White supremacist gang leader and members convicted on murder charges

Five people associated with a violent white supremacist gang in Alaska were convicted on federal murder charges Monday in connection with the grisly kidnapping, assault and killing of a man in 2017, the Department of Justice announced.
Leader “Filthy Fuhrer,” 45, formerly known as Timothy Lobdell, and four other men — Roy Naughton, 43, Glen Baldwin, 40, Colter O’Dell, 29, and Craig King, 56 — were convicted of murder, racketeering, kidnapping and assault related to the killing of Michael Staton, which occurred on Aug. 3, 2017. Staton had allegedly stolen from the gang.
All five defendants face a mandatory sentence of life in prison without parole for the murder, according to the DOJ release. The sentencing hearings will take place in October.
Fuhrer founded the 1488 white supremacist gang, which operates inside of state prisons in Alaska, while serving a 19-year-sentence at Spring Creek Correctional Center for the attempted murder of an Alaska State Trooper.

From behind bars, Fuhrer instructed the four men to kidnap and assault two low-level members on April 2 and July 20, 2017, and kidnap, assault and murder Staton on Aug. 3, 2017. According to court records, the men beat and tortured Staton in a duplex in Wasila before taking him to the woods and shooting him. The group then burned his body. The gruesome murder earned O’Dell his membership into the gang, the release stated.
The gang has written rules and a code of conduct, including the belief that “the only currency we recognize is violence and unquestionable loyalty,” according to the DOJ release.
“The guilty verdicts today strike a significant blow to the highest levels of the 1488 gang,” said Assistant Attorney General Kenneth A. Polite, Jr., of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division. “The Department of Justice and our law enforcement partners remain committed to combating and dismantling violent white supremacist gangs.”
Attorney Jeremy Franker of the Criminal Division’s OCGS and Assistant U.S. Attorneys William Taylor, James Klugman and Chris Schroeder prosecuted the case.

A South Carolina man accused of strangling his girlfriend died of a heart attack while burying her in their yard in a twist of what some might call poetic justice, according to reports.
Joseph McKinnon, 60, killed Patricia Dent, 65, inside a Trenton home Saturday, the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office said. Deputies responded to the residence over reports of “an unresponsive male lying in his yard,” Sheriff Jody Rowland said in a news release.
When they arrived, they found McKinnon’s body. Medical crews were called to the scene and tried to revive him, Fox Carolina reported.
During their investigation, deputies found a second body in a freshly dug pit, Rowland said. The body was identified as Dent, who lived with McKinnon, authorities said.
He had a “cardiac event” while covering the pit, authorities said. Investigators believe McKinnon attacked Dent in the home. An autopsy determined she died by strangulation.
“Mr. McKinnon then bound her and wrapped her in trash bags before putting her in the previously dug pit,” according to the sheriff.
Dent was supposed to be at work the day she died at the Mount Vintage golf course but didn’t show up, the news outlet reported. She also didn’t answer calls or respond to text messages.

HILLSBORO Ore. (KPTV) - Washington Co. District Attorney’s Office has sentenced a Hillsboro man convicted of accessing child pornography to 45 months in prison after violating probation.
Scott Michael McNutt II, age 51, was first investigated Aug. 2016 for downloading and sharing child pornography. Investigators say an undercover software was used to download the images directly from the McNutt’s computer. The following March, a search warrant was granted, and hundreds of videos were located, the D.A.’s office said Monday.
McNutt eventually pled guilty to 10 counts of first-degree encouraging child sexual abuse. McNutt was placed on five years of probation.
Several months after his conviction, McNutt was found to have violated his probation, consuming alcohol, accessing the internet, attending his child’s soccer practice where minors were present and viewed child pornography.
On May 6, McNutt’s probation was revoked, and he was sentenced to 45 months in prison.
McNutt is being transferred to the Oregon Department of Corrections to serve his sentence.
