like a homebrew app store. It is called PreLoad.

preload3.jpg

With "PreLoad" you can download and install applications OTA from our repository. Right now, only pimp my sounds is in there, but we have created a page where developers can add their applications to the repository as well. When they do, they will be available for download from this app. Use the link at the top of the page on our site (PimpMyPre) called Upload.

preload2.jpg

You can also download ringtones, sounds and wallpapers directly from the repo too.

Anyone can use the upload link at the top on Pimp My Pre to share their sounds, apps and images. After we approve them (usually around 6PM every evening), they will appear on everyone's Pre for download.

The app also has a section for News, and a message board for quick messages to the community.

Finally, the bottom button, called fileurl, is a text field where you can put in ANY url to a file and download it to your Pre. If it's an mp3, it will go into the folder called pmpringtones; a wav file into pmpsounds; an ipk will get installed and a jpg will go to your downloads to be available for your photo app.

The photos you download will be immediately available by your photo app for use as wallpapers.

We have designed PreLoad so that when updates are available, the app will know and you will be prompted to download the file and it will install itself. No more connecting your pre to the PC for apps or updates!

Just made my first ringtones with Audacity... easy as hell. Thanks to Chops for the instructions! Now i'll know when my parents call me, cause I'll hear Robin Harris do the 'whoop you when i wanna' skit from his comedy album. I only made it 15 seconds long, but the pre didnt seem to care.

Took my first little roadtrip, and used google maps for a little navigational help... was dope to see your positon update real time on the map, and it was incredibly accurate.

Palm Pre drops to $99 at LetsTalk online store, for a limited time
Aug 3, 2009 9:41 AM

It's a limited time offer, and the handset is currently out of stock -- you'll have to wait a few days for delivery -- but cutesy online phone retailer LetsTalk is offering the Pre for a mere $99 after a $100 rebate and a $100 instant discount. This sort of price flexibility bodes well for the truly budget conscious eying this phone, though as demonstrated time and time again: you're saving a lot more in the long run with a cheap plan than a cheap phone, something that's been a lock since day one with the Pre.

a way to transfer bookmarks
I tried putting my bookmarks in a page in evernote but that shit loads very weird

I have the touch pro right now and I'm thinking of getting one but I use WMWifirouter a lot now. Does anyone know if this will work on the Palm Pre? I know it has wi-fi so I'm guessing it will but I'd like to know for sure if anyone has tried.

App Catalog: New Submissions and New Manager Wanted
Palm has started a new round of App Catalog submissions. Earlier today Early Access Program participants got the email from Palm letting them know it's time. Currently it's just open to 'Early Access Program' developers, but the email hints at full open submissions in the near future.

[...] As Palm moves forward with our Application Catalog development, we’re looking for a select set of high-caliber developers who want to be on the inside track as we shift gears to the next phase (and before we open the flood gates to application submissions from the thousands and thousands of developers who have downloaded the Public Mojo SDK).

The email then goes on to describe how you can make an early submission, get a chance for increased exposure through Palm's marketing, and get 'personalized attention.' Palm also wants deets like when you expect it to be complete, business model of your app: free or paid or ad-supported, what country you want it available for, etc. Here's some links to check before you submit: Application Checklist, Top UI Tips, Performance Optimization, and WebOS User Interface Guidelines [pdf link].

Meanwhile, our tipsters have tracked down yet another intriguing job opportunity at Palm: Lead App Catalog Administrator. We have to say: just reading through this description makes us very optimistic that Palm's App Catalog policies won't look like Apple's mess:

The successful candidate will be a skilled communicator adept at resolving complex, sensitive issues. This position will be working under an aggressive schedule to cultivate developer relationships and resolve escalations in a timely manner. Needs to be able to organize and prioritize a heavy workload and be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and has strong customer service skills.

So if you're waiting for App Catalog goodness, be patient -- Palm is clearly moving as fast as humanly possible without tripping and landing on their face. If you can't be patient, you know what to do.

That's good to know cause I was going to give it to the end of the month then I was going the homebrew route but i'll wait........
bruh you should really go homebrew
i havent heard of anyone waxin their phone with em - and its simply loading the software dev kit on your computer and entering a code in your phone. The phone was meant to do that so people could try out programs they wrote. If you dont like an app you just uninstall it. This is nothing like jailbreaking.

I guarantee you if you try it youll be like "that wasnt shit"
------------------------------------

The phones are $149 at radioshack (the shack) for new subscribers - no mail in rebates to go thru either

man battery life on this shit is HORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIBBBBBBBBBBBBBBLLLLLLLLLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
i left pandora on but not playing for a few hours(4 hours at most) while I was doin biz throughout the day :hmm:
shit was on the charger in between meetings - by 5pm it was at 5% or less battery - the car charger couldnt recharge it fast enough- touchstone either
one hour on the charger and it got to 50 somethin percent - doin nothin but being on
had it turn it off after browsing and emailing for an hour and a half
fuckin evdo man - this radio is outta control
i dont want no stupid ass huge battery either
the next webos upgrade better fix this battery drain bullshit

I think these phones are too much for the batteries. Touch Pro had the same problem.. once it gets hot, its a wrap. I had a Touch Pro at 100%... took it off the charger and within a hour it was down to 20%. Didn't happen all the time, ever now and then.

The latest version of FileCoaster has a Homebrew app list/store. To me its alot better then the PreLoad Homebrew App Store... I guess for the simple fact it has more apps on it.

Anyone found a solution to the battery issue?

whats the issue... the quick drainage?

I think its just whenever your phone gets hot. Touch Pro had the same issue. It only happened to me once.

Palm Pre has its data on like 24/7. Plus some programs access the GPS all the time... keep that in mind. There's tips and options you can use to controls those as well.

carry your charger with you bro. I know people with iPhones, BBs, HTCs, G1s that all do it. The more stuff these phones get, the worst its gonna be.

well he asked for known solutions thats the only one i know. Me personally i'll stick with keeping a usb charger with me. I work with computers so i always got a spot to plug in

yup, as long as I got my car charger with me I'm good.
