Pacquiao prepares for 'no' from Mayweather Jr.

Damn a niggas at work and motherfuckers in here writing novels and shit.

Weren't niggas trying to kill this thread earlier this week.

Margarito getting a big payday off of Manny is soo fucking stupid to me. Forgetting that he should not be boxing period, why does he deserve that fight over a Tim Bradley or Berto?

I know but its crazy that this bullshit isn't getting slaughtered by boxing heads.

Margarito would be Manny's version of Baldomir except it's not a stepping stone any where, Margarito doesn't have a belt or anything.

But I guess its okay cause it's the great warrior Pacquiao

Arum wanna keep all the money, end of story.:smh:

This is actually an intriguing fight because Pac will look like a dwarf next to Margarito. It would be comical to see Margarito knocked down by such a small guy. Regardless, when I realized per the article that this fight would be for a vacant junior middleweight championship, I could see that this was a great move for Manny. Why? Because if he wins, he would probably go on to unify against Cotto. This is definitely legacy increasing stuff. Take all of what he has done and then say he topped it off by partially unifying at junior middle, that's unheard of especially coming from as low as he has and first becoming a champ as far back as the 90's. Sure most would rather see Pac against May but this seems to be the next best option as far as enhancement of legacy is concerned. Some of you guys will swear this opinion is insane, Margarito's a cheater, Cotto's done, etc, but trust that HBO will hype these fights and Pac's achievement at 154 if he wins will be very glorified.

i agree with the above Zef... Margarito is a bum but winning another belt would be great for his legacy....history is going to judge Pacman well but I still wanted to see the Mayweather-Pacman fight...

ITS FOR A VACANT JR WELTER TITLE???????

HOW THE FUCK DOES THAT HAPPEN? MANNY IS A WELTER AND MARGARITO SHOULDN'T EVEN BE BOXING:angry:

Sanctioning bodies need someone to hold the belts so they can get their fees... what better way to get visibility for the bullshit belt than in a fight between two high profile controversial fighters.

While I realize Manny has to eat, this hand picking shit is getting annoying, while Margarito has a chance of winning, there are many more quality fighters in and around this weight class he could have fought. I am a point where I just wish Floyd's ass would pack it up and move on too. What ever the reasons are, he has never found SO many excuses to avoid a fight!?!?!?! I really believe he is holding out, waiting for Manny to lose, and then give the excuse that he didn't fight him because he was overrated anyway. As much as Floyd says he wants big fights, I believe he and Manny both are looking to make big paydays against lesser opposition, and then, once they are through, they can always say they were better than each other and the other person was scared to fight, etc. and at that point there is no proving it because both of them are done fighting.... Bring on the Jr. Welters, at this point I am done with both Manny and Floyd, fuck 'em!!!! :smh:

If I'm not going to see Floyd v Pac at least give me something worth watching instead of a bum... when Margarito was boxing consistently he was terrible now with an almost 2 year layoff due to cheating, he is just given one of the biggest fights out there. Yes, I know he boxed that nobody a few months ago, but come on. Margarito has nothing to offer boxing.

Then after that I'm supposed to get hyped for Pac to fight a cat he already destroyed....

When Floyd was talking rematch with Oscar I wasn't feeling it and that wasn't even a great performance from Floyd.

And if Margarito wins some how then what? We get the joy of a Margarito v Cotto rematch or even better the dream match Margarito v Floyd if it could be made.

I really wish I knew what the fuck happen with Floyd v Pac.

Agreed but I still don't what happen with the fight this time around..... I wish someone would give the full story on what happened.

Only way Floyd can redeem himself is taking on Martinez or P Will.

Margarito shouldnt even be boxing and he doesnt even deserve to fight Pacman.

This is pure bullshit by Arum...pure fucking bullshit...another slow footed fighter that is going to sit in front of Pacman. Margarito cant even get a fight...i wouldnt even be surprised if he takes a dive for Pacman...what does he has to lose and we know he already cheats.

But winning this title is going to improve Pacman in terms of legacy...I mean in the eyes of the media...not purists.

I dont see how people can say manny is hand picking his opponents. Dude is fighting a guy who has been in the top 3 ww for years and earned it in the ring. The ww division has been Antonio, Shane, and cotto. So in that viewpoint it isn't bad. Plus it isn't like manny's team didn't try to make the fight most people want to see.

I see this as a tough fight for both fighters. Pbf already ducked antonio. If I had to guess pbf wants manny to lose so he can say once again how the top guys have loses because he won't fight them and they have to fight each other.

This will be a better fight than manny and pbf's last fight.

I don't know who else he can fight. Bertolucci would get crushed and Timothy doesn't have enough pop to back up manny. Antonio and manny will be a interested fight. At least he is not green like Timothy and berto. If Floyd fights either of those two I will laugh. Those fights don't represent a challenge to him.

You're bugginthe fuck out, you're leaving out the reason WHY he was a top 3 welter, because skills wise, dude sucks. Manny could have fought Shane at this point and it would be a better fight. Wouldn't be surprised if Manny destroys this nicca in 8 rounds.

Fuck Margarito and FUCK Bob Arum and FUCK the commission if they let this take place in the states.

I hope this fight takes place in Mexico, maybe they can wrap Margarito's hands in plaster again and get away with it there. That's the only way this fight will be competitive.:smh:

Pbf already ducked antonio..

Well here is what ‘May’ did. Remember, we are sticking to the facts. No conjecture. He countered Top Rank’s offer and told them he would fight Margarito in August for the $8 million. The only stipulation was after he beat Margarito, he wanted Top Rank to guarantee him $10 million for the Cotto fight that would surely follow. How’s that for ducking Cotto and Margarito? These are the facts. But there’s more. Top Rank was only willing to guarantee $7 million for a Cotto fight, not the $10 million request.

Okay readers, before I continue let’s do a little math. Cotto was Top Rank’s money fighter during this time. Agreed? I have my cyber helmet on now and I’ll put myself in Money May’s shoes for a minute. Why would I fight Antonio Margarito for $8 million and then come back and fight the money guy, THE MONEY guy Cotto for $1 million less? It doesn’t make sense. So I ask you once again. Put yourself in May’s shoes. What would YOU do?

Once Top Rank wouldn’t budge, ‘May’ wrote a check for $750,000 and told Top Rank that he no longer needed their services. He bought his contract out. Let me add that he also asked Top Rank to get him $20 million for a De La Hoya fight. Top Rank didn’t think there was $20 million for him to make on that fight. In a manner of speaking, they were correct. Money May went on to make $30 million for the De La Hoya fight and probably at least $20 million from the Hatton tussle. Not to mention $8 million (amount sound familiar?) for the fight with Carlos Baldomir. He will also receive eight figures for the Marquez fight. He sold himself as the bad guy and a few 24/7 episodes later it has paid off for him. So I ask you one last time… what would YOU do?

Other than that article I never heard that anywhere else. Not saying it's not true, but given Floyd's track record......how come Floyd never said that to the public or in an interview. Maybe he did and I missed it but Floyd has become about beating easy opponents for big $$$$$. Not saying it's not true but...the author sounds like he's seriously caping for Floyd.
It don't matter, I think Floyd knew the inside scoop on Margarito and his hands, with or without them wraps, Floyd boxes circles around homie.

Threads stop being boring and redundant when men just talk and disagree respectfully AND can put aside their own bias (or at least aknowledge it) to hear the other guy's side.

Yep.

Arum is sacrificing Margarito to build Manny. Margarito's a damaged brand so he's going to squeeze the last bit of money out of him while he can while building up his biggest star.
Arum ain't shit but he's smart.
But didn't we see this coming as soon as he announced his "deadline"?

Yeah. I cant really buy an argument of Floyd ducking Margarito. I was never impressed with Margarito and he would be the perfect fight for Floyd.

On the other hand, I could see why Floyd could possibly be worried about a fighter like Pacman. I think he would beat Pacman but I could see why he would be worried with that awkward southpaw style..

Margarito doesnt deserve this fight though :smh::smh:

it is obvious that SOMEONE doesnt want this floyd-pacman fight to happen....this shit is not even over a purse-split, etc.... someone doesnt want to make this fight

I read it an old Ring Magazine Almanac. Haven't been able to find that issue online to post.

I understand the money aspect of the sport. However as a fan it doesn't matter to me. A few years ago I wanted to see pbf in the ring against cot to and Antonio. The post dude linked to isn't gospel anyways. It is just a perspective. The fact is pbf turned down the offer to fight Antonio.

I don't hate on Antonio as some people do. That is because I don't know if he knowingly cheated. I am giving dude a pass. I liked watching him and he was a dude people were scared of fighting for quite a while.

All I can say is how I see it. You guys see that he had a monetary reason to walk away and I see it that he had a big reason to fight the best ww at that time. But there is a reason he is called money and not the greatest.

Laymen like us don't see how Margarito or Cotto could have beaten Mayweather so you know his uncle would have picked them apart. It's always better to have the fight instead of speculating about them but Arum didn't want one of his big money fighters spoiling, not one but two, his other big money fighters, at least not before he could maximize his own profits.

I've said all along Arum does not want Pacquiao and Mayweather to fight at least while he can still make money on Manny. But guran-damn-teed if Mayweather was still with Top Rank, this would have happened.

How could he not know he was cheating? Did they wrap his hands while he was asleep? Don't do that, buk.
This is the same Margarito who then wouldn't fight Paul Williams until Williams became a mandatory challenger and then didn't ask for a rematch for his title.
I hold Pacquiao blameless in this fight. He fights whoever Arum puts in front of him.

How was he the best welterweight when Cotto was undefeated and was beating quality boxers like Mosley and Judah? Cotto was the #1 guy at welter on a lot of peoples lists at that time.

If you've ever had your hands wrapped, you KNOW that this nicca is straight LYING!! You know as a boxer what is being put on your hands, most niccas WATCH their hands being wrapped, feel any discomfort or tightness and point it out to the dude wrapping their hands, unless an HBO camera is in their face, they are WATCHING their hands being wrapped. MOTHERFUCK Margarito!!!!:angry::angry: Even Loius Resto will tell you that niccas lying, no boxers or trainers even buy that bullshit from Antonio, and to add to this bullshit the nicca threw his trainer and father figure Capetillo under the bus when he finally got caught. Margarito is a piece of human garbage.:angry:

Cheating in the manner his team did is indefensible. My point is simple. You nor I had the wraps placed on our hands. So neither of us can say what antonio knew or felt. Speculating on stuff like that is pointless to me. Unless they proved he knew I am going to agreenwith the board and give him the benefit of doubt he didn't know.

Cotto and Antonio not fighting does not change my view that antonio was considered better.

C'mon buk. C'mon.
He couldn't have been the best at any time. He had no big wins and loss the second significant challenge to Williams. Cotto, who I've never been impressed with except for the first 10 rds of the Mosley fight, had a huge win over Shane and a decisive win over a game, motivated Judah. Baldomir has leapfrogged him at one point just by beating Judah and Gatti. Antonio Margarito was never considered more than a notable titleholder.
And the handwrap argument you're making just isn't intelligent. How could his story of not knowing be true? With his eyes wide open, how could he not see what they were doing? He was recklessly endangering Shane Mosley's life and, if he did it before, he endangered others. Stop this, man. This guy did more to damage boxing than any amount of shrewd matchmaking by Mayweather or Pacquiao could ever do.

Paul Pierce, bruh...Paul Pierce

It took me a second.

lol you defending that scum?

that dude could has seriously hurt Shane or anyone else...he doesn't deserve to get any fights let alone Pacman...its a disgrace....let me guess he didn't have loaded wraps for Cotto either?

Nazim found the plaster in his wraps....what other evidence do you need,....the commission seize the wraps before the fight and they decided to continue on....

HE WAS CHEATING POINT BLANK...don't make excuses for this bitch and Arum....

Bradley or Alexander would be great challenge for Pac at 140

this fight with Macheato is at 154? or will they use the usual catchweight?

It will be for the WBC super welterweight title. What weight they'll fight at will be interesting. I'd really be interested to see if Manny could get up to 154 and still retain his speed and strengh.
Where the hell did that title come from anyway? Did Margarito win it from that tomato can Garcia?
